Hi there I'm interested in building my own as a recumbent, so glad I found your build, looks awesome!! I realize that it's been over a year since you posted, but perhaps a follow-up video would be helpful
Jeeezzz youtube needs to promote this kind of channel instead of the Kardashians, onlyfans, and other stuff that is absolutely not important. Let's promote this.
so uh, this material is pretty strong and lightweight. I want to make a jump box for working out out of said material but I don't know if it will work out. Thanks for this video! gives pretty good insight
I had the idea of building my own road bike and my friends called me stupid now seeing this totally gives me hope even tho I'm still in high school but I definitely want to try to build my own !! I'll check out the link now and is there anyway u can help me ?? Like how to build them step by step or how to do it ?? One week is short !! I really wanna do it !!! Did u use any special equipments ??
Yes, it is! I shopped around and bought a frame from a guy going through a divorce... he really didn't weigh much and never abused the frame. Then I just switched over my good Campy parts
i'm worry about this frame strength and durability.. will it work only by sticking carbon sheets and resin without any molding compressing, vacuum effect and heating?
+Mr Noh I actually wrapped the carbon fibre with the non sticky side of some electrical tape (its kind of hard to see in the video). I also left the bike to cure overnight with a space heater on, the room was approximately 33 degrees C.
Oh thank.. good to know that.. would like to watch your test riding..and what is the achieved weight..I'm learning too to make an electric bike carbon fiber/aluminum frame..
The heating should be a very low priority concern in comparison to the absence of compressing or vacuum bagging. Heat just helps minimize cure time; unless it’s prepreg; this project isn’t. Compression/vacuum eliminates air bubbles. It’ll probably be fine; but depending on how you’re riding, “probably” doesn’t always cut it.
Haha I wish. She still rides, haven't had any problems. I guess its not obvious but the rear dropouts, bottom bracket, and head tube are aluminum. I coated them with fibreglass before doing the carbon to prevent galvanic corrosion
I’m still riding it today! I would use a larger compression wrap on the carbon fibre when it’s curing. In this video I used electrical tape wrapped sticky side out, I would try to find some 3” wide tape if I was to do this again
Have tested ride the bike? I wonder how bad are the chemicals on the table and smell? Level of toxine? Risks? What are all these material used? Can you list them here?
I wrapped electrical tape "sticky side" out around the carbon fibre. I actually had a baseboard heater in the room, I Insulated the thermocouple and cranked it to max power.
Hola estoy en un proyecto de fabricacion de bicicletas, de que material hizo el núcleo? se puede realizar curado al vacio en este proceso? excelente bici. gracias Saludos!
Good work! I just want to say to all you doing a build or wishing to. I'm not an advocate of aliexpress. But it'd how I bought my fiber it was all cutoffs. Its strong and was 16 bucks a meter. Resin I got local. Use epoxy olfor a frame its stronger. I used vinylester as my parts get exposed to fuel. But be does not adhere to carbon good. Honestly a fiberglass bike is a super cheap option. Check out some bike books with one offs. Some do not use vaccum just like this guy.
+matrix us Yes, you need to wrap the carbon fibre with the non-sticky side of electrical tape to squeeze out the excess epoxy, It also ensures the layers of carbon fibre stick together well. You also need to cure the bike over night at about 35 degrees C to ensure the epoxy has reached its maximum strength.
Won't acetone also affect the integrity of the resin? Ive been thinking of doing exactly the same thing to build a recumbent trike. I plan on leaving the foam in there. it will add strength like a toucan beak and the weight is minimal.
Did you just build that as sculpture or as a real frame? Asking because it seems like there's no possibility to add a saddle. Do you have a follow up of the assembled bike?
You could just let it be, since it wont change the weight (maybe a couple of grams), or you could pour acetone into the frame which would dissolve the foam.
Awesome!! You inspired me to start my own carbon fiber project because I've always wondered how they build bike frames with carbon fiber. Thanks for sharing your home built project.
+Jānis Mencis the frame is really strong it can handle a lot of weight, yes it can be fixed geared, I spent a week working on this, and yes its styrofoam
Thanks for inspiring me with your project, I did something different to build my own carbon frame, but the idea is the same. I would be curious to see the result of your project. You may take a look to my videos. Thanks!
Can I carry this video to another website? I think this video is doing very well, so I want to share it with friends and other netizens. If you do not agree, I will delete the video I am carrying the moment I see your information. Thank you
This is a sweet time-lapse of how to not build a carbon bike. oK, that is maybe a little over-stated, but he is wearing a particulate mask for carcinogenous gasses in confined space. There is even some chance of an explosion, not just getting cancer or a headache or irreversible nervous system damage. Simple fix: Harbor Freight has a $15-20 mask for fumes and it lasts a long time if you are using it only occasionally. As far as the quality of the build, that's enough carbon, but is it first wiped (impregnated) with epoxy, and then secondly, is it quickly compressed before too much time goes by, so that the tubes have strength. Voids in the carbon, air bubbles and non-compressed areas, will be weak and break and crack and then, voila, one day you are rolling along a 5,000' decent at 75 Kph and ... you die. Carbon fails magically... not something to mess with unless you have an engineering degree and a lot of experience... or a week or two to study with a builder, there's a lot you can screw up real fast. People try to reverse-wrap with electrical tape, but that is not a reasonable method, it is imprecise and you will have areas of weakness and that will catch up to you and you will end up with a broken hip/head/dead. I am considering building a single-wheel trailer, but even that is quite challenging, at least to do a good job. Good luck on whatever your project may be! Just be careful and prudent, not penny wise and pound foolish. Know when it make sense to spend some money.
Admire your determination, but, without vacuum process?? Try to adapt their production to use a vacuum pump next time, it is the minimum necessary to give strength to the part, joining the carbon fiber layers, remove air bubbles and improve the ratio fiber/resin, a part with much resin will be poorer. The difference can be striking; a part made using the vacuum process may be up to three times stronger than one made without the same process.
For everyone asking, I still ride this bike and have had no problems with it
Plz share a video on the cycle...
why you dont recording video then u ride?
Can you use it on trail riding?
Then why didnt you film ot yet
Prove it
Hey man this was amazing! You should do a video explaining everything step by step for the mortals who only dream about doing this kind of stuff
would love to see this broken down into more detailed episodes. thanks great video.

