Hey, Sabaton, Spotify just told me that I have spent almost 7000 minutes listening to SABATON in 2023!!! That's more than 99.5% of your fans!!! Thanks for being a great band!!!
I would say you have a problem, but now that I think about it I can’t remember a period of time where longer than 6 hours without listening to sabaton so I’m no one to be talkin lol
2:05 Fun fact: This is, of course, a reference to "Balls to the Wall" by Accept. The founder and lead singer of Accept (at the time, anyways) was Udo Dirkschneider, who left Accept and started a band called U.D.O. One of U.D.O.'s songs, released 8 years after this song, is Metal Machine. It's almost definitely just a coincidence, but still fun to think about. Also, me searching for Sabaton's Metal Machine on Spotify is how I found UDO. So thanks Sabaton, for helping me learn about another great band!
"Gates of Babylon" is a song by Europe, a British Heavy metal band. "The rainbow in the dark" I think is a reference to the album "Dark side of the moon" which has black background which a prism breaks up a light beam into a rainbow. I think the reference to "Black Knight" is Deep Purple. I don't know if the "guns" is symbolic of Guns'n'Roses, but my guess is "yes". "balls to the wall" = German heavy metal band Accept as you stated And "Metal Machine" was a song by Hawkwind. There were a number but, its my dad's era (my mother was a hippie, my dad a rocker, so music in my house swung from rock'n'roll and hard rock to pop and soft rock). Thus, I can't identify all of the references I only know these few, "Bark to the Moon" is pretty black and white, if you know anything about heavy metal, you should know that one.
That's how I discovered Cross Canadian Ragweed. I was listening to Nickelback' song "This Afternoon" where they mention that they're just chillin' with some CCR, which I initially assumed meant Credence Clearwater Revival. But, a commenter posted their thanks to Nickelback for giving a shout out to "CCR", aka, "Cross Canadian Ragweed" bcuz it was one of their favorite bands that hardly anyone had heard of. So... I pulled them up and instantly became a Cross Canadian Ragweed fan! I discovered Sabaton in a similar way, while listening to a story on RUclips by Wartime Stories, who's Narrator & Creator is a retired Marine and Sabaton fan. So he paid his personal tribute to them by inserting one of their songs as if it was being played by Ukrainian soldiers on patrol in their HUM-V. So, of course, I looked up Sabaton and have been obsessed ever since (which was only about 6 months ago, but, hey, better late than never, right?) And in that time I've listened to almost every album beginning to end and left off in the middle of their Heroes album. I've also sent "Great War" "Devil Dogs" and "Sparta" to almost everyone I know, including my mother (who said she LOVES Great War the most) but all of the replies I've received have been in high praise of Sabaton, not just for their historical war themes but for their CORRECT historical portrayals of each event, AND their epic guitar solos combined with their hardcore drum beats that are so complex I had to convince my friends they were, indeed, done by a human being and not by AI or whatever the musical equivalent of CGI would be. Lol!! But the most common responses I've received were about they hadn't unexpected Joakim's voice to be so low, gutteral and hypnotizing, and made them play the songs on repeat bcuz they couldn't get enough. So, ya, I'm carrying on, I know. I'm a writer so that's kinda what I do, but only when I'm passionate about a deserving topic and Sabaton is more than worthy. In fact, the whole reason I stopped by here in the first place was to share the link for Metal Machine with my 17 year old daughter, who I knew would love this genre of music from the moment the doctor shoved that beautiful, little ginger, with steel blue eyes, into my arms!! Lol!! And, yes, she still has her daddy's steel, blue eyes, and she still has that perfect, pumpkin shade of "red" hair, combined with a splash of freckles across her nose and cheeks from the souls she's stolen, and we quickly learned that the legends of "fiery red heads" were more than legends. To top it all off, she has German & Swedish heritage from her father's side and Irish & Scottish heritage from my side. Then, additionally she was born a Scorpio to parents who were already life-long metal heads, so, the result is no surprise at all that she absolutely loves Sabaton!! Right now she's playing a Metallica song on Guitar Hero, which is what brought all of this up in the first place, bcuz she and I agreed they needed to add Sabaton, but probably didn't just bcuz the instrumental difficulty level is so high that most people wouldn't be able to keep up! Lol!! So, that inspired me to share the Metal Machine song and here we are, short-story-long, as they say. Well, only I say that, but, again, I'm a writer, it's what I do. 🤣 Oh, one more thing I have to add is how I thank God every day that my little ginger loves heavy metal bcuz I would lose my mind being subjected to the whole "K-Pop" thing like some of her friends' parents are!! 🤣🤣 Thank you, God, for Sabaton!!! 😆🥰❤️
I have been a fan of heavy metal for 6 years and a fan of Sabaton for 4. This song feels like a medley of my journey. My top 3 metal bands change often, but Sabaton will always be my number one.
