    My man I’ve been looking at a different kind of smoker for a while now. Started looking at gravity smokers this week and stumbled on this video that was posted 2 hours ago! I NEED to know how those ribs turned out ASAP! Currently on a Kamado style smoker that I love….but looking for something a little easier to manage while I’m working. Looking forward to the next video!

    Got a Camp Chef 36" Woodwind wifi pellet smoker, a Masterbuilt 1050 and an XL Big Green Egg. All do different things well. For pure speed of starting time and ready to cook the pellet grill is best, the gravity fed is second and BGE is 3rd. For best smoke flavor taste it's the BGE in 1st, the gravity feed 2nd and pellet 3rd. Did add a smoke tube to increase the smoke flavor to the pellet grill and has helped a lot. Now I may need a stick burner....just because.

      Try the new Royal Oak 100% Charcoal Pellets! They really increase the smoke flavor. I’m going to try and blend in some 100% cherry with the charcoal

      How much of a difference in smoke flavor on the Camp Chef Woodwind is the Level 1 setting versus the Level 10 setting? Also, if the setting is at 10, how much of a difference does the Masterbuilt or Chargriller have over the Camp Chef Woodwind? Is it even close?

    • @Steviethegr8
      @Steviethegr8 3 года назад +1

      Ive got a question, with a pellet grill and a smoke tube is the smoke flavor the same as the gravity fed? I’m a big fan of that heavy smoke flavor and want the most smoke flavor that will be the easiest to use.

    • @AndersonsSmokeShow
      @AndersonsSmokeShow  3 года назад

      A smoke tube is definitely going to increase the smoke flavor. Now will it compare directly with the charcoal from the gravity fed? Maybe, but between the two you are almost always going to get more smoke from the gravity fed. Now my test with the charcoal pellets went really well and they smokiness was much more apparent than just standard pellets

    My Char-griller 980 must be an outlier. I smoked a large brisket flat on Monday using Fogo lump and, after 12 hours, I still had some fuel left.

    • @nbgambler
      @nbgambler 3 года назад +1

      I've also been able to keep 225 for 10+ hours, but depends on ambient, etc. Mine were on especially warm nights, but not enough overnight cooks to compare. I'd say that 22 lbs of pellets will trump the gravity 980's hopper everytime, but for half the cost 😎

    I take 2 Paper towels, put oil on one, then fold them together small enough to fit in in Masterbuilt 560 Digital vertical Smoke/Grill, then light them with torch.

  • @nbgambler
    @nbgambler 3 года назад

    In reference to the time to cool down the gravity 980 before being able to put it away ( or under a cover on my case) - I added high temp gasket to the hopper lid, ash pan lid, and fan lid - and now I can fill the hopper for short cooks, and have combustion stop as quickly as I imagine is reasonable for charcoal. Mods aren't apples to apples as product reviews go, but I think very worthwhile on this smoker. Thanks for your great content!!

      I mean it really depends on what you are trying to accomplish with a new grill... a WSM is a legit smoker so you may find it difficult to replicate the smoke taste that you are use to.... If you are simply looking for a grill to quickly fire up and throw some brats or burgers on, then maybe gas is best... What are you looking to replace in your backyard?
