Revelation 2:12 addresses the angel of the church in Pergamos, stating that Jesus has a sharp sword with two edges. Jesus warns them to repent or face immediate battle with the sword of his mouth. He also promises to give hidden manna and a white stone to those who overcome the church.
The church of Pergamos was plagued by corrupt minds who corrupted the faith and manners of the church. Christ, who holds the title of "He that hath the sharp sword with two edges," is determined to fight against them using his Word. The Word of God is a powerful weapon, capable of slaying both sin and sinners. It can divide between the soul and the spirit, making a wound and opening it for healing. The sword has two sides, allowing for both right and wrong.
