Imelda Marcos has flown to the United States after the Philippine Supreme Court overturned a travel ban imposed on her.
The former Philippine first lady was allowed her to leave despite a corruption conviction, for treatment of an eye ailment.
It was the first time the once jet-setting widow of the late strongman Ferdinand Marcos has been permitted to leave on a foreign trip since a court convicted her in 1993 and sentenced her to up to 24 years in jail.
Arriving in the U-S following her first international flight in four years -- Imelda Marcos.
Marcos, now a Congresswoman, arrived in Los Angeles after a decision by the Philippine Supreme Court last week overturning her corruption conviction.

"Well, finally at last this is really a welcome relief after a very stressful more that ten years in the hope that I could get the medical help to stop a problem, an eye problem, a deterioration .. I am very glad to be back."

She was convicted in 1993 and was sentenced to 24 years in jail but is free on bail, pending an appeal of the verdict.
Marcos requested permission to travel to the U-S to consult doctors for her glaucoma.
She may need operations on both of her eyes, but hopes to return to Manila in time to spend Christmas with her family.
Aside from her eye condition, Mrs. Marcos has diabetes and hypertension, which could aggravate her eye problem.
She was briefly hospitalized last month for high blood pressure.

In Manila on Wednesday her mood was hopeful as she looked ahead to her travels.

"I'm very, very happy that finally this has happened. This is a break from all this apprehension and anxiety. And I do hope that we will be able to stop the deterioration of my eyesight."

Hours before she left Manila, she distributed hundreds of sacks of rice to employees at the Philippine House of Representatives.
She has been distributing rice every Christmas season since she was elected from her home province of Leyte in 1995.
Members of the House employees' choir sang Christmas carols as a way of thanking Mrs. Marcos.
The Marcoses fled the Philippines during a popular revolt in 1986 and went to Hawaii, where Marcos died in 1989.
The government has accused them of stealing billions of dollars during Marcos' 20 years in power.
Mrs. Marcos was permitted to return to Manila in 1991.

HOUSING, ROADS AND BRIDGES, THOUSANDS OF COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES WERE BUILT THROUGHOUT THE PHILS, MILITARY DEVELOPED MISSILES AND WEAPONS. NO NATION IN ASIA WERE ABLE TO BULLY THE PHILS. PHIL PRODUCTS WERE EXPORTED. THOSE WERE THE DAYS WERE FILIPINOS WERE PROUD. PHILS WAS IN COMPARISON TO JAPAN. WHEN THEY LEFT PHILS BECAME ALMOST THE SAME AS LAOS, MIYANMAR AND CAMBODIA.
