    I just bought a one owner 2004 ES330 w/169K for my 16yr old daughter. It is buttery smooth but it is very basic for a Lexus. I was a bit surprised that there is only one 12v outlet (the cig lighter). Our 2005 Infinity FX35 has 4 or 5 and I never even thought to look at that. I love that the steering column is NOT power adjust. Just the manual up/down. It seems like a very safe car for her to be driving... lets hope she doesn't notice the power outlet thing 🤣

    New to your videos. Are you planning on making a video of you checking/replacing the timing belt? Will you do it with the engine in the car? In our automotive class 10+ years ago we only messed with timing belts with engines out of the car on engine stands.

    The Canadian TV show Canada’s Worst Driver actually used an ES - a fourth-gen XV30 like this one - for the water tank challenge in Season 14 back in 2018. It looked like it might have been a 2001-2003 pre-facelift model under all that foam.

    Thanks for your video. I am looking for a used car for my daughter who is graduating school, and got an offer for Lexus 2004 SE 330, 90k miles, no rust, 5900. It belonged to an old lady who didn't put too many miles on it. This is alittle more than I was expecting for a student. On the other hand my mothers heart would feel better knowing my kid drives such a safe and reliable car. I have done so much research on it. I had this car back in 2005. But it being 20 years old kinda scares me lol
    Its a dark blue color, no navigation screen. So obviously thats a con. Also no back up camera and no Aux input. But that should not be a huge breakdeal.
    The mechanic told me he guarantees this car can take another 200 000 miles, just needs basic maintenance. I'm just afraid it will become antique in 5 years. But I also won't lie, its classic design doesn't look outdated to me even being 20 years old. In fact, I like it more than modern design.

      Hope this helps but I've had mine for almost 20 yrs now and I've had little to no problems with it. I was about to get another car because the ride wasn't as smooth and I felt like something just wasn't right so I thought I just needed another car. Mechanic told me I just needed basic maintenance ( 1 coil and spark plugs changed) I did and to my amazement😮 the car is now literally running just as it did and maybe even better than when I first got it years ago. It's now at about 156000. Looks and feels impressively great. Most reliable car on the market. Keep up with the maintenance ( 100 k+)and you'll be fine...I didn't have to change mine until around 156k but now it's like new😊. 90k for 5600😢 knowing what I now know, I wouldn't even think twice....Take it for a nice long test drive and if something isn't right, you would definitely know driving this lexus brand👌. From my personal experience, I would have to agree with your mechanic😂

    It’s a fantastic car. I have an 05’ ES330 that we picked up five years ago with 131K miles for $5K from the second owner. All dealership maintained since purchased. I have put 30K miles on it and have had to do some work to replace parts, front struts and strut bearings, steering rack and pressure lines, valley plate reseal, and to make it completely bulletproof, I’ve replaced all coolant hoses, thermostat, water pump, timing belt, front seals, valve cover gaskets, lower control arms, tie rod ends, and made sure the transmission got a full service by dropping the pan, change the screen and fluid. Is a very solid engine and trans that will easily hit 300K miles or more with general maintenance. Tint the windows, put a nice touchscreen head unit and enjoy it for a long time to come!

    • @jonathanratliff4780
      @jonathanratliff4780 5 месяцев назад +1

      Outstanding…. May I ask did you use aftermarket parts on all of that or did you stick with Lexus OEM? If aftermarket are all the parts working OK so far?

