Retail business success story: 8 years of making a home for PH makers and artists | Common Room PH

You can say it’s a retail business success story but beyond that it has always been about making a home for our fellow Philippine makers and artists. Our little arts and crafts store started eight years ago because we wanted to have our own space for our plushie toys, Popjunklove. But we thought, why don’t we share the space with people from our community? Small entrepreneurs like us, artists, and home-based makers who were making their own home scents, enamel pins, beaded and crocheted accessories, upcycled wooden crafts and other handmade items. It started with 33, we now have almost 200 makers and artists. We’ve shared some of their stories here.
Common Room PH is a collaborative space for artists and makers in the Philippines. Our physical stores provide a venue for local creatives to showcase their handcrafted products and original artworks. Our web store and digital platform on RUclips enable our community to reach more, not only through their products, but also through their stories. Our hope is that whether online or offline, these venues provide a home and a safe space for creatives to express themselves, support each other, grow together, and empower others to make with their hands.
