- We take you on a unique journey into the heart of a US Navy aircraft carrier. But we're not just looking at the big, loud airplanes - we're also diving into the busy world of the ship's kitchen, called the galley!
First, we'll guide you through the hustle and bustle of the flight deck. Here, we'll meet the amazing crew members who make sure every airplane is ready for takeoff and can land safely. We explain everything in a simple, easy-to-understand way. Ever wonder why some sailors wear yellow shirts and some wear green? We'll tell you all about it!
We also reveal the secret language of the flight deck: hand signals. Even with all the noise, the team communicates flawlessly using special gestures. You'll learn about the thumbs-up signal, how aircraft taxiing is directed, and the exciting moments before an aircraft shoots off the deck!
But life on an aircraft carrier isn't all about planes. Sailors also need to eat! So, we'll take you below deck and show you what mealtime is like on a ship this big. You'll see how the galley team prepares thousands of meals each day and how sailors enjoy their food. #aircraftcarrier #usnavy #documentary

I wasn’t on a carrier but a sub-tender (AS-37) in 1978-82. This video brings back a lot of memories. Thanks to those young men & women for their service.

Pride of the proud American Navy 🌹

@@stevencgall but sir One mistake is America not stand for Palestine innocent peoples.
@@IrfanUddin-wt9nbPresident Biden announced that he would request a USD $100 Million Aid package from Congress to help the Palestinian people in the West Bank & Gaza. He’s also trying to get Egypt & Israel to open the border so food & water aid can get into Gaza within next 24-48 hours & to give Palestinians in Gaza who want to get to safety. We in America support a 2-state solution, which is US Policy, even though a lot of people in Gaza & West Bank, Iran, Afganistan & some other Middle Eastern countries chant “Death to America”. I was aboard the USS Constellation (CVA-64) in 1985-88. Participated in 2 Western Pacific Deployments from our San Diego home port. It was an amazing, memorable experience to see the world, learned a profession and serve your country. Go Navy!!! Protector of the sea. God bless America.