    • @cpfb68
      @cpfb68 4 месяца назад

      @@jonathanratliff4780 I only used Lexus OEM. I found a dealer that sells almost at wholesale, Bell Lexus in AZ.
      The only aftermarket I’ve used are the struts and one drive axle on the passenger side. The struts used are KYB, as the OEM were almost $2K to replace. KYB was one of the OEM manufacturers for Lexus back in the day. Yes, the OEM are better but the ride is like new and half the cost and are working really well. I was going to rebuild the axle with OEM parts but just didn’t have the time so went with a good new aftermarket part. Other than that, all engine, trans, and general maintenance are OEM. If you need to go aftermarket, stay away from the auto store parts and online, unheard of names. They are cheap and will fail really fast. OEM may seem expensive but when you compare their prices to the aftermarket, they aren’t much more and last for years…oh yeah…they fit perfectly too. I did buy a new aftermarket alternator from Advance Auto (Carquest Lifetime Warranty). It’s still working but it’s crazy noisy as the bearings are garbage. The difference in price from this unit to a reman Denso from Lexus was $50 and three days wait time…….I wish I waited and paid the $50.

    The rear windows, if not used, will tend to be stuck and wont go up or down. Before you bring it to a mechanic, try holding the down button and slam the door hard a few times. That usually fix the problem. This is due to rain, dust and soap for car washes getting caked somewhere inside the door panel

    3 years ago this month i bought a 1 owner 2002 ES300 with then 161k miles for $4,495, serviced thru 110k miles at a Lexus dealership. They had its original timing belt/water pump replaced at 87k miles along with the valve cover gasket. Black on black with California walnut trim interior. The dealer replaced the muffler when i bought it. Within the first 12-18 months i had to replace many 20 year old OEM parts, starter, alternator, exhaust flex pipe, AC compressor (was working but had a slight squeal), replaced all 4 struts since the back ones started leaking oil. Also, one of the ignition coils needed replacing at about 170k miles, so i decided to replace all 6 with new Denso units and denso plugs. Last fall the front brake calipers started to freeze up, had them replaced. Within the first few months i installed a double din Alpine touch screen with Apple car play and a hardwired back-up camera. Car is one of the best cars ive ever owned. Besides the LS430's the 4th gen ES's (02-06) are the best quality Lexus's ever built. There is one on YT posted about 4 years ago with then 596k highway miles ! Mine now has 181k miles and it will last many more years. I use 93 Octane and get 30-31 mpg on straight highway. I'll be getting the timing belt/water pump replaced next year. Getting close to retirement in about 3-4 years and I'll be keeping this beauty well into retirement. I do have more $ into it then what i paid, but its still worth every penny. I replaced all the important OEM parts and i change the synthetic oil myself every 5k miles. it burns about 1/2 quart between oil changes so the engine is performing great. All in im super happy and dont regret anything about this car purchase. Every button/switch on the car still works, rides like new with new struts. Its solid like a tank and quiet like a vault.

    I have two 2003 ES300’s.
    One I bought over two years ago for $1800 with 138k miles. Needed a wheel bearing and an O2 sensor at the time, as well as some odds and ends, and a starter some time later. Today it has almost 175k miles. A few months ago, I needed to put on rear struts and an exhaust ‘mid pipe’ to pass inspection. All said and done, about $400 for that and the parts. Shop told me I should consider getting a different car, so I did it myself. 😂😂😂
    The second one I bought fairly recently for $2000, with 126k miles. Would not start due to a bad neutral safety switch and sat for 1.5 years as a result. Replaced that, and the car started, ran, and was good to go, but needed HID ballasts/bulbs, plus other odds and ends. Have $2700 into it, including inspection.
    So, all in all, I am likely less than $6000 deep into the two of them. Considering they were $35,000 cars when new, back in 2003, I’d say that ain’t too bad. Over 90% off not adjusting for inflation. Plus, they are pretty bulletproof cars, despite being more than 20 years old. Between the two of them, I see no reason why I wouldn’t be able to get at least another combined 150k-250k miles.
    Also, only complaint with these cars is the cup holders… then again that says a lot about how good these are 😂
    Side note: I suggest you get rid of that steering wheel cover and enjoy the quality of the stock wheel. Very nicely made with wood grain portions like the rest of the interior.
    If you ever disconnect the battery and the car does not idle properly afterwards, you’ll need to clean the throttle body, not hard to do, but is a fairly common occurrence as these get into higher miles. Had to do it on both of mine.