Lovely mate. Any follow up videos?
Hello. What happened to the styrofoam inside after it was completed?
can you upload the finish product im interested in making one
Nice base
is that a foam the white thing ??
ugh.... i spent 3000bucks buying a carbon frame and this dude... lol just crazy
nice vid btw
ik its fucking ridiculous how expensive bikes are nowadays like fr some even cost 10k fucking hell you could buy a car with that
WheyTooManyGainzz Ikr too expensive
Yes, it is! I shopped around and bought a frame from a guy going through a divorce... he really didn't weigh much and never abused the frame. Then I just switched over my good Campy parts
Well if you think this will be any good, you're wrong.

Fantastic! I will try a folder when I get the cash !

It’ll be just fine, real carbon fiber bikes are made in sections and then glued together so it’s basically the same
What is that white material that formed the skeleton n it remains in forever?
Part 2 will never be uploaded as this thing definitely killed him on the first ride.
Haha I wish. She still rides, haven't had any problems.

@@prematureYeet Well damn, color me impressed. Congrats!
i'm glad you're still alive 😁
Dang! I would like to do the same project you had. Do you have an IG?
@@prematureYeet how do i make a stronger version of this?
i had the same idea. i would really love to know how this held up, and what you would do differently, etc!
I’m still riding it today! I would use a larger compression wrap on the carbon fibre when it’s curing. In this video I used electrical tape wrapped sticky side out, I would try to find some 3” wide tape if I was to do this again
@@prematureYeet right on, thanks for the response! I'll keep that in mind.
@@prematureYeet WOW Man.
it should be a pride to ride that bike huh.
awesome man
❤Und was wiegt das carbon im Vergleich zu dein original Rahmen
Have tested ride the bike? I wonder how bad are the chemicals on the table and smell? Level of toxine? Risks? What are all these material used? Can you list them here?
it's awesome...congrats for new bike...but I have a question....how you cured it? did you use any vacuum pump or oven??
I wrapped electrical tape "sticky side" out around the carbon fibre. I actually had a baseboard heater in the room, I Insulated the thermocouple and cranked it to max power.
2022 bike still whole? still alive?
hi Gagan ,
thanks for you video . Could you please tell me whtat type of carbon fiber did you use and also what tipe of glue . ? thanks
How many m2 carbon fibre fabric to build entire frame?
will pain stop when you get in wreck
How did you get the Styropor out?
What metiriel is used
Great work!
How much is it weight?
How much did the frame weigh afterwards?
How did it work out? Update vid please.
Obrigado por responder, onde posso encontrar esse material é o mesmo isopor?
Hey bro, are you still using that frame? Or it is not usable any longer?
Maybe he had an life threatningaccident with that frame as no new videos are posted...

