This house was purchased at auction site unseen with no keys available. I'm not going to hire a locksmith to break into a $13 kwickset lock. I'm a landlord not a locksmith
I'm the head Carpenter for someone who buys houses without keys all the time. Only one time in several hundred did I have to do considerable damage to get us in. Most houses use cheap locks- cheap locks are easy if you know how just as is shown here.
Most modern door have a security latch. This "dead" latch is designed so that if the door is hung correctly that the main, spring loaded, latch cannot be pushed in from the outside but needs to be retracted by the knob. The card trick is useless against a properly fitted door.
@@09jisaac Maybe half the doors I run across can be 'loided', and with one very popular type of frame it's impossible to set the strike correctly because the weatherstripping is too soft. Most carpenters don't know how to do the job right anyway. 40+ years in the building business; I know whereof I speak.

You could bump it in 5 seconds.
Most of these yep. A wave rake or zipping works equally well; less than 5% of these have tough bitting.
just rake it opened. kwiksets are easy.
Why not just use an old card?
