Electrische Bussen - Electric Buses in The Netherlands

There have been several projects with Electric buses in the Netherlands. The first project was in Dordrecht in 1995. One of the buses of this project still exists in 2015 and is used for transport to the beach at Renesse. Utrecht uses electric buses on inner-city route 2. A similar project with small buses exists in Den Bosch. Larger scale electric operation take place at the Island of Schiermonnikoog (6 buses) and Schiphol Airport (35 buses). Both projects both uses Chinese build BYD buses. VDL has build a prototype electric bus. In 2015 it was tested in Maastricht. Another VDL bus was rebuild as hydrogen bus, but never went into service.

This is a one-off build by Berkhof on a chassis from Spijkstaal, builder of electric mobile shops, vans etc.
