SDSU fan, this is going to be a great heavyweight battle year in and year out. This couldn't have been a more mutually beneficial move. Congrats to Zags and PAC. From an SDSU perspective, as a basketball school, Zags were by far the biggest get. Global brand, legendary coach, consistent winning program. It's exactly what we needed to stay relevant in basketball.

Fresno St guy here let's see what we can do in next few months. We all need better competition and a new opponent.

Best of the rest available for PAC-12 when considering both Football and Men’s Basketball are 1. Memphis, 2. Texas State, 3. South Florida, 4. Tulane, 5. UTSA. The main reason for Texas State being at 2 is that while they are in the Sun Belt and not the AAC, they have had a consistently winning basketball program for 5 years. Winning is contagious. Tulane, UTSA, and USF have been terrible in BB recently. PAC should quickly add Texas State to get to 8 full members on a cheap cost. They are near great markets, TX recruiting, central time zone. Then take their time negotiating with Memphis and bring them in…. pay half the exit fee. After that, if Tulane, USF, and UTSA want to join PAC, the PAC can compare them to St. Mary’s and Grand Canyon and make the best choices overall while considering cost. The pot of money is not infinite for PAC.

Do they go after Creighton and Wichita St?

BEast share is 20 million minimum... PAC is estimated at 10 million if they get full share which is doubtful since neither has a football program.
Edit: not sure what AAC gets per share.

Would be a waste for Creighton to leave the BE in my opinion. I think Saint Mary's should also leave and join Gonzaga to the Pac 12 to give more stability and competitiveness from the Basketball standpoint. If Pac 12 can find their last 1 or 2 members they are set.

Barely 3 weeks ago, the sports talking heads world had all but declared the PAC 2, all but ready for permanent exile in G5 conference status world. The PAC 7 decision makers will find quality Invitee #8. It’s not a question of if, or how, but when. It’s a good day to be in the PAC.
Zags. A very big welcome to the PAC Family and The Conference of Champions.

Probably not Creighton, but Grand Canyon, Wichita and maybe St Louis are all possible.

Why not try and poach UConn from BigEast?
