Hey buddy. Just start with a plastic bucket to begin with( i did 5 yrs ago). I m a vegetarian so my compost consists of only veggies and fruits mostly. You do get lot of enzymes now a days in market to buy. I add equal amounts of mud and dryleaves which reduces smell to a lot of extent. Earthen pots are the best. Take large earthern container, make a few drainage and aeration holes in it. Now lay a layer of about 2 inche of dry waste like leaves, clippings of plants and some paper or cardboard. Start adding your green waste to the container now and once it is about 5-6inches, mix it well, ad a thin layer of manure and soil and again start adding green waste till the container is full and at last, add a layer of dried leaves, compost and soil and cover the container and leave it aside for 35-40 days in a warm place. Keep mixing the compost every 8-10 days and maintain moisture in it but do not make it soggy. Avoid adding citrus, chillies, bones, dairy, cooked vegetables into it. I've been doing it and every time I am able to improve on the quality of my compost and it gives immense pleasure to know I am not generating waste but adding more value to it instead. I've even done composting in wheat floor plastic bags of 10 kgs. You can even use it as grow bags. Was supposed to tell only about composting though😂

There are some really good thing being done ...and things are changing. But Indians need to change their perspective and attitudes toward water, climate and waste. Only the youoger generations seem to want to change things !
There has to be separate bins for food waste, recyclable waste ( glass, paper, tin, metal, plastic bottles ), other which does not fall in these. A lot of waste can be reduced at source so the landfill is minimised. A lot of water can be recycled from each household. Reducing the size of the piping, pumps, and other materials, saving huge costs as well trouble. The kitchen waste can be treated to produce gas ( In villages the Gobar Gas scheme was launched many years back. the same can be implemented for each society ). Sometime back I had seen a video of Indore city. How they transformed the huge waste pile in just six months and reduced the landfill considerably. Such projects must be implemented simulteneouly all over India. The river pollution must be stopped.
Profit is - 1. you are not sending waste to landfill and keeping your air, water and soil clean. 2. You get compost for your soil. 3. You save water due to compost use 4. You don't need to use pesticides after you use compost and save money. 5. Output in horticulture and kitchen garden increases multifold 6. You life becomes healthier and happier - Is this enough profit :)
It is a good initiative, however requires sorting of garbage, rotating machines 5 times a day, then putting some spray etc etc. I saw a youtube video some time back wherein a person just collected the wet waste in a big container (20-30 kgs capacity)with hole at the bottom. The wet waste decomposed so fast that even after throwing the wet waste in the bin daily, it will not fill for years. From the hole at the bottom, it will release liquid which gets generated by the decomposition. This is high in nutrients and very good for plants.
It's shocking how one economy sees another economy/nation as a option to dump its waste produced by their society. And also criminal for a government to allow their land to be used as a dumping ground in exchange of money.
I live in the lap of mountains........ sometimes I feel pity for u people surrounded by pollution, crime, hustle etc......life is not worthy of livin in this hustle .......
Actually the segregation part is important.. As for the compost you can just dug a pit and throw the green waste there.. It will de compost and create a rich manure without any kind of processing.... As this kind of in house processing is a bit costly to maintain

Umm no you are way off the point. The problems of organic waste and packaging waste are not equitable. Composting doesn't release CO2 anywhere comparable to burning. With the breakdown process you are creating fertiliser that's organic and healthy and completed the cycle. Rotting in landfills creates toxic sludge that like animals and humans alike.
its not co2. solid carbon is what trees are. composting just give access to this carbon way faster and the plants act as carbon banks instead of aerial dumping. Now people may use this carbon at any point in time like harvesting food or cutting trees for paper or other stuff.
@@suyashgupta87 decomposition is a chemical process in which C02 is released. It literally produces the same amount of CO2 as if you were to burn it. Check your science bro. Plants mainly use Nitrates, Phosphates, and Potassium as their main nutrients.