Many years ago back in the late 70's. USS Saipan visited Portsmouth UK. A group of us met some US sailors on leave in town . Got invited on to ship . They even made a cake for us had a look around and as I recall was fitted out as a hospital ship. We returned the favour and took the guys to a 200 year old British pub . We never even put our hands in our pockets. Very generous and friendly guys and to cap it all took them back to my Mothers tiny little house where they presented her with a ships plaque
Great example of alliance with British, Saipan was probably a expeditionary ship. Small carrier with Marine detachments.
Great job. Big salute to the USA and its responsible and dedicated citizens, soldiers and sailors. Love and respect from India
May the Good Lord bless and protect the crewmen and crewwomen of the USS GERALD R. FORD
@ 03:20 I never knew food was used for recruitment and retention and I served on 5 ships lol. Back in the pirates days it was just grog and banik or jerky. The US NAVYs sub force is notorious for good food. I agree good food is essential for ships morale and a closed mess does have the best of options. Go NAVY! 🇺🇸⚓️✌🏻🍻
Amen! Food menus were awesome aboard USS Seawolf SSN 575. 1973
in my day (82-95) we called it UNREP & VERTREP. I was a Master Helmsman who drove the ship in all precarious situations. As a Deck seaman then as a Quartermaster. To Include the Panama Canal & Mississippi River twice for Madi Gras in New Orleans. Luv seeing this stuff. I've been out nearly 30yrs but still miss the life aboard ship.
A very detailed and interesting video. A highly motivated crew, and individuals that make up the day to day routine of an aircraft carrier 👏👏👏
from chicago thanks for your service
Somehow my pre-sleep thought ritual is to imagine myself taking off and landing on an aircraft carrier in a fighter jet. I can barely handle roller coasters but I’ve always had a love for flight
Great video, thank you. An thank you to all the men & women out there doing their jobs in the Navy.
I think you're all crazy but I appreciate you. I was young an crazy once as well but not anymore.
Incredible to see this. Thank you for sharing. Thank you for serving others who need military help. May God bless you and keep you safe.
Whenever we came alongside an AO, AOE, or an AE for refueling or stores / bombs, etc., we always told our gunners mates to aim for the guy with the yellow helmet because they were the rig captain. We came alongside an MSC ( military sealift command) ship to refuel. The crew of that ship looked and dressed like a bunch of has been, scrounged out, burned out bikers. We were AJ squared away compared to them. Emergency breakaways were fun for us but sucked for them. Basically when the horn tooted and said emergency breakaway, we released the probe and told the oiler or whatever to slack the span wire at which point we basically threw their rig into the water and pulled away.
Can you say that again in English? 😊😀😁😆🤣😂
@declanmurphy6427 should have asked you to use "Civilian Terms" since you're already using English. It's not your fault they don't understand these specific words. And yeah, I get I'm being a bit of a female Karen right now. Just wanted to know how it felt and it's not great. LOL
Enjoying the occasional content with my ads. Geeeeez!
I was fortunate enough to spend a day onboard The USS John C Stennis (CVN73) as a civilian (Friends and Family Day). I was blown away. Aside from witnessing all four of my children's births, by far, the greatest day of my life. Anybody that would mess with this country is clearly out of their mind. 😊
Was this at PSNS in Bremerton?
My uncle took me on a F&F day on the Nimitz when I was 14. Coolest day of my life. Now I’m an airline pilot.
Yeah, the Navy can't do much when it comes to keeping illegal invaders from simply marching across a southern border in sweaty sneakers, which it is doing by the millions. Protect the seas, only to allow the enemy to come by the millions merely by poking a hole in a fence. SmdH
My brother served on the uss ranger. Thank you all men and women of the us armed forces
Service in my heart...thanks again
Thank u to all our veterans for ur service much appreciation and respect for u all ur heros in my eyes god bless
BadAss! Everyone on the carrier knows their job and performs in great rhythm to the task at hand. Love to watch flight deck ops. A little bit different from my world under the sea. Thanks for your service!
I had my heart set on working on any part of the flight deck when I enrolled. I ended up no passing my eye exam...no glasses allowed. Dream shattered
I wish I could un-retire and participate.
Not in the woke navy of today
Bless the sailors!
USS FORRESTAL CV-59 82-84 Maport Fl- Mediterranean- Suez Canal- Indian Ocean 82 during the Iranian hostage issue. Got close enough to fly a fallen Shipmate to Diego Garcia and then stateside.
My father served on the Kersarge essex class carrier cv33 and my cousin Monte was a jet fighter mechanic and worked on the f14 tomcats aboard the Nimitz.
I served aboard the USS Oriskany CVA34 during the Vietnam War. 1971-1974. I was a Jet Mechanic too worked on A7B Corsair IIs.
Whenever I started to wonder if I wanted to leave carriers I would see how these ships rode out the heavy seas and decided I'd stay with carriers. Mad props for the 'Tin Can" fleet. You guys are awesome.
Really amazing video they deserve the best culinary kitchen as they offer their lives to serve USA and the whole world during crisis.
Did one med-cruise with our f-18 squadron VFA-131 Wildcats on board the USS Coral Sea 87/88 , The memories will last your whole life great times indeed !
Yeah buddy, I was on CV66 for 3yrs. Quite an experience.
Good video....was on a AF from 1963 to 67.....remember those replenishing days at sea.....
Very good sumptuous food for the entire crew, is winning the war even though it have not yet started. 👏👏👏👏❤️❤️💙
My dad was on the SS Calvin Coolidge a transport ship for troops to the South Pacific region of WW2. They struck a mine and the ship sank. Most were able to swim from the deck to the shore. A couple weren't so lucky and drowned. God bless you all and Maranatha. Come, Lord Jesus.
USS Midway CV-41. ‘83-86. Learned how to be a responsible adult. 🎉
Got to watch those knee knockers ! Lexington cvt-16 86-88
Good Video. Thought you might talk about some of the other parts of the carrier. Below the Flight deck. I spent 24 years on 5 different Carriers. Only way to go is Aviation part but had friends that showed me the parts that made the boat work. I thought it was interesting. Even the Arresting gear and the cats. Not real glorious but essential.
Wow, what a wonderful & marvelous creation USS Gerald ! How much lucky the soldiers deployed there. We can't even imagine such a thing. I wish if I could have a glance on it. It is really one of the wonders of the world.
This was prophetic
I served onboard USS Saratoga CV-60 from '69 to '73. Many 6th fleet Med cruises then 10 months Vietnam @Yankee Station (Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club).
Hellofaway to see the world but I don't regret any moment of it.
WONDERFUL COVERAGE THANK YOU FOR A MUCH APPRECIATED DOCUMENTARY
HOW DO THE SHIPS GET INTO WAR ZONES DURING WAR TIME.
That's what makes a superpower a superpower!
Honor and Salute you deserve.
Served on the Coral Sea in the 80s. A much older carrier but same experience. Really enjoyed deployments but I was single. The ships store was the size of my bedroom .
Good greatest that the ones first started seeing in 1978 in San juan.❤
Thank you,for this,I thought, servicemen still were given canned rations.
Thank you so. much, to each Man and Women, who serve our country, in every military unit. 💜🙏🙏🙏
Back in high school, 70s 😊, we dorm girls were invited to go on board the USS DULUTH anchored at sea, Dumaguete city, Negros Oriental, Philippines .. We were treated good, to a limited tour and to their mess hall, goodness, lots and lots of food/goodies😋.. And we were given souvenirs, necklaces with engraved USS DULUTH.. (sadly, mine was stolen after a year😢)
Thanh you for this informative video as the world relying in your support .
Thank you for your Service. 🇺🇸