I'm a new fan, but my mother was a hippie and my father was a rocker (I found out my mother was a hippie when I found one of her old shirts, she forgot she had gotten rid of them all but... She missed one, she was embarrassed about it). I only just found Sabaton but have been a hard rock/heavy metal fan for years. I heard a song randomly in a video one day, "To hell and back" and thats it. Added it to my fav groups along with Blind Guardian, HammerFall and Lorde. My father used to ridicule modern heavy metal claiming it wasn't as good as the older stuff. I bought a few albums by DragonForce but I think they got worst with each new album, their first album was alright but after that... They got pretty same-y as I think they tried to cash in their Guitar Heroes fame and didn't put enough care into it. I liked the newer stuff because it sounded often epic, like in the 2000s a lot of the heavy metal groups had a bard-like approach at times. I remember watching the old Dethklok series and laughing because I "got it" with a lot of the references without trying.
Im so glad sabaton are releasing lyric videos for their old songs. I can't listen to them often due to the low audio quality of early RUclips. So having these newer versions really help
This song is amazing on two levels, this has the same level of quality as the other Sabaton songs, and is a love letter to metal bands of the 70's and 80's. It's truly an amazing song and I love it.

"It's close to midnight and he's barking at the moon" was the first line I ever heard of Sabaton's music, managed to catch this song at the very end. Since then I tend to listen to their music every few days. I grew up loving classic rock, but this is the metal I listen to most.
Every time Sabaton Uploads another song I am hesitant to listen to it for seemingly no reason, but it looks like every single song of theirs has that special moment in the song that makes you listen to it time and time again.
I know exactly what you mean. I always seem to hesitate to listen to a new song for some reason, but once I actually do I find myself listening to it near daily
Glad it's not just me. I put off 1916 for almost a week. So many of the songs, each one great, have profound themes. The songs carry history I didn't know, and so much is sad, and preventable. And it's like I'm getting behind in fascinating schoolwork, "Oh no, Not another song and History Channel video! They're too soon. I'm still back at part two of the three parts of the Battle of the Somme."
My brother is a history buff, and he loves everything military. He also loves rock music. I can see why he loves your music so much lol, this is a banger!
Huuge amount of references to different metal songs all while seaming blendlessly. Only capable of being done by Sabaton. Keep going, Sabaton, never stop.
This is like one of the best bands ever, the vocals, instruments, tone, and the way it fits the theme, I absolutely LOVE it. Props to your music guys :)
I don't know if Sabaton is going to see this, but I for one would love to see a song about the V2 rocket (and how its concept later led to the intercontinental ballistic missiles). Such a paradoxic, tragic, yet in its own way poetic weapon. A concept so revolutionary and out of this world leading the path into an entirely new way of warfare. A weapon which had such a powerful psychological impact in the war, and went on to become probably one of the most famous German weapons, yet it was also a weapon which had such little actual impact on the war, had such terrible performance and precision, and such a high cost and low efficiency. A weapon that failed so utterly in its original form as the "Wunderwaffe" of the German Reich, yet would come to dictate the course of the following Cold War and modern world, and would so fundamentaly change the way wars would be fought perhaps like no other weapon - In the form of the intercontinental ballistic missile.

