For me one of the biggest issues on the cheap Xenyx mixers are the volume pots. They start making crackling noises real fast and the balance tends to shift around slightly when changing the volume. I would recommend geting a slightly higher quality mixer, maybe with faders instead of knobs.
I have had a lot of experience with the Allen and Heath mixers and you cant go wrong with them especially the Zed series. I have a Zed 28 and it works like a charm... The only down side is the cost. :)
ok - still reviewing this before final purchase and ran some tests on my digital studio today - with this mixer you can run the main outs into your Computer studio line in and run the studio monitors off your Computer studio main out - this allows you to use the mixer as a junction box so you can record any mixer input live into Adobe Soundbooth, while playing the studio track you're working from. You can then save the .wav file and load it up as a channel or sample into your digital studio. With live recordings no matter how tight and accurate digital files / samples do start to drift slightly after about 30 seconds, so best to splice the recording into 30 second pieces, easy enough to sound continuous and you can additional post production FX in the studio software.
Great Setup.. But for some reason everyones Videos are for doing live broadcast at a gym or bar. I bought the Xenyx 802 to run my internet radio show.. so thanks for your video.
Hi great little setup you have there… bought the same mixer only having a noise issue on the usb input from my iPad please do you have any advice on how to resolve this problem… thanks
One tip for anyone that owns it, if you are using it for live sound, buy a cheap £15 3 channel mixer from maplins, and run that into the mic input, allows a couple more mics, with individual volume controls, and the 2nd mixer dosent need extra power, and it still sounds fine :)
I bought mine about 2 years ago and I struggled to get decent sound, because it has crappy preamps. I recently replaced it with a Mackie 402VLZ4 and now get much better recordings. The Mackie even has a mains on/off switch.
nice thanks for the review i bought one of craigslist for 20 dollars with no power ac it was a pain in the ass to get a new one i took one month because they wernt in stock anywhere and i found one on amazon and bought it it looks like a good mixer
Good content man. How did you get a reverb on your mic? Is there a special settings on the mixer other than the fx knob? For some reason I don’t get a reverb on mine. I wanted to do live streaming and or recording. Thank you
I have exactly the same unit and I have a xlr cabled microphone and phono jack microphone, like yours, how do I balance the output of both without feedback?
I have this mixer and a mac book pro, but i can't find a driver. The downloads on the Behringer website aren't clear and I can't get any of them to work. Any thoughts?
so this is considered a power mixer right? with this mixer i would have to connect to passive speakers, right? one last question, to use microphone for audio broadcast/podcasting, I would need a Audio Interface correct?
I could listen to you talk about gear all day bro. I wish you could do some work for Behringer or Allen and Heath, just talking about gear in your house. I'd love it. :-)
when you're going out from your computer, are you putting the 1/8" jack into the headphone jack, then, using unbalanced 1/4" RCA adaptors into a channel on the mixer? I'm trying to figure out if one of my cables are suspect, or if I actually need to get unbalanced 1/4" adaptors... You're help is appreciated! Thanks!
How do you connect up the audio mixer to a laptop without a USB connection. I have an audio interface and 802. All I want to do is connect this to mixer to use with Zoom or TEAMS microsoft for meetings. Also, At some point I want to start recording music.... vocals and guitar. How do you think this mixer (Behringer 802) compares with the SubZero SZ-mix04? Which would you choose? Thank you Joe. I need help with this area as I'm a beginner!! Thank you
I am sorry for being anoying but last question I need to hook up the mixer to my pc to get music and singing by a Mic that is hooked up in the mixer so to record the mixer should be again connected to the pc from the input can that happen with an unpowered mixer?
