    From a Irish fan been saying for years Georgia should be in the 6 nation's. Should be a promotion relegation. They deserve a chance. Italy are a disgrace. Georgia are far better. More physical and last the whole game

    • @winco68
      @winco68 2 года назад

      6N refuse to entertain the promotion/relegation format because it would threaten the historical integrity of the tournament.
      IE. If Scotland were to be relegated it would void both the Calcutta Cup and the Triple Crown. These amateur era titles are still holding sway 26 years into the pro era!

    • @kurtpunchesthings2411

      @@winco68 don't you fucking disrespect the Triple Crown it's a historic Trophy really fucking hard to win a legacy going way way way back to 1883 were talking 139 years of History fun fact it predates the rugby world Cup by 106 years

    • @winco68
      @winco68 2 года назад

      @@kurtpunchesthings2411 I’m not disrespecting it I’m merely drawing attention to the fact that it’s an amateur era title and one of many reasons why 6N refuses to expand or alter the format of the tournament.
      So many on here bleating on about this team
      and that team will be joining the 6N soon they won’t. People should do some research into the history of the tournament and realise that it’s not ‘open’ before they start making sweeping statements!
      PS. Triple Crown pre dates WC by 104 years.

      Italy has beaten France, Japan, Argentina, Scotland, Wales, South Africa and Ireland. How can you state that Georgia are “far better” after winning one game, at home, against an Italian team with many injuries? The only “disgrace” is your lack of respect for a rugby nation.

    • @winco68
      @winco68 2 года назад +3

      @@giacomopellizzari4135 Very true. Italy are far from a disgrace. They do struggle at times but they play out of their skins and never give up.
      Another point worth mentioning is that unlike the other 5 teams they weren’t an established Rugby nation in that it wasn’t a major sport in the country until fairly recently and they gained their place in the tournament on merit which was unprecedented at the time.

    Why isn’t Georgia in the 6 nations

    • @winco68
      @winco68 2 года назад +4

      It isn’t because 6N is a private tournament owned and operated by the 6 Unions each of which is a stakeholder. They are the 6 wealthiest Unions in Europe by a long way and don’t want to risk the finances of the tournament by admitting a financially weaker Union.

    • @joaofigueiras1106
      @joaofigueiras1106 2 года назад +4

      nah, that creates an uneven number of teams so it's only two games per week. Plus, if it had promotion and relagation the scottish would never accept them since in a few years time they will be the wooden spoon holders and they don't want to be relagated

    • @winco68
      @winco68 2 года назад +3

      It’s all academic neither Georgia or any other team will be joining the 6N any time soon.
      It’s a private tournament and the 6 stakeholder unions have been clear that they’re not interested in expanding the tournament and as stakeholders of a private tournament nobody can force them to not even World Rugby.

      @@joaofigueiras1106 It doesn't have to be a straightforward pro-rel. I think EuroLeague basketball has some teams (clubs) that are fixed and some teams that are not. The Six Nations could be modified to where England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, France are fixed and there's three more teams that are eligible to be promoted-or-relegated depending on who has lowest record. There would be a secondary competition encompassing the other European states plus Argentina and South Africa. Meanwhile, the Southern Hemisphere competition replaces the latter two with Pacific Island states.
      The reformatted 6N could then be broken up into two groups of four randomized teams. The team with the best record of each group then faces each other to determine overall winner.