HOLY SHIT I have never gotten hooked so fast before. Not even 20 seconds into the video, a couple seconds of the main melody, and I am bouncing my feet! Just goes to show what I say now about Sabaton; their music is energy given form. I'm making this comment at half past 9 at night, no caffeine, woke up tired this morning, and now I'm pumped.
I hope that ten years from now this song can be sung again, but bing more in, new verses with new words from new artists and let the metal machine keep on as it has always kept on.
Man, usually no song gets me putting max volume and making me hold my headphones to keep them from falling off because of how much I move and jump while hearing it, this song is amazing, really fits what's metal for me.
Dear sabaton, first of all I would like to tell you that I have been a fan since the creation of your group. I love when you talk about exceptional soldiers and I'm always surprised that you don't talk about Léo Major(one of the most badass soldier in the history)who accomplished feats such as freeing a city from the Germans during the second war single-handedly. This would be close to my heart because I myself am from Quebec. Finally, long live to sabaton!! 💪
Sabaton is like a drug once you hear one song you can’t stop this was the first song i ever listened to by this band and i have to say its one of my favorite bands now especially since im into history about ww2 and so on
You should really bring this masterpiece more often in your shows. It is an extraordinary legendary metal celebration at its best :D You rock, with greetings from Germany
Very pleasant surprise to see this song get a lyric video! NGL tho... while I know the fanmade Metal Machine videos featuring WW2 bombing raids completely ignore the actual tribute this song is... it would have been amazingly meta for this video to acknowledge them by including a B-17! I know this is the official video... I for one have been conditioned to imagine the bombers banking, shooting, and the moment of bombs away while listening to the song!
Was literally hearing this one only a few days ago, it's nice to get a lyrics video for it. Now we just need one for Metal Crüe and we'll have lyrics for all three Metal songs
I first discovered this band back in 2012, when I still had my old channel, and now I can't stop listening. I have to thank you Sabaton. Thanks to you, ai became interested in both learning the guitar and studying more history than I ever imagined. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have become the history and naval enthusiast that I am today. Once again, thank you.
One of my favorite Sabaton songs of all time. Can we all agree, that this (or Metal Crüe) is the best Song to end a Sabaton concert.😂😍 I especially like the uplifting rythm of IT😉🤗🤘
Bands referenced in this song: KISS, Judas Priest, Def Leppard, The Doors, Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Dio, Metallica, W.A.S.P., Guns 'n' Roses, Anthrax, Manowar, Deep Purple, Helloween, Rainbow, Motley Crue & Accept.
The Wildchild line is obviously referencing W.A.S.P. but the world losing Alexi makes it even more memorable to me. I guess the Dio references also amplify that sentiment. R.I.P. legends, you are always missed. Let this song be one of the many anthems that see you rocking your way to whatever lies beyond. "The Kings of Metal ride the sky!"

Didn't listen for to you guys for a while so I checked your channel and i see all these lyric videos for primo victoria, best album in my opinion. Much appreciation!
🤘 This and Metal Crüe are my favorites from Sabaton.
I just got Ghost Division out of my head, thanks Sabaton this I going to be stuck in my head for days now. Job well done!!!!!
Please come to Australia!!!!
Sorry not sorry Joshua 😉 Thanks for writing!
Absolutely the most metal lyric video I've ever seen
The music that first brought me to the Sabaton. God bless the day I heard this song. Long live to metal!
Truly a love letter to the metal genre, beautiful song!
Love it
HOLY SHIT I have never gotten hooked so fast before.
Outstanding tributes to the very best metal has to offer. So rare, and so very welcome. Thanks fellas.
I hope that ten years from now this song can be sung again, but bing more in, new verses with new words from new artists and let the metal machine keep on as it has always kept on.
Actually i think when saying I'm metal machine he talks as train and when on train speaks as human... 😊 Etc... the one who's speaks change...