Hi there! could you tell me the cables that i need to use this mixer? it's the first time i'm using it... i really don't know anything about this xp could y help me? thanks!
Just seeing this. Great video. Answered some questions about dj set up for me. Thinking about getting into djing. This really helped me out, and confirmed what I asked about on amazon and got answered about using channels 3/4 or 5/6 for my laptop. Was also curious about the speaker inputs, but I see where they go now. Thanks.
does the Behringer 302USB have phantom power? Im going to be getting a MXL 3000 microphone, and I want a preamp for about 60 bucks or under with at least 1 XLR in, and a USB interface to my computer...It needs phantom power, any recommendations?
I just bought one of these from my bass player you can use this with p.a. speakers for 2 mics right? He told me you needed a preamp but the site says the 2 xlr inputs are preamped, and phantom powered obviously.
Hey bud i enjoyed watching this mixer overview..i just got my mixer a couple days ago..one favor, can you send me a list of the attachments that you use to connect th3 various cables to the 1/4 in inputs
So the main outs are going to your speakers..... Do you connect it directly as 1/4's or did you bought a XLR to 1/4 so that you can plug it to the speakers?
I know this video was posted nearly a year ago, but I'm using this mixer and I'm looking to do multi track recording. Do you know if I purchased the external firewire interface will this allow multitrack recording for garageband?
One question, I am completly lost with this kind of stuff. Let say I want to live stream games, can I use this to adjust the volume of the game for the live stream? or, can use that equipment for that kind of purpose?
Hi , I am India and want to get this product shipped but the voltage issue is giving me some concerns here the supply is 220 Volts . but in US its 110 Volts . Could you please help and suggest ?
Sorry but DI boxes do not amplify anything , they are used to match impedance from instrument to the PA system and provide means to connect an instrument correctly to a PA system.
Would Your recommend this mixer and is it ok if im using it a dj gigs Just to mix my controller and ipod etc. Because the kontrol s2 has no aux in. Will it work ok doing dj work or is this really only a stage mixer?
i have the usb version of this mixer , but when i press the button to rout the sound to controlroom and headphones sound is still coming from the main output :/
If i connect xenyx to a sound card ( audient id 4) and connect active monitors to it is it going to change the quality of the sound. Speakers are now connected directly to sound card..
Hi, which one will be the best way to plug this into a DSLR? I mean Taking the audio from the main output, the headphones output, the tape output or the USB output? Thanks.
Do you know the maximum channels with which you can record when using an interface? I know the interface has a limited number but I mean can you use more than just the 2 xlr inputs since there are 4 usable 1/4" inputs for instruments etc.
so i'm not familiar with this yet, but would you happen to know how you would hook up some monitors and guitars up this mixer, i'm jsut curious cuz i'm in a band and we are having trouble with hearing eachother at our live shows, would this fix that? and could i possibly have this hooked up so i could hear the guitars and vocals together, in a show?
Hi, Joe really helpful cleared up some questions. definitely subscribed :-) One additional where would you go next, ie do you have a recommendation for an upgrade which would have a few extra options without breaking the back? I have a couple of these a spare/backups but they're so easy I'm using them more than main mixers :-)
My drummer needs to listen a click track and a keyboard sequence on his phones, I already have the track panneled left and right with the click and sequence, how do I resolve the other stuff?? I can make he listens the click and the sequence goes to my P.A. but he wants the click AND the sequence on his phones, and that the sequence goes to the P.A. so the band can hear it too, any ideas? send me a PM.
