I literally agree it's just going to be more forgettable especially when you're playing the same call of duty or assassin's Creed in my perspective at least.
Great review. I might buy atelier lulua for the Nintendo switch later on. It really looks cool. But do I have to play the previous atelier games to understand this one?
No you don t need to have played the former ones, and that pretty much relates to any title of the series, but you will have that little bit more fun if you did play them because of reacuring and related characters. Ryza is a good starting point at the moment, even though/or maybe because some elements have been dumped down compared to the rest of the series(battle-items way less important->alchemy pretty much "only" for equipment and tools). But to be honest you can start with any first game in their trilogy to get the most out of it. (Even though i m not that fond of the mysterious trilogy, but on the other hand ayesha is one of my favorites, which is generally refered as a weaker one, and the mysterious trilogy has his fanbase) "Older" dx/plus titles may really be a better way to get into the series because you get all the dlc included. The arland trilogy is still really good today.
Florian Schneider okay thanks.😊 I'm thinking about buying atelier ryza for the Nintendo switch and also the other atelier games for the Nintendo switch and ps3. They all look like interesting and relaxing games to start with too.😃
Just for clarification. The atelier-series is mainly organized in trilogies. There are some 2-parters and lulua is the forth part of the arland series. Every series will feature a new world and characters even though there may be a occasionally really rare crossover from a favorite character, but that is more fanservicy than storywise related. Ryza is the beginning of the "secret" series, so pretty much a blank slade. Lulua on the other hand is a loose sequell to rorona-totori-meruru (arland). I personally like the dusk trilogy the most ayesha-esha and lodgy-shallie, but it is a bit(not by that much) more serious in tone than other titles. Sophie-firis-lydie and suelle build the mysterious trilogy. And like i said. There is no need to play older titles even within a trilogy. They can be played all stand alone. All plotpoints will be explained, just some returning characters will maybe leave you scratching your head, but there will be always justifications in the same title for their kind of relationships/behaviours. They will just be more fleshed out if you played older titles sharing the same world.
Florian Schneider okay thanks for the clarification.😃 I haven't really played the other atelier games since I finished the atelier iris games for the ps2, so it's going to be great to play the atelier games again, and I'll probably start with atelier lulua first and then atelier lydie and sulle, and the other atelier games for the Nintendo switch and ps3. Thanks for the recommendation.😊
Adopted daughter?! oh for crying out loud, I was eager to find out who her father was. They really just didn't wanna imply that Rorona had sex with anyone I bet.
Cool! I just recieved my Switch collectors edition yesterday but I haven't played it yet. Good to know it's been done well I love this series. Thanks for the review.
I’d say you could. There are some small references to previous games here but the majority of the story focuses on Lulua and her journey and not as much on the previous games.
Not sure yet for the Western release. Even the Digital Deluxe Edition of Lulua on the US eShop only contains the first season pass which is the "Lulua" pass. So we'd have to wait until those Meruru/Totori passes come West, but considering the fact that the contents of the Lulua pass are currently not available for individual purchase, I would assume those others would probably be a matter of buying the pass.
If you mean the load times, they're pretty short. Only a couple seconds to load into battle and going into dungeons is only a few seconds. The longest times are probably when loading an event scene, which I've never really seen go above 5-6 seconds.
Does this game have an english voice option? I’ve always preferred playing the Atelier games with english audio. I haven’t played the newest series of games, but I heard that some of them don’t have an english voice option. Is it the same with this one?
I like these games, but the time limits always stress me out for some reason lol. I always feel like im playing the game wrong... Very interested in this one not having time limits. The interrupt feature sounds very neat too. I think I'll pick this up after work today 👍
I would love to try one of these games, but they all look so cheap and careless as if the developers don‘t even care, just pump one out ever year. And if the developers don‘t care, I don‘t think I should either.
Great review thank you even tho I bought the game already lol, glad there is no time limit at all
Thanks for the review. I'm convinced to buy this.
I like the Atelier series, but annual releases + $ DLC season passes is too much for me, needs more time in the oven imo to be worth that

Someone answer this pls.

Glad the review is positive, but not sure if I want to play this game on the ps4 any longer, but I don't have a switch either.
I've never played an Atelier game before. Do you think I could hop into this game & enjoy it without any knowledge of the previous games?
I’d say you could. There are some small references to previous games here but the majority of the story focuses on Lulua and her journey and not as much on the previous games.
I liked the series and I started to go through them all from the Atelier Iris. Epic!
it feels laggy when shes running or walking or turning the camera... its not included on your review
Are the dlc characters only available through season passes, or can they be purchased individually? Thanks for the review, great job!

Thank you very much for your review.
can i pick this up if i havent played the previous ones?
yes, but you will enjoy more if you played the older series
Does the game ever mention anything about what became of Gino?
It looks amazing. Great review!
I've never heard of this series and it looks like amazing RPGs, which one do you think is better to start with on Switch ?
Ryza
how is the loading screen? and i am interested just because the time limits.

hows the challenge? is there any difficulty setting available?
good review thanks
Atelier Series the Best!
Does this game have an english voice option? I’ve always preferred playing the Atelier games with english audio. I haven’t played the newest series of games, but I heard that some of them don’t have an english voice option. Is it the same with this one?
No English dub. Ever since Atelier Lydie, all of the new games that aren’t ports/remasters have been Japanese audio only.
Ok, that’s too bad. It’s not a deal breaker, but it was nice having the option.
Wow, what an amazing review for a game Ive never seen
looks good
What if I havent played Arland? Is it still worth getting?
potato61192 it’s okay to pick this one up. You can technically just pick up and play atelier rorona and then pick up Arland of scion.
Cause of you. I bought this game a month ago during quarantine and I had a lot of fun playing this game and I only payed $55.00 for the physical copy
i will buy it ^^
I like these games, but the time limits always stress me out for some reason lol. I always feel like im playing the game wrong... Very interested in this one not having time limits. The interrupt feature sounds very neat too. I think I'll pick this up after work today 👍
Lydie also doesnt have a time limit.
Should I play the first 3 games before this one?
no. And the series is expensive, long and has some nasty time mechanics.
Gotta pay for Totori and Meruru? Pass. Bet you can’t even play as Sterkenburg...
You can. He and Rorona are the two returning playable characters.
Reviews 2 Go Ah, that’s a relief. Then I’ll consider it when it goes down in price a bit.
I would love to try one of these games, but they all look so cheap and careless as if the developers don‘t even care, just pump one out ever year.
And if the developers don‘t care, I don‘t think I should either.
While I love this series, I'm not going to justify $80+ to get the full experience....
I. Hate the. Time. Change!
This series really needs to get the attention it deserves
