hey, I help out n work at this shop when not running my maintenance company and unload/decide where fish go during freshwater import days. They do massive water changes every few days, so i think you may be mistaking the “no water changes” with Justin’s place downtown. As for the stocking, shipments come in multiple times a week and most fish are only in the shop for a few days tops. it’s a “wholesale to be public” style store where instead of housing the fish longterm in hopes of selling them for a huge markup, they’re sold for a tiny bit more than they’re purchased for, basically giving you the best deal possible. It’s definitely different from your average fish store, the owner’s from China and likes to run his store his own way. Also for the “unsafe” upstairs, actually the whole place is earthquake proof, store made it thru the 89 quake and is standing still haha. Would’ve given you a tour if i knew u were coming tho, hope you liked it.
What a gem of a place! Wish I had a fish shop near me like that. Just to go and look at all the different fish regularly, even if I wasn't buying, would be cool.
My favorite Aquarium and Plant store in my hometown San Francisco, they really do have everything. My place to get my African Cichlids, Bichir, Parrotfish, and goldfish feeders for my Bichir. You gotta catch your own fish, it's a good thing my wife is great at catching those fast African Cichlids. We come here a lot for whatever we need. Great and friendly staff. I give them 2 thumbs up and 5 stars.
It's a really amazing store that has pretty much anything you can ask for but definitely quarantine anything you get here. Bought a long fin albino bristlenose a few years ago and it had camallanus and didn't show any signs for over a month...killed it and all by breeder guppies.. my advice is to quarantine at least a month
When I lived in the bay area this was a must stop whenever I was in the city. You should have mentioned that the store is on Clement St not on 6th Ave.
I can't believe I've never been there this whole time, of course I live an hour north but used to make trips to the city at least every month or so. Definitely going this year especially with restrictions being downgraded.
This place is fascinating! I purchased 6 S. petricola here for $9 each (yes, that’s right) and they are all doing fantastic. Can’t wait to go back. Oh, and don’t forget the bahn mi next door.
You can get anything there and you can get great prices but don’t forget your quarantine period! Prophylactic treatment recommended but ain’t that always the case.
That eel was in a larger tank, it was one of my favorites along with the spotted stimg ray (was there March 17th), but they did have small tanks and they do have half off on Sundays, from what I hear it gets wild. They sell most of their fish quick so many of them don't stay in those tanks for too long. I'm so happy with the fish and service I got there
I used to go to one south of San Francisco I a warehouse owned by a Chinese dude named Peter that was huge like whole warehouse was affordable too he moved last he told me decades ago to la or San Diego
I definitely don't support a store like that ive been in the hobby for over 40 years and have respect for all the living animals i have kept. Clean tanks humane living conditions and treating the fish well until they go to there new homes is the least we can do as human beings. Truly reprehensible and i find nothing funny about it whatsoever. In my opinion they are not good for the hobby we all love! Pathetic

We have a shop in San Diego like that (net your own). But they don’t have nearly that kind of selection!
What’s the name of the store?

A 2 month quarantine is a requirement if you get anything from here.
I think thats the situation with all fish you get just to make sure they arent sick
They should change the name to Parasite City Aquarium. The best time to go is Wed morning when new stock is delivered.
Jay i watch all the video channels its bill from 6th ave aquarium
Hi Bill Clinton LOL
Prices here in Toronto are high!😔
Aren't stingray's illigal in California?