Great video! One question bro! Im also a DJ, and I have a ddjt-1 pioneer..so I have to connect my controler to channel "3/4" (L/R), and my wireless mic to channel "2", and my wired mic to channel "1", then from my main out "L/R" two cables to my powered speakers! right? One last thing, why you have your laptop connected to channel 5/6 ? as a back up? Thanks againa and good luck!
This is not an audio interface. This is just a mixer. You would need to take the output from this mixer into an audio interface either a specific USB sound card or your computers 3.5mm jack
I think me and you got it confused with a later model, I don't think that this is made anymore, the latest one on the behringer site does have usb but this one doesn't
This might be a silly question, but I'll ask anyway. I just bought this mixer and I have a audio technica usb mic. Is there any way of using these two together? Will they in any way compliment each other?
Does anyone else have an issue with the panning knob for the XLR mics? Using the panning only changes the volume (no volume when turned full to the left, and full volume when turned fully to the right), rather changing where the input goes into the stereo output.
yes i also have this problem, i think its something to do with the actual product as because this is a really rushed piece of kit there are alot of these that either just dont work have strange noise problems and some of the knobs dont do what they are meant to do, i personally have an issue with the panning knob and also strange noise artifacts..
@@efensiemusic The signal going to the main outs actually work as expected from the panning knob, as I have a cable that coverts two TS 1/4" connectors to one stereo TRS 1/8" plug and I tested the AC voltage levels using a multimeter. I think the problem for me is that I am using the microphone jack on my computer, and those jacks are usually mono, so wierd things happen. So the good news is it's probably not the mixer. What I'll try and do is buy an external USB sound card with a line in stereo jack. Then the stereo should work properly.
@@efensiemusic As for noise maybe it's the room ambience, because I have a condenser microphone and even though it is cardiod, it picks up my laptop fan noise and especially the ventilation return when the AC is on. It could also be electrical noise getting into the mixer or the lines. I'm thinking of dampening the noise from the vent with car noise dampening stick ons and installing a drywall, which is missing on the side of the room with the return. Other than that, a noise gate pedal or a multi-effects pedal with a noise gate might be good for live noise reduction, albeit it only gates out the background noise when you are not talking but allows it through when you talk and turn on the gate. Or I can just turn off the AC whenever recording. Or, if I am recording, I can do a noise reduction audio effect on the recorded file, and that should be good enough. Maybe follow that up with a software noise gate if there's still noise. Adobe Premiere Pro has an adaptive noise filter which by itself does a very good job actually for background noises that are not too loud or intermittent.
what does a mixer do? does this override my audio interface? is there a way I can connect a 2 channel preamp, audio interface and mixer without any hardship?? cheers!
I was looking into getting this, but I have a couple of questions. Do I need an interface for this? I'm on a really tight budget and this is cheap as hell so I was wondering if this is able to be plugged into my PC for recording? I also have a quarter inch to USB, is that any help?
For me one of the biggest issues on the cheap Xenyx mixers are the volume pots. They start making crackling noises real fast and the balance tends to shift around slightly when changing the volume. I would recommend geting a slightly higher quality mixer, maybe with faders instead of knobs.
how can you guess which one is "a slightly higher quality mixer" that is not making crackling noises after a while?
yeaa struggling with it rn, weirdly i didnt had that issue before but i got a new pc and now everything is messed up somehow .-:
I have had a lot of experience with the Allen and Heath mixers and you cant go wrong with them especially the Zed series. I have a Zed 28 and it works like a charm... The only down side is the cost. :)

