I always remember that in this part of the season sam is still seeing hallucifer and it would have been interesting/horrifying to see what would have happened during this time, especially since sam is tied up and wouldn't have been able to use his hand scar to banish lucifer away

It's horrible. Sam indeed should have seen Lucifer and lose his mind. Plus he was trapped here and it could remind him being trapped in the cage. This scene was a big trigger for him

@@marylong4678 yeah. In an earlier episode Becky is writing "erotic" fanfic involving Wincest so I think it is a bit of a stab at that. I find the concept of Fanfic a little ethically problematic. When you think about the creepy stuff that was written about Emma Watson it makes you wonder if there's a bit of a double standard? The characters in Supernatural are fictitious but they never existed prior to the TV series. There was no previous comics or books so their only representation is through the bodies of the actors playing them. Nobody but Eric would know what Sam, Dean and Castiel etc looked like prior to being played by the actors. So why are the Supernatural guys supposed to just "man up" about it and take it on the chin when people write weird creepy stuff involving their bodies? Just something that has been nagging at me recently and I feel is slightly unethical.

Exactly. If she had gone ahead and had done that it would have been rape. Sam was drugged meaning he wasn't giving his consent. That's rape and it's not funny. I just felt it sent out a really bad message. They took a somewhat likable character like Becky and turned her into a sexual offender. Not to mention it was more then hinted Lucifer raped Sam in the cage. It was just really bad taste all the way around. I love SPN. It's my favorite show but this episode was just wrong.
Sam is in a coercive controlling relationship with Dean which is the main point. The whole show is incredibly dark. Dean hijacked Sam's life and career and spent the whole time manipulating him into staying on the road with him. There's Gaslighting and the whole shebang. Its cringey to watch but totally fascinating in that you rarely see it outside of a romantic relationship. Also that the perp in this case is likeable, charming, vulnerable at times and funny is really realistic.
Why are you looking so deep into this episode? Serious question.
I think the reason Guy told her it only works if he loves her deep down is because otherwise she might not do that to Sam. Remember she thinks shes truly in love with him.

Dean is upset and the fandom loses it and can't wait to save him. Sam gets drugged, undressed, tried up, held captive and violated and the fandom thinks it is hilarious. If someone had don't that to Charlie would it still be funny. It was badly done. Becky character was gross and they brought her back and we are supposed to fine her funny. It is sick.

I used to like Becky, kinda, but after this episode I really hated her.
Imagine the kind of Hell flashbacks Sam must have had when he woke up tied to that bed (he looks terrified in the beginning.) And the first time, when he snapped out of it earlier in the episode, not knowing where he was, he probably thought Lucifer had tricked him somewhere again. I mean, Becky fucking //knocked him out cold// with a waffle iron because he wanted to call his damn brother. That's abuse, not love.

I think people are forgetting the bit where Becky was tricked by a demon who convinced her that if Sam did love her, the potion would activate his feelings. She didn't go in with the intention of raping or anything horrible. She said they didn't consummate their marriage because love takes time, she just assumed that Sam would grow to love her eventually. She's clearly emotionally unstable and made terrible decisions but she isn't a real villain. All my Harry Potter fans will remember Voldemort's mother Merope who did the same thing to Tom Riddle Sr to escape her awful life, Becky is the SPN equivalent of her.
I'm a Potterhead and I feel sorry for Merope, yeah she had a terrible life but for me Becky ISN'T the Merope of Supernatural because she does something that Merope don't do. Merope try to check if it was the potion that made him love her and let him go when she realised it wasn't ( It was 3 years at least after she drugged him for the first time but at least she let him go ), Becky doesn't do that when the potion wear out Sam is tied to a bed without his pants clearly telling her that he DOESN'T love her and she still goes the Demon to ask some more.