This song is absolute FIRE
I'm a brit, and this band was recommend to me by my Polish work colleague. I'm now 4 songs in and "this is gooooood!"
My first metal song I heard back when I was 9 years old. You guys are still one of my favorite bands of all time!
Saying "Come touch my metal machine" at 9 would be wild
you have a point@@AverageMann
Love this song!
The last chorus is fantastic, i hope You guys return some day to this style of songs 🙂
EPIC
Started listening to Sabaton in 2020, still my favorite band to this day. Love you guys 🤘
Here's to the next three years of heavy metal! 🤘
Man, usually no song gets me putting max volume and making me hold my headphones to keep them from falling off because of how much I move and jump while hearing it, this song is amazing, really fits what's metal for me.
Certamente minha banda favorita
Parabéns sabaton
This music is like paradise ❤
3:19 best part
sabaton, YOU ARE THE BEST GROUP EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Edit: Even cause I wanne hear Joachim scream like Udo Dirkschneider, Frontman of Accept ;)
Perfect song to fly on the highway on a motorcycle. Thank you guys! ❤
Ps Skyrim's werewolf is a nice touch 😂😂😂
Aye!
Its my favourite sabaton song! I love it so much! Thank you sabaton ❤❤❤
Thanks, we're so glad you enjoy the video! 🤘
Crazy train? Braking the law? Rainbow in the dark?
I feel like I’ve heard those somewhere else
Also paranoid and master of reality
It is a reference to metal songs. This song is a song for metal.
fear of the dark, wildchild, gates of babylon, nowhere to hide. they have a bunch lyrics from other songs
masters of the world...
wait... reference to metal songs..... rainbow in the dark is dio...
KONO DIO DA!@@The_John_Doe69
Was literally hearing this one only a few days ago, it's nice to get a lyrics video for it. Now we just need one for Metal Crüe and we'll have lyrics for all three Metal songs
Gotta love more Sabaton!🔥🔥🔥
I love this song💕
How many references to Black Sabbath can one
put in a song.
No better way to start what may possibly be my last week at work than with sabaton's epic tribute to heavy metal!
have a nice retirement!

Sabaton -the best havy metal band ever!
Amazing tribute to to Metal classics!!!!!
One of my favorite Sabaton songs of all time. Can we all agree, that this (or Metal Crüe) is the best Song to end a Sabaton concert.😂😍
I especially like the uplifting rythm of IT😉🤗🤘
Yess Finally lyric video for the best Sabaton song out there!
This song is both a reason and an excuse for a speeding ticket. I have no clue how you managed to squeeze so much epicness into it!
Years of practice and an awesome and supportive army 😎
One of my favorite songs, great job!
“Love Guns?” “Come suck my metal machine?” You SURE this song is about a music genre?
Suck my metal machine
Heard this song for first time and now obsessed with it. When I first heard this song, I thought they said “nano machines” that would work too
Bands referenced in this song:
KISS, Judas Priest, Def Leppard, The Doors, Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Dio, Metallica, W.A.S.P., Guns 'n' Roses, Anthrax, Manowar, Deep Purple, Helloween, Rainbow, Motley Crue & Accept.

Great Song! My favourite lyrics: "Is it St.Anger the ultimate sin?" and my personal response: "Yes, It is!" Jason for ever! 😄😄😄😄😄
As always. Another beautiful track
This lyric video looks like they just put random assets and called it a video
Wake someone up by shouting "COME TOUCH MY METAL MACHINE! in their ear.
What a wonderful idea! 🤘🤘
I find it rather sad that they didn't take this PERFECT opportunity to honour PiscatorLager by making this thing in the style that he did. Oh well...
COME TOUCH MY METAL MACHIIINNUH!!!🐺🐺🐺🐺
I love this song so much but oh my god what is that video I'm crying
I love this song!!!!!😊
There are no words to describe how amazing the song and video are. Great job Sabaton🤘
Are you blind?
shit looks like it was made in garrysmod fkn nintendo 64 graphics
