You sir have taught me more in this 1 video than I've been able to dig up in a month. You've saved me lots of wasted time and more importantly gold lol. Thank you so much for this video! It's exactly what I needed!
for that amount of gold, 3 spoonfulls of SMB is about 2 spoonfulls too many. There is a formula available to calculate the amount of SMB to use for the given amount of gold in solution, although I do not have it handy at the moment. There really are no negative consequences on using too much SMB for any given drop other than the loss of valuable SMB and the extra time needed to rinse away the chemicals. I have found that a simply Boiling the Gold powder in muriatic acid for 15 minutes will clean up the Gold so that 3 re-refines are not necessary. You'd be surprised what the gold looks like after just boiling it once does to the color.
That's RUclips at it's best! Thank you for sharing all your knowledge with this fun experimentation. Love from Montréal Ps I'm an analytical chemistry lab technician, with experience in gold mine.
ECO GOLDEX test I did a couple of days ago. used 10 grams of ECO GOLDEX, 200 ml of water, stripped some gold fingers. The I use a stainless steel anode and cathode, applied 2.5 vdc. The gold did plated on the cathode. I know this is not an eco goldex vid, more of just an informational comment.
Hi Mike, i use vinegar, peroxide and sea salt for my solution. Is the process the same for the mud ? Im using 1 cup vin. 1 cup per. And 1 tbsp salt. I'm getting very very fine gold and fine silver in my filters with Alabama Gold Mud in bottomof jar. Any advise ?
How do you deal with the non-metal trash in dirty stick from BGA chips or the pretty colored silicon glass from ddr1 IC RAM chips or burnt remnants of ribbon cables and other crap that's not metal and won't dissolve in acid? I guess there's always the option to make sure everything's in solution and then fill throughout all the non-metal garbage and then do what you just demonstrated but I was hoping you might have some tips or tricks I hadn't considered make it easier
Wakidia says that gold oxide dissolves in nitric and hydrochloric, which you deposited smb It is gold oxide, which means that what you got rid of with nitric acid is real gold What is your opinion
Hi Mike, nice video. At the beginning you had a beaker of colloidal gold with gold precipitate on the bottom. How about if you use smb and all you get is 300-400 ml of colloidal liquid with no precipitate on the bottom. How do you proceed then?
Filter out colloidal precipitate. Test liquid for the presence of gold. Add more SMB if so. Re-dissolve precipitate on filter in aqua regia and test for the presence of gold. If so drop it again. Should be cleaner the second time.
That's the way I do it, with one exception.. I decant and then wash it into my stock pot. I figure why not, the stuff in the stock pot is just as dirty
If you hit it with nitric boil and filter and hit it with water boil filter then hit with hydrocloric boil filter than just one refine you will gey .999 purity gold only one refine saves time and money but everyone does it diffrent lol and precipitate with alluminuim no smb saves money and time too

Hi Mike, 10th Thumbs up! Chemistry 202 is now completed for this semester! Can't wait for summer school! Great job! Take Care, Jim

Nice work Mike.

Can't thank you enough. I have 300 gallons of this muck
Good luck.

You helped me immensely
Thank you

Good job overall

عمل رائع وجميل شكرا لك علي الدرس

Green is coppper when precipitation
Thanks
How did you remove nitric acid from gold powder sir?
Wonderful video

Try hats right.... good to know
You do make some clean gold
Super.
It's funny to hear you say floating gold considering how heavy it is
Best way is viniger to dissolve electronics it wont bring down other metals lol but everyone does it diff

Iron in your gold is the red stuff hit it with nitric and boil it take the iron out lol
