Poison the Parish is a great album, well done! My favorite song on there is "I'll Survive." Shaun is a fantastic lyricist, and I 100% agree with him about writing songs that are about pain and shit times. As a songwriter myself, writing happy songs doesn't come naturally to me-not because I'm not a happy person-because they don't liberate the pain that's inside. Like Shaun said, writing those painful songs empties that shit out of your system, and THAT in turn is what makes you happy! Phew lol

" Let you down"= ( Take Out The Gunman: Chevelle ) Damn I was listening to an old Iron Maiden song tonight I can't remember which one it was for the life of me but I could not help but notice that Seether had borrowed that riff for one of their most popular songs. Then the most painfully obvious rip off Seether Nobody Praying For Me ripping off Brand New- Daisey almost word for word. I tried to defend Seether over and over because artists influences bleed in to their music but this is getting ridiculous.
I disagree. The only similarity between the two songs is the way the lines are delivered, i.e. "I'm a..." The chorus and the music itself are completely their own. That song and "Weak" are my two faves off Isolate and Medicate. Great album! Poison the Parish is fantastic too, my favorite song on there is "I'll Survive"
Listen to Let You Down and then listen to take out the gunman. The riff is similar. An interviewer asked him about No Body Praying for me being almost identical in the verses. He said because we are unoriganal and lazy at times. He even stated that he loved the band Brand New.
They are similar (good song, btw). Also take note that people commenting on THAT song are comparing it to the likes of Tool. I guess my point is, at some point originality isn't quite as original as you'd think it to be. Musicians are influenced by other musicians so yes, sometimes there will be songs that song closely related. It's good that Shaun admitted that, though. One of my favorite bands, Shinedown, has a song called "Atmosphere" that sounds very similar to a Stone Temple Pilots song called "Wicked Garden." Hell, they got their band name from a Collective Soul lyric (Shine- "Whoaahh, heaven let your light shine down")! Influencing each other isn't a bad thing, as long as you aren't solely ripping them off consistently because then that's just shitty lol :) Also giving credit where it is due is important!
