- A very nice and clean original 1964 Fender Vibroverb.
Played with my '64 Anniversary Fender Custom Shop Stratocaster loaded with MF 60's pickups.
No pedals or effects. Straight plugged into the amp and filmed with an iPhone (sorry ;-) ).
It has a JBL D130F speaker in it and original transformers and caps.
This has to be the closest ive heard to stevie's tone that isn't actually stevie's setup, also amazing playing btw🤘
Thank you very much. It‘s not actually SRV‘s setup but a Blackface Vibroverb with the JBL he used to play. It‘s a great amp
It's very very close. You should also check out Matthew Scott here on youtube. He gets some very convincing Stevie tones with a 59 strat and a Super Reverb.
ruclips.net/video/QR7Df8pQip4/видео.html I think this would be pretty close too
@@fabianbrugger86 Is this amp for sale? What is MF pickups?
I feel like rosewood fretboards don't show wear and tear like maple ones do, because if SRV's guitar was a maple fretboard, it would look way different. Great playing btw :)
They show wear by getting naturally scalloped and a sheen seems to form on top of the board from sweat etc. On the veneer boards it wears it down so the fretboard can become paper thin on top of the maple but like ypu say it isn't visible straight away because it's a dark wood.
I find best way is to play the whole fretboard. Makes it last longer....ok, I will see myself out now
SRV didn’t use rosewood. He used Pau ferro.
@@TonySop huh ? he used a 59/63 strat which had a brazilian rosewood fretboard. the reason fender uses pau ferro now (they switched in 1998) is that rosewood trees are under threat so you can't cut them anymore. pau ferro is a replacement for rosewood
@@aayandadan9340 you’re right some of his later guitars did use pau ferro tho. Not due to endangerment of rosewood but because it was a new wood being used. I did a research project on it in 7th grade. maybe i’m just going crazy
great tone! i sold my solid state amp to buy a blues junior tube amp. it got me hooked up, the true sound of strats come out when plugged in a tube amp.
You’ve got a nice tone happening there man.
I enjoyed listening to your playing through that cool amp.
insane articulation and dynamics!
your dynamic range is phenomenal!
You totally nailed it...great sound and playing.
been playing humbuckers for so long i forgot how good that snap from single coils sound
That tone is absolutely nuts
SRV tone! Amazing sound and playing.
Thank you
Nice playing & tone, man. Your swing is really good … glad I clicked. I’m window-shopping for Amps & had never heard one of these. It sounds amazing.
Thank you!!! Glad you clicked it, too. The Vibroverb is very rare and hard to find. Especially in this condition. All caps and resistors are still original. The output transformer has been changed but I got the original one. Also I got the original CTS 15" speaker which I replaced with the JBL D130F. You'll find some Vibroverbs for a lot of money which aren't in a good or collectible condition. I've read Fender only produced about 1500 Vibroverbs in 1964.
I was luck to chose between two old Vibros when I bought it...
@@fabianbrugger86 Hang on to it!
Unbelievable, well done. Good amp too.
Thank you
Very nice playing..
This (and you) is AMAZING
I love SRV
Great playing
Fantastic tone and great playing
Dittos. Wonder how these amps differ electronically from a Super Reverb ...
Incredible tone!
Thanks
Great raw tone, very well dialled in 👍🏼
wow this was amazing, awesome playing man, and that tone is crazy
Sounds awesome, but I wish there was some discussion, or at least some video of how the knobs and switches are set.
I can do another shoot and show the settings. ;-)
God bless you mate!
Thank you :-)
very very good dynamics!
Beautiful amp..! No wonder Stevie favoured them..
Someday I want to be able to play SRV's Little Wing so bad
Today however, I play SRV's Little Wing, so bad
It's Hendrix's original thing, SRV just made a cover, that became popular
@@user-rm9kb8kp6byeah that's why I said SRV's Little Wing and not Hendrix's Little Wing

Nice "Gloops"
Well done! Maybe the E string (the sixth) has to be tuned a little bit on! 😉
GTFOH Man! Nevertheless, Incredible!
That's great sound and player.))
sounds better than marshall... Great Video Great content!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks man! I would say it's different than a Marshall. I only own a Tube Amp Doctor JTM45/100 which sounds awesome and just raw power. The Fender ist just sweet but this Vibro is so damn loud! :-)
Great job!
Sounds great!
Thanks
waoh great sound, i like
Such amazing licks
Timing's off tho very often
Sounds great! Congrats. Ever thought of going up a gauge in strings? I think you’d like it, your hand is heavy sort of what SRV was like. When the gauge is small the heavy attack almost knocks it out of tune. Just a general observation I’ve noticed. Great playing and enjoy that beast! Cheers!