Wow that's amazing and God Blessed to all of you guys 🙏🙏💕🇺🇸💪
So glad I’ve been on it before 🙏🏼
On the Hawk 67 68 with VA75 great bunch of shipmates
I’ll never forget we had MRE’s as part of a teambuilding exercise at work. My boss who at the time was a captain in the naval reserves, said “I’m not eating that crap”.
Excellent Video, Thanks Everyone. 👍 🇺🇸
Lead time. Leading up to the ship show 😜 GOOD LUCK TO ALL AND MAY GOD BLESS OUR EFFORTS TO THE NEXT GENERATION LONG-TERM EVOLUTION 🙏🧬 AND SUCH THINGS 😀
Retired ships are turned into small islands providing a small town or two with a beach and restaurants 🏖️ and we go swimming and fishing with the family. We vacation there all the time
It was a dream scenario. I also like to rest on old aircraft carriers.
@@UsNavySeals9x dude make a beach. Find some sand. A bbq. Some refreshments . Good people invited. Nothing better bro🤘😁

14:50 into the video....... what an absolutely phenomenal shot of HMS Queen Elizabeth.... complete with an F-35B taking off..., an RFA replenishment ship and a NATO Ally Frigate carrying out this delicate double procedure. 🇬🇧✌️

wow.now that was awesome
We should be grateful of our soldiers.God bless the Usa.
I worked in 2A, where we had made catapult steam. CVN 65.
Am proud of the men and women in the navy
Do sailors have the opportunity to get something to eat at any time,or do they all eat at specific times, and by specific positions. So the galley crew eats at a specific time, same with other those who man the ship or does each group eat together
Amazing ❤
Great video
This is where my tax dollars should go to the brave men and women protecting our freedom.
I served in the Ronald Reagan Carrier flight deck officer Navy has the best food curinary among the military .
GOD BLESS US OF AMERICA❤
Being an OG Pro Chef for 40+ years, I know what goes into running a 24/7 Kitchen, but on land not on a Military Ship where if something is forgotten it's not easy to get during maneuvers and trying to work during a confrontation. smh These people are amazing!!!
Very good work done ,
