Flaming eye ball, fire in apple, Lava/fire melting safe, flaming flower. Upon doing Dr Ratio's Trailblazer continuous quest we learn that Duke Inferno can literally create life off of his flames. Meaning he's literally their father and not some kind of mafia or adopted members. Which also makes them all siblings. Imagine having a puppet controlled by something out of beauty and the beast and a guy with a big fuck off cello as siblings lol XD

And the abstract opening implied that they were born from a satanic ritual or something related to his flames. With the goat in a circle bleading gold. (Probably representing Ifrit using his own blood (flame) to create them). We've seen what it's like when Duke Inferno makes something out of a small bit of his flames. Who says he can't make humanoid beings with more of his flames and time to cultivate them? And what is considered perfect? Is it the chances of success in their mission? Or is it their physical form? Akash is wearing sunglasses so we can't be sure but i feel like he's blind and uses sound from his Cello to hear. (His eye abstract motif). Dubra isn't even human, is hollow and uses a puppet to be close to human as possible (her abstract is a hollow apple) Caterina seems to be missing her feet. Needs heavy metal prostetics and a ball and chain. (Her abstract is a melting vault. My mind is imagining that her feet were literally on fire or something like Zagreus and had them removed. The heavy weights probably to keep her grounded and in check) And then Caterina has no defects. Sure she has horns and a tail but it can easily be dismissed as hereditary thing from a far off planet species. (Her abstract is a flaming flower that's wilting yet still burns. I wonder if this means her lifespan is shorter or she has some time related ability to use against the Remembrance) And that's not to mention how familial they all are towards Duke Inferno. Caterina even calls him old man. They're all children wanting to make their father proud.
I really liked the Loufu not for the story necessarily, but so much implied lore, so much interconnected stuff; I really hope they can capture just a fraction of that feeling in penacony together with a banger storyline

Just one small correction: the antagonist faction you point out near the beginning is actually the Ever-Flame Mansion, sub-faction of the Annihilation Gang, followers of Destruction who have in fact been mentioned before (and were a part of the Herta Space Station Trailblaze Continuance). The Family, rather, is a Harmony faction that's putting on the celebration on Penacony, with Sunday and Robin being members.

The moment my hype went to the roof was when they announced Shaoji is also behind Penacony. He was the leader of the writting team behind Elysium Realm, and Elysia writer in HI3, one of the most memorable characters I ever saw in a video game. Elysium Realm arc was magical, with one of it's biggest accomplishments being developing ~15 entire new characters so damn well. Feat you only find in writters with outstanding hability, like Narita (Baccano and Fate Strange Fake). And just a small nitpick on the vid Maverick (some folks already pointed out the "Ever Flame Mansion" and "The Family" confusion from what I saw) but at 6:40 you said "Ei" there right? But Acheron seems more a alternate version from Mei of HI3, which "Ei" from GI is a expy of. You can even notice she has Raiden Mei red lighting and similar design to the HoT form.

Like Jingliu isn't a flawed character XD The things she did to Blade horrifies me. And Blade became flawed and messed up because of it. In Belabog characters did clash personality wise. Bronya with Seele. Serval with Gepard. Being the pimary two. The Loufu introduced more fleshed out and complex characters as they're long life species who have lives hundreds of years. There's more trauma involved, past relationships that soured, betrayal, the characters themselves changing (be it personality or appearance wise) there's a lot remembered and a lot forgotten. And they've probably lost a lot of loved short life speices. Problem is tho, you gotta read a lot of in game item lore to piece together what happened in the past and the characters history and relationships. With Penacony we'll be getting characters from different factions with clashing ideals and philosophy. No known long life species are present so less history to look back on but it means we get to witness the characters develop themselves. Also, fucking no one is going to be trusting each other. I bet its going to be one of those Agatha Christie Mysteries where we try and find the culprit. There's even a freaking quest called "Who donnit?" Confirmed for 2.0. I will admit while i love drama and mystery, i am not looking forward to being betrayed and tricked etc. Got trust issues and it really messes me up 🥲 You know who was fine because it was cool af, they fking died kek and i got spoiled by thumbnails. I'm caught up now after dilly dallying since launch so this time i won't get spoiled 😎
Yeah, there are definitely some complex characaters, some being Bronya and Seele, but like you said, for most it's hidden away. I think lore is fine, but when a character's complexity is mostly hidden in character logs, it begs the question of whether the character is actually complex or not. Lol. Super looking forward to a whodunit tho! That sounds really fun. Lol
Im looking forward to that video on characterisation because its been on my mind recently that its...hard for them to write characters when from the outset they cant change much over the story, if at all. Honkai impact let the characters grow without invalidating the "younger" versions for gameplay because from the start the thing you pulled for was considered a "suit" of that cgaracter instead of a representation of tje character themselves. But Genshin and so far mostly Star Rail have been trying to sell you on an entire character in one go when they want you to pull them - its not just about what the battlesuit can do in combat while you enjoy the story separately, its about making you want to own every one of these characters and therefore pull on every banner. Unfortunately this means if theyve got a story planned for the character at all they wind up strangling anything we can learn about them from the character stories - i mean really think about how little we understand about Dan Heng from BOTH his characters because theyve got to draw it out so much to make each character its own thing instead of just...letting us understand him at all. The fact theyre willing to have multiple versions of at least him has me hopeful that theyll let the Trailblaze crew at the very least grow over the course of the story, i just hope its handled better than with him 😅 Everyone else though? The one off characters? Theyre kept very shallow outside of what they show us directly in quests, and then thats it, they wont change beyond where they were left at when the story moved on so that any sign of them is promoting the character that you can pull for instead of someone a bit different and hard to consider the same person