does the carbon fiber need any other type of process
hi man nice work can you give me a link where i find carbon fiber with the good cost please :)
Where I can buy the carbon fiber and the resin ??? Thansk for the video
did the bottom bracket come out OK, I have a aluminum frame but I was thinking of making a carbon frame for track?
Just like home built airplanes (real airplanes). Great video.
does wrapping with tape helps strength

nice job dude.
im thinking to reinforced my alloy frame with this method, is this bike strong enough ??
Qual manta de carbono usou ,tem alguma especial indica onde comprar e qual ?.
I like watching these 3D printers.
joynthis : lol, u ain't right in the head.
is that polystyrene youre wrapping it around?
Any update with this frame? Can we watch you ride it?
So how did it turn out?
well played!
How much did the whole frame end up costing? Very cool build.
+Ian McVicker Around 200$ in parts.
+Gagandeep Singh wow, thats cheap... with electromotor ??
How many layer you used to made top tube and down tube?
how did you join the rear gear to the carbon fiber?
Hello dude, I am really wondering what happened to your bike? Is it still working? How is sturdiness? Please reply back dude.
where is the second part
Brilliant project. What happens with the styrifoam afterwards?
+Stuart Morris Thanks! I melt it out with acetone.

@@airealguy acetone will dissolve the resin. You should just leave it in there. Hydrogen peroxide will not dissolve it.

+Franz Josef Kaiser Check the description for updates on the project
hi gagan.am from andhra and would like to learn how to make bicycle frame and what calibration and design flow .appreciate ur help pls
What kind of foam did you use
so how was the bike?
Круто!!! Очень здорово что занимаетесь этим!!!!!
Hilarious. There's a very good reason why there is no update video of him riding it!
I got rhymes like dimes. Sweet bike btw looking into doing something similar for a racing moped
So first you made a Replica of the frame with Styropor, and then covered it with FiberGlass?
IS THE FRAME RESISTANT ANOTH ?
Did the frame work? How much carbon fiber did you use and what type?
+TheGreatOldOak The frame works great and I used 3K twill carbon fibre, its a fairly common type of carbon fibre and is extremely conformable.
what did you wrap the down tube with at 1:46?
Jay Sims aluminum foil
+Gagandeep Singh
How would you remove the foam from the inside?
You could just let it be, since it wont change the weight (maybe a couple of grams), or you could pour acetone into the frame which would dissolve the foam.
+Monkyman245 which material is he using for mold .. ??
Another viewer suggests hydrogen peroxide to melt it
inspiration 👍, thanks
Well, is that strong enough to ride on it?
Impossible
I doubt it is usable and safe to ride ?...
Hello. Great inspiring idea!!!!
Did you had any difficulty to remove the electrical tape after the cure?
Nope it came off super easy
this 2 pieces ...How do I send the photos?
Awesome!! You inspired me to start my own carbon fiber project because I've always wondered how they build bike frames with carbon fiber. Thanks for sharing your home built project.
hello I would like to know how to solve the mold of these two photos. I wish you could help me greetings from belgium
is that white stuff in the beginning styropor?
if u find that material please give me name of that white material
Think that is a foam board at 0:39
what happened to the end of the vid?
How much weight can it handle?
Can it be a fixed gear?
Hom many hours you spent on it?
And is that styro foam on the frame? :D
+Jānis Mencis the frame is really strong it can handle a lot of weight, yes it can be fixed geared, I spent a week working on this, and yes its styrofoam
can anybody name that white mold material .....
Brilliant!
Boa tarde! Como cortar o molde e que material usa pra fazer o molde.
+Magno Souza Eu fiz o molde com embalagem de espuma de poliestireno e uma faca
amazing
Where is the video that shows you actually riding it?
Cutbacks at the Trek factory have been rough!
Thanks for inspiring me with your project, I did something different to build my own carbon frame, but the idea is the same. I would be curious to see the result of your project. You may take a look to my videos. Thanks!
Hello Gagandeep,
can you built for me a kid bike frame 16 " in carbon ?
what is the green tape? :)
+Nicholai Andersen regular painters tape
+Gagandeep Singh okay.. how long time do carbon take to dry? :)
do you ride that frame?
diggin this song tho
