    Hey Arjun, thanks for the heads up and following through on what you said. This is an awesome, thorough video mate and I'm really glad I asked you the question. Since we were last in contact I've started with VG (don't think you'd approve of my LS choice lol) and it's really nice to know that you have been looking into this topic in the meantime. You've saved me a load of time that and potentially, money too. It's mind blowing to think how many people we all know who are affected by this topic and that small % change makes the world of difference over time. It also leads on to the topic of drawdowns and what actually happens at retirement and the choices you face. I'll look through my paperwork later today and see what, if any, info is available on the fund. It would be great to talk further off chat if you're interested let me know the best way. I look forward to the next video - Well Done! :) J

      Thanks for watching and I’m glad it helped you out! It was such an interesting topic mate!
      It also made me rebalance all of my investments in my pension as well!

      @@TheNimbleNomad No problem Arjun I'm glad it helped you. So you don't work in finance? When you say you managed to rebalance your work pension, I take it you kept it where it was to keep getting employer contributions but spoke to the holding company to make the changes? I think my current fund description is worse than yours "The aim of the fund is to grow your money faster than the cost of living in the long term and give you a steady return on your money." Time to look at the breakdown!

      I work in finance.
      I rebalanced some of my funds to the asset allocations I have mentioned in the video.
      Last year my company changed my fund allocations in feb and then the market crash happened; I had one fund which I didn’t personally like but kept it as selling didn’t make sense as I would realise losses.
      I have rebalanced that one fund (small proportion) along with a cash position I had held in the event of second crash due to COVID in the run up to prepping this video but I knew what my base allocations would be which is what I described.
      I think it’s important to consider underlying asset investments and always look at the entirety of your portfolio which includes ISAs.
      I’ll do a video on my financial plan in the coming weeks. Thanks again for watching and supporting the channel!

    very timely especially for people in their mid 30's like me hahhaha should really start as early as possible. thanks for this.

      Yes it’s important to start early but the key thing is to start. Doesn’t matter if you are in your mid-30s the key is to make sure you start and ensure you maximize the benefits of a pension! Thanks for watching

      Thanks so much for both watching and taking action! Over the long term Equities have certainly outperformed bonds.

    Is it worth investing in pension or investing in growth stocks

    • @TheNimbleNomad
      @TheNimbleNomad  2 года назад

      I think they are two very different things.. one is an investment vehicle and the other is the style of investing.
      IMO everyone who has a workplace pension and can afford to should be investing in a workplace pension.
      As far as growth stocks are concerned - I think valuation and fundamentals are an important consideration. As Buffett says.. Stocks are a voting machine in the short run and a weighing machine in the long run.

      Asia / Africa.. China, etc.
      Usually the ETFs say what the fund invests in if you look at the KIID.. Key Investor Information Document

    Is this also applicable for NHS pension fund? Can we actually change where we want it invested? Thanks!

    • @TheNimbleNomad
      @TheNimbleNomad  3 года назад +1

      I’m not sure about the NHS pension - you may want to first check if you have the DC or DB scheme and depending on that you could review / check it. Worth speaking to HR and accessing your online account

    • @rhodanoriega4157
      @rhodanoriega4157 3 года назад

      It is a DB type of pension. I will soon be there to join NHS hence my interest in this. I hope you can also make a video about it as many healthcare workers are quite clueless on the details of this opportunity for financial growth. More power to your channel!

    • @TheNimbleNomad
      @TheNimbleNomad  3 года назад +1

      DB (Defined Benefits) means you will get a final salary contribution. It’s unlikely you will be able to amend the funds but worth checking once you have joined

      Thanks a lot! Will definitely check once I’m there.