Hoyoverse is good at copying the superficial appeals of different franchises. Sadly, I think the story will get caught up in its theme of dreams and underutilize the Las Vegas, 1920’s cartoon style. I rly rly hope this villains gallery works out, but they’re likely going to be watered down for marketing purposes :/ The ads were rly well done tho true

I hated that place so much I wanted to quit several times. But I know I'm in the minority of that. I loved Xianzhou Luofu... Until they started introducing characters I didn't like, like Guinifen(sp?). I wish we could have seen some of the other ships, and hope we still might be able to later on. I just dread that this new place will be horrible for me, like Jarillo-6 was. As for the characters in that first one you mentioned, as i saw others say: They are "The Everflame Mansion" but they are also known as "The Annihilation Gang" - (please note: I am unsure if they are ALL of the gang, or just part of it). They arent liked by Nanook (acording to (I think) Herta) but they follow him. Unlike the group that Phantylia is with: The lord ravengers. the Annihilation gang is looked down upon by them. Though i doubt Ifrit cares. They are the second group to follow Nanook. Every Aeon seems to have 2 factions that follow them. Like the IPC and the Architects for Qlipoth(sp?) and The Xianzhou Aliance and the Galaxy Rangers who both follor Lan. But anyway, I liked the video, this was the first one I have seen from you. I'll take a look at some of your others.
Jarilo VI definitely has messy details but overall still flowed well, had good character moments and an astounding finale against Cocolia. The Luofu meanwhile felt really unfocused and didn’t do justice for Dan Heng, the astral express or the Luofu characters who were exceptional despite how disappointing the main arc was. Penacony is hard to read. On the one hand, it’s good to see the focus is back on our actual MC but then I see all these guest characters and factions involved and have a bad feeling that this arc will fall into the same traps as the Luofu which was it pulling us in way too many directions and not cooking anything properly and with the time it needed. Still, despite that concern, I’m sure it’ll be an interesting show one way or another.
Just gonna say right now, i think it will be fire! Every cutscene for 2.0 got leaked (I let the intrusive thoughts win and watched the whole thing) and it seemed really good. So I *think* it should be fine to have high expectations.
@@StrayMaverick so what i’ve got out of penacony is that it was once a penal colony for criminals, the hotel was a prison, it is currently ran by a organization known as the family, and soulglad is an important and substance everyone in penacony is obsessed about, to the point that it runs in their waterway system, this makes me think that soulglad is a addictive hallucinogen, and “the family” is both a organized crime group and a substance cult, essentially every visitor who arrives in that world is under the influence the moment they check in this is hinted in the trailer when gallagher is shown, the walls flicker from hotel walls to grey prison walls, my guess is that the annihilation gang is just a red herring, the true villain of this arc is penacony itself the inhabitants are so under the influence that they become unstable once the substance stops coming, they might even become the downfall of the annihilation gang, our group would have to take out some of the characters from penacony we spent getting to know in order to leave, and the story ends with penacony slowly reverting back to it’s violent roots, essentially it’s a story where overall the conclusion is a “bad ending” unlike jarillo VI or xianzhou which has a debatably “good ending”