Yeah you NEED atleast 11 gauge for that style. Even doing the upstroke on the high e like Stevie does can knock a light set out of tune
Saw that too when playing with thick strings I realize my hands don’t fall off the strings as much and if stays in tune I legit cannot play in 9 gauge strings 😂
@@landenguitar1305 same bro
Just wondering which mark Foley in guitar. Sounds great. Thks
It's hard to believe there is no pedals or effects.. We're all trying catch this tone with a lot of equipments but can't even approach it :D
That‘s exactly was I thought when I first plugged the guitar in the Vibroverb and set volume to 5. there are pedals like the Duellist or Honey Bee Double Trouble trying to simulate this tone but they don‘t get it right. They are too bright and harsh. But the Vibroverb with its JBL doesn‘t sound harsh or too bright.
@@fabianbrugger86 You're lucky to have this setup! We will wait more videos! :)))
@@muziksiyenci tryin‘ to do some more :-)
Is this amp for sale? if not where can I get one?
You should do a cover of Lenny
This is great, I'm not sure why you don't respond to the comments anyways awesome playing
Hey, thanks. I do respond to the comments and answer questions :-)
j adore !! merci pour ce vidéo
Klingt stark! :-)
Danke :-)
Niceee !!!
Just curious, what was the volume set to? How was it so quiet with that Strat so close to the amp? I have a reissue Vibroverb, and I love it, but my Strat is noisy as all hell. lol Great playing by the way!
Hey, thanks. Volume was about 4-5. The amp is really quiet. It was freshly serviced and tubes are like new. The Strat is a Custom shop Strat. I plugged straight into the amp.
Hey, its good tone!! its happy listen everyday!! May I know how many tubes from 7571? and how about power tube? its amazing!!! cheers!
Sheeeeeeeeeesh
That amp sounds incredible. Makes me want to buy one right now. I saw one at a local music shop. No pedals either? Sounds super glassy and exceptional clean. Really Impressed. Do you know what kind of tubes are in it? I know some of the tubes names were different before tubes EL34’s were around. I’m pretty sure 6L6 and 6V6’s go way back so I would assume it has 6L6 tones. Regardless, it sounds super glassy and clean and if there were no pedals used that’s amazing because people are building new pedals everyday to try and achieve that tone.
It’s a 6l6 adjustable bias amp.
Schematic is ab763 vibroverb on made for 2 years in blackface model. There is brownface which is 6g13 I think. Sound totally different.
Thanks. I played without any pedals. This amp has an early breakup. That's why SRV replaced the V1 with a 7571 than a 12AX7 or 7025. It has less gain and the amp stays cleaner longer.
Most of the blackface amps came with 6L6 power tubes. Especially the more powerful amps. Princeton, Deluxe Reverb have 6V6. Tremolux, Super Reverb, Vibroverb, Batsman's, Bandmasters all have 6L6.
The glassy tone comes from the JBL. It's glassy but not shrill or too much. It's just right. I understand why SRV used the Tube Screamer with the Vibro & JBL. If you have a transparent overdrive with the Vibro and it get's a bit harsh and shrill with the overdrive. The TS cuts off the shrillness when playing with more gain and overdrive.
And you are right. Most pedal builders try to achieve this sound and selling it as a SRV-sound-alike-pedal. I tried them all but it has nothing to do with the real deal.
@@fabianbrugger86 do you know if your JBL has been reconed please ?
@@leonardo.rafael The JBL has the original cone. But I killed it last weekend :-( Need a repair. Good thing is, I got a second JBL. And you'll find some good used ones for a reasonable price.
What strings are you using?
I use Pyramid Nickel would stringes 10-52
Damn, I want a blackface circuit with a 15" now
Yes, that‘s a great combination
@@fabianbrugger86 have you tried putting a 5751 tube in as 1st preamp? It's lower gain so you can turn up and push the power tubes in breakup easier - sweeter bigger tone according to some...
@Fabian Brugger what differences have you noticed with the MF 60’s pickups please ? 🙏🏻
What kind of speaker ? Greet sound cheers 🥂
It's a JBL D130F
Nicee
Harika!
cool! is it noiseless pickup?
Hi, thanks. But no the guitar has no noiseless pickups installed. It has got Mark Foley pickups
Good tone bro what setting used in your amp ?
Thank you. I believe volume was on 5. Hi setting on the switch. Bass and Treble around 5. I need to adjust Treble and Bass when changing the volume.
@@fabianbrugger86 thanks bro
@@fabianbrugger86 Was the bright switch on?
Was bright on?
@@shmokeyamomked9431 Hey, sorry for the delay. Yes, the bright switch was on,
Cómo suena eso reyy
Think one of ur strings was untuned a tad bit
Yes, first try of 10-50 but went back to 10-52 after that. I need that bigger low e string ;-)
What overdrive pedal?
It‘s just the amp and the guitar. No pedals
ковер прекрасный
I think Jeff Buckley used the Vibroverb aswell? Could be wrong.
MF '60s Pickups sind mir kein Begriff. Was heißt MF? BTW: Super Amp!
Mark Foley pickups
Is this MIM Stratocaster?
It is a custom shop, dude
Little Wing has to be the new Stairway...
What are mf 60’s pickups? What’s mf?
Mark Foley Pickups
You are very deserving of your gear 😂
Allways the same song, same licks
Because your ears are too dull to hear the difference
