I have rented budget apartments in the Sunset Crest area several times. I like the area it is only a 5-minute walk from the beach; the Medical Centre and a 10-minute walk to restaurants and the grocery store. No car is needed. The bus is easy to use to get to all areas of the island.
My apartment was only a 5-minute walk to the BEACH CLUB (see my next video). THE BEACH CLUB is a wonderful facility in Sunset Crest, usually included in an apartment rental. The apartment owner provides you with an electronic card to access the Beach Club facilities: ocean view deck and pool; showers; toilets; lockers. It is a wonderful, additional benefit of renting an apartment in this area.
Most of the apartments are listed on Airbnb or VRBO. Once you get to know the owner, it is possible to rent directly from them and save money. Some travellers have rented the same unit for over 10 years! I feel safe in Holetown..that is why I love going there. See my video Tips for Barbados. Like anywhere, use common sense. ie no walking alone in unlit streets, etc. Always bring a good flashlight.. i use a headlamp at night and good walking shoes for safety.

Glad you found the apartment! The reef near the Beach Club has some fish...parrot, blue tang, and I almost stepped on a small eel fish when I walked into the water. You can see it on one of my snorkel videos. I did 3 videos about snorkelling on the off-shore reefs; check them out on my playlist.
Are there alot of mosquitoes in Barbados? Doesn't the air conditioner above the bed blow on you? Do you pay cash on the bus? $5 Bajan for any local ride between Holetown and Bridgetown?
