I had to vote against your comment. I agree with you that Mutter's performance of the Violin Concerto with Karajan may be the best recorded version ever. But here, Mutter takes risks in playing expressively, and maybe Beethoven would be happier with this kind of vigor, rather than another conservative performance. This recording deserves further listening and comparison with other renditions including the Karajan/Mutter version.
Really salute and harmonious, with its main violin virtuoso player, renowned conductor and his orchestra, bringing an eminent Beethoven composed rare. (wijonora)

ur right there are no risks here, but see her Kreutzer sonata. It's an incredible version that's highly individualistic (IMO equal best with Oistrakh)
I noticed he has the baton out now and he didn't start out with it in movement 1. I love his cuffs!
