Seeing Crow live was unbelieveable. The most high energy rock band I've ever seen. I've seen more bands than I can remember, and many of the biggies and Crow could go toe to toe with 99% of them.
The only band they remind me of is Cactus (with the great rhythm section of Bogart and Appice), who--however--came later. Same bass-heavy-blues-rock and whiskey vocals. A best unknown band. Fantastic!
I couldn't agree more. Good thing is I was there and remember. Sad thing is, the majority of younger people today have never heard what I've heard in terms of quality sound/music, and now resort to RUclips or MP3 files for their musical pleasure...shuffle one...shuffle two...shuffle three, etc. Better than nothin' I suppose, but it has to make "today's crap" sound even worse than it already is, Lol.
Thank you for this fine discovery. I had never heard this band before. Love to all these people sharing the same taste. I am not alone on this planet called "earth".
This is no joke..., I'm from outside Rochester, NY. I don't remember where I first heard 'Cottage Cheese' but the song has been on my memory for probably 35 or more years....! I couldn't remember the name of the song or even the BAND. A very dear friend of mine remembered the BAND (Crow) and I just found this POST. Thank you so much....! The echo / dueling Hammond and guitar then the bass has been so 'there' in my mind that I could sing it after almost 40 years but just could not remember the Band or the Tune! very grateful!
came back from nam and heard a new kind of music simply called "heavy" then heard them at a concert in Anoka, mn and they have been a favorite since. have heard them many times in our local music scenes.
Awesome, thank you for posting ! My first concert at ,age 14, was in 1970. Crow opened for Blues Image, and while I like Blues Image, Crow blew them away ! Peace.
drprogensteinphp, just looked on the net and checked out these obscure bands, what great memories, there is only 1 song i can remember can't believe it's been over 45 years my god and the one track that kills is slow down, a big thanks
I believe i got to see them live at the Surf Ballroom opening for Blue Oyster Cult ... never knew who they were really but they were definitely amazing.
A buddy of mine owned this album where we were kids. I'd insist on him playing CROW BY CROW on his parent's console. It was so gritty, or, uncomplicated. I guess that "intercommunication" was special...but man, that singer needs a shampoo this week!
really like the sound you got on the first song as production was way better on crow by crow album compared with evil woman lp, but also your equipment your using is top notch using vinyl, good job,.. and thanks
Doug Ingle era en tecladista y cantante de Iron Butterfly (quienes tocan In A Gadda Da Vida), Dave Wagner fue el vocalista de Crow. Cheers desde Canada saludos!
@Aquadubious Yep...great Minnesota band. I lived in Winnipeg for many years, and saw them live a couple times just over the boarder. Oh...In order for me or anyone else here to know who you're directing your comments at, you might want to click on the "Reply" tab to the right of their comment. @quinn407 As of 1 year ago, their actual albums weren't available on CD. That's the last time that I did thorough search. There was a Crow CD compilation released back in he early 90s titled "Evil Woman - The Best of Crow". You might find it on eBay or Amazon, as it was discontinued a few years back. In 2007 there was another compilation titled "Classics 1969-1972"...not sure if it's still in print. The albums are long overdo for a CD re-issue. Sorry I can't help you more...take care :)
@andyray9 Must have been a dynomite show! I also saw Crow around '68 in Fargo...we drove down from Winnipeg Canada where I lived at the time. I think they were billed with a band called "The Pawnbrokers"...but that may have been a different night...things are a tad hazy from that period :)
@buggadugg ?...Lol...tree men dust? Crow's are not humanoid, they're large birds that form the genus Corvus in the family Corvidae. So perhaps "tangled passerine dust" is a more appropriate label :)
Huh?? This song was written by 'Crow' and released before Black Sabbath's cover of the song. That said, sounding like Black Sabbath wasn't their goal, not to mention impossible, Lol.

It's wonderful to see the hood playing the drums to the type of music he loves so very much! Way to go Norm!

No doubt about today's crap. WTF! Anyone can TALK to background music. Where's the thought that goes into actual music anymore...?
Only the bass sounds Geeze Butler.
