Thank you you're a lifesaver! I took apart the dragon assembly of a completely different reel, Daiwa, and just looked at your guidance on which way to face the assembly.
Hello, 2nd Chance Tackle i know you did a Abu Garcia 5600 BCX video of it but I can’t see that parts really well on the video and i really want you to do another video of taking all the parts and putting it back together to see if i’m putting them right or not and i’ve been missing some parts on it i really want another video of a Abu Garcia 5600 BCX please!
thanks for doing the squall. great video. I need to replace the drag washers in one of my squalls. I did not have the courage to pull apart the drag side. Still not sure, I will do it!...Maybe I'll give it a try.
Great tutorial. I have one of these reels and have an issue with the trow lever not releasing after a few years of no use. I was a little hesitant to pull it apart to service and repair, but this is pretty strait forward from what you showed here, thanks!
Excellent detail...curious if you would know why my squall 15 spool tension does not tighten enough to stop/slow spool from spinning to set reel as described in manual. It does tighten enough to prevent spool from moving side to side but not enough to slow/stop spool.
That bearing cap is not intended to stop the spool. The proper adjustment is to have a slight amount of play in the side to side movement. It should not be locked down. - Dennis
My spool tension cap fell off and by looking at the diagram it appears a few other things did too..I could of sworn i only dropped the cap overboard into. It appears from the diagram that the inner spool tension ratchet (26f) is still in there. I was wondering if at some point you could make a video or a slide show of pictures of disassembling of the spool tensioner cap/ mechanism. Thank you.
Hi Dennis. Still keeping up with all your videos. And with your suggestions I tackled a long awaited and needed cleaning and repair of my ultralight Abu spinning reel. Thank you so much. I do have a request for a video if you would consider. I'm looking into purchasing a couple conventional reels for kayak and boat use but not really sure whether to buy a star drag, level wind, or lever drag reel. Could you possibly do a small video on explaining the differences as well as the pros and cons. It would be much be appreciated. Thank you.
Hi Dennis I took my squall 15sdcs apart to clean out sand and salt putting it back together everything works well now the drag is not holding any weight any advice on how to fix drag
I think you need to recheck the drag stack to make sure the earned washer stayed in the gear slot when you when to reinstall the bridge. They are pretty slippery when turned sideways and have a habit of coming out of the slot. That would be my first guess - Dennis
Dennis! Got a box of ‘broken’ reels from my local marine store. This penn reel was in the box and the spool gear is rusted on to the spool. Any tips for getting it off?
Yes - the answer is usually penetrating oil and heat. You can watch this video, but you will need to modify your approach due to the side plate on the Squall. If you do this with heat, just heat the tip of the gear and keep the heat away from the side plate as it is graphite and will melt with direct heat. You can watch the video here ruclips.net/video/RiqZ_eazyqM/видео.html
They are similar and the process would be close enough to use this to service your Rival. I also did one on the Defiance which is also similar. You can view that here ruclips.net/video/D1lGbKpOhow/видео.html thanks for asking - Dennis
I've found that the Warfare and the Defiance as well as the Rival have not stood the test of time. They were at a good price point, but they were not a lasting value. I think Penn recognized the design problems and moved on by introducing other reels. Thanks for watching - Dennis
Thanks for the note. I try to add commentary to the steps as many folks need that. I am sure you can find someone else to just give you the steps in your search of RUclips. Best wishes - Dennis

Hopefully we can use the beaches this year my reels are ready , thanks to your videos....
God willing. We will get through this. Stay well - Dennis
Thank you Dennis for another excellent educational and entertaining video.
You are welcome. Thanks for watching - Dennis

I guess it is quite off topic but do anybody know a good site to watch new series online?

@Armando Ibrahim Yup, I've been watching on flixzone for months myself :)

I don't have that reel in my shop right now. I will add your request to my list and do a video the next time I get one in - Thanks for asking - Dennis

2nd Chance Tackle Great! I look forward to it.
Great job Dennis. Do ou have any pros and cons of the Fathom 15 Vs the Squall15?
I'll see if I can put that one together. I don't have a Fathom in the shop at the moment. Dennis

Is this a good for the penn rival

@@2ndChanceTackle thank you
My spool tension system is not working
Hmmmm - it is only a spring and bearing cap. Is the cap cross-threaded? Try removing it and re set it square
Mine doesn't either.
Great mag reel until I got my hands on Fathom 2 Casting special
The Fathom is a nice reel. Best wishes for great fishing with it - Dennis
Can you fix mine
I can. Please send an email to me at 2ndchancetackle@gmail.com for repair information - Thanks for asking - Dennis
Wow i didnt even recognize your voice
I've been dealing with a cold!
Its a shame if they stopped making the warfare. That was a great reel for the price

You obviously haven’t worked on your own reels, grow up and show respect.