Thanks for this! I just bought it and your video is 100x better than the instructions!
0:42 - Did you say instructions, or destructions?
Thanks for the time in doing this review very informative and most helpful for setting up the different wires thanks

I own a 802USB with Mac mini and JBL 104 monitors and c1 Condenser mic..Works well...Thanks learn a lot
nice thanks for the review i bought one of craigslist for 20 dollars with no power ac it was a pain in the ass to get a new one i took one month because they wernt in stock anywhere and i found one on amazon and bought it it looks like a good mixer
I wanted to use this to record my lofi/garage/surf rock band.
I need to hear wtf lofi garbage surf rock sounds like lmao

Thanks for your review, it has helped a noob understand this piece of kit a bit better. Seems like a nifty piece of kit for the price.
I have this mixer and a mac book pro, but i can't find a driver. The downloads on the Behringer website aren't clear and I can't get any of them to work. Any thoughts?
Channel 1 and 2 I can connect the corded microphone but where do I connect the mixer to the numark? Please help

Do we have that eco voice effect on the mic?Or we need another device to have it?

***** if you use the phones jack via 3.5 to 1/4 inch adaptor you can monitor your cd playback with the phone/ctrl room volume button.
yes, you can turn the volume up and down i use this to run my radio station with this it's down to how you set the leads up for it.

The 802 are know for breaking down after about a year. I would suggest the 1002. It costs roughly the same and has better components.

Can you link where you got all the jack to xlrs please
Are you able to use it with a dj intro such as serato or virtual dj ???
Also I have one more question what is a good but cheap CD player I could hook up to the mixer

Yes please .....Me too!!! Thank you.
sweet just the video i needed, to see i'm gonna give that a shot and see how my setup turns out
it is necessary to connect to power source or through the usb to computer it can work
as i dj i dont have something to connect mixer to pc.. so can i use that thing with my vmx300 mixer and use it with virtual dj program ?
Can the channel 3/4 and channel 5/6 be used for instruments?
Haha.. So the wobble is built in? Mine does that too!
So the main outs are going to your speakers.....
Do you connect it directly as 1/4's or did you bought a XLR to 1/4 so that you can plug it to the speakers?
@josh3096 im pretty sure the one at school was a europower.
How did you connect it to your laptop, with a audio interface?

hi there plzz i need you to answer this question is this behringer powered or not ????

Hey, how do i connect this with a Mixtrack pro with 2x Behringer B215d powered speakers running virtual dj or serato intro???? PLEASE REPLY BRO!
would it be possible to connect this mixer to an active speaker like "the box MA8" one?
Would Your recommend this mixer and is it ok if im using it a dj gigs
Just to mix my controller and ipod etc. Because the kontrol s2 has no aux in.
Will it work ok doing dj work or is this really only a stage mixer?
mine does. is this not the Behringer Xenyx Q802 USB?
i have the usb version of this mixer , but when i press the button to rout the sound to controlroom and headphones sound is still coming from the main output :/
I was thinking of buying this, but how do I get sound from the interface into my macbook pro?
you dont need a amp for the computer? can i just connect it directly speaker to mixer to computer without amp it wont burn it? thanks.
If i connect xenyx to a sound card ( audient id 4) and connect active monitors to it is it going to change the quality of the sound. Speakers are now connected directly to sound card..
Hi, which one will be the best way to plug this into a DSLR? I mean
Taking the audio from the main output, the headphones output, the tape output or the USB output? Thanks.
You must be LOADED !
wish i had some equiptment !
I just need it for my XLR mic, im new to all this...so would I get power to it?
Has a good preamp?
Does the gain knob affect the jack line in under the xlr for the mics, or will I have to buy an adapter to use the gain knob with my jack mic?
I think I'll just buy the mixer and no xlr adapters, cause even if the gain doesn't affect the jack in, I'll still have the level knob.
Wondering if this will work ok with MS16 personal monitors?
What jack did you use to get a head phone port?
would this be good to hear your self through your mic? as you talk
the problem is: i want to hear myself if i put in the headphones, where should i put them in to hear myself from the mic i plugged in
i figured it out
ItzShiacツ how
yeah you can, that's how I ran my system at first. I ran my mixtrack into it, plus 2 mics and my ipod for backup.
Do you know the maximum channels with which you can record when using an interface? I know the interface has a limited number but I mean can you use more than just the 2 xlr inputs since there are 4 usable 1/4" inputs for instruments etc.
thank you very much Joe 😉👍🏾
i got m-audio interface, can i hook this up wid interface nd use it wid pro tools??
I got that exactly same mixer, it work great!
so i'm not familiar with this yet, but would you happen to know how you would hook up some monitors and guitars up this mixer, i'm jsut curious cuz i'm in a band and we are having trouble with hearing eachother at our live shows, would this fix that? and could i possibly have this hooked up so i could hear the guitars and vocals together, in a show?
What program are you using with the Soundcard
Hi, Joe really helpful cleared up some questions. definitely subscribed :-) One additional where would you go next, ie do you have a recommendation for an upgrade which would have a few extra options without breaking the back? can we use dis as a audio interface??
