      You want to make sure you get tension when placing the sticks in. Keep practicing, you'll get it. If there isn't tension, then it most likely will fall out. What I do is take a hair stick, make a french twist, point the tip down towards your feet, then the pointed edge goes up through the twist, down into the little "nest" and you've got it. You'll know you've found the "nest" because there's a little pouch kind of feeling.

      @OhPerson8683 3 года назад +8

      @@miriya7413 Anything shoulder length you can start using hairsticks.
      Ideal hair length is very fluid, but pretty much whatever length you're happy with, and you can do the styles you want to.
      Ideal hair type isn't a factor with hairsticks or hair combs. You just need to make sure you're buying the right sticks and combs, for the length and type of hair that you have.

      i remember when i started.. i first tried french braiding on one side of my front parting and then add that braid into my ponytail.. Had to practice so much to get it neat..
      Once I had the technique down, i started french braiding my whole head of hair.. It took a lot of practice..
      Best time for practice is at night when you have to do your hair before bed..
      ..
      If EASY is what you want, try starting your french braids closer to the nape of your neck.. Like, start french braids from a lower point and go higher as you get better.. The higher you go, the thinner you'll have to make your partings, which is kind of hard to control but the technique is the same..

      For me, it took a LOT of REPETITIONS before I got it pat down. SInce it takes endurance and strength, I've to strategize by holding the whole braid with one hand to let the other hand rest down and alternate; the hand holding the braid will have to semi-rest on the head or a table/wall.
      Another tip is from my experience is how I visualize doing the braid while doing the braid; I close my eyes rather than open them. I let my hands feel where the strand will have to go. It's like how Blind people have more acute sense of feeling through their body .
      Dutch Braid is easier to do on self though; it is the inverse of French Braid and the braid is much more prominent.

    • @paris5410
      @paris5410 6 лет назад +4

      I recommend watching the French braid videos that Torrinpaige has. There are two (I think), one on how to French braid and one called the French braid revisited. Anyway, adding hair to both outer strands at the same time, then braiding them helps. Also to avoid the foofy bit around the nape of your neck you may find crossing the last two sections of hair before adding them to the strands is the key. I am not explaining myself very well. Torrinpaige does it better. She also explains how to hold the strands. If you have not got enough time to watch both just watch the French braid revisited, which is less detailed.

    Your old tutorials of hair sticks saved my life (French antenna and Chinese Bun) when my hair was waist length and not using any producy for hold (Harcore LHC er at the time too :P). Even tho my hair is shoulder length I still manage to do a french braid and weave the stick though and tuck my ends nicely! Genius and holds like a rock! Other styles like nautilus and wraps my hair laughs at, it is sooo slipery!

    I watched your video a while back and really loved this idea... since then I used a pencil for a while... then I ordered a sandalwood carved hair stick... it was beautiful but fell out of my hair because my hair is fine and slippery & the wood is very smooth so it doesn't grab the hair at all... then I ordered a sterling silver two-prong hair stick that was costly but extremely beautiful... it is quite short... I am learning how to use it but found immediately that no pressure can be put on it because the prongs bend very easily... I am going to order some more different hair sticks... also I tried using the "orange sticks" that one can buy for doing manicure and they work wonderful especially using two sticks... Thanks for a great video.... Your hair sticks are different because of the wide part in the middle.... maybe that is what I need for my very slippery hair... My hair is waist-length but thin and fine.

    I used to make hair ties with plants lol I felt bad people would use leather and metal it’s just interesting how hair accessories are a thing to use cuz we are creatures too and animal don’t care about styling their fur 😂like we do

    the only technique that works for me is the french twist. My hair is probably too fine, short and smooth for the other techniques.

    That is a lazy wrap bun, not the nautilus. The nautilus has a twisted start (the "talk to the hand" motion), which is what makes it able to be held on its own for some hair types. My hair will stay for about 3 seconds with a nautilus sans stick, but a LWB will not stay at all. There is no way for it to hold itself. So they're similar, but not the same bun!

      Oops! I was unsure about that one twist as I was doing it, seems I picked the wrong option after all

    I think that hair sticks break the hair when you push them into the bun

    I'm in my late sixties with hair past my backside I've always had long hair, I worship in an international known uniformed church known for brass bands, social care,homelessness and charity, I play in the band etc I have tried so so many ways to hold hair in place from hundreds of hair line to double combs, but I always go back to these hair sticks, if your not wanting to spend lots on trying them out but some cheap ones on eBay I own them ranging in price from cheap to I don't want to admit too

    I used to do this at work when I wanted my hair out of the way but all I had on hand was a pencil.

    I didnt feel comfortable with a hair stick. It wasnt sticking rather it begged to come out. Although it did look nicer on my hair too😲🙄
