Just how important is the down-down-up pluck technique? I was not a very experienced guitarist when I started learning lute and then oud, but one of the very fundamentals that is wired in my brain is to always alter down and up plucking. Even when I played electric guitar sometimes you only pluck downwards and some times you alter, but down-down-up is very alien to me and I've had difficulties practicing it, often just turning into the unconscious down-up I already have in my muscular memory. I can pluck very quickly and consistently like that obviously, but I still would ask a mentor before just ignoring that part to be sure. Great series btw there's a handful up here already but I think this is the best one.
0:18 basic scale 1:05 four notes practice 1:50 three notes movement practice 2:55 nice mezrab exercise 3:21 Mezrab 3 strokes practice. Persian style 4:13 philosophy of the maqam basic aspect
@@salsa6402 Hi, thank you. Mezrab is the persian term. I wasn't sure if to say Risha, which i think is more accurate. As in past days it was made out of a feather - Risha in Arabic.
@@GadTidharOud Thanks. If it is "Risha" it is equivalent to guitar's pick. So I take it you are showing us how to "mezrab" picking/plucking the Oud with all the MAQAM. Many thanks as I am seriously taking up OUD (although semi-good at guitar) and at 78 years old.Congrats. From SINGAPORE.
