One time ago I had the oppertunity to do some repairs on the exterior of the purity factory and hinted at buddy to sneak out a fresh pack of em. He came out with a wooden carboard box filled with goodies fresh from the factory. The taste is uncomparable, if you ever have the oppertunity to get em fresh like that definatly do it. Ate a full pack that day, didn't feel too good afterwards but it was too good.
As a Newfoundlander, cod touches and Jiggs dinner are DELICIOUS 😋
Love it! I live next to the purity factory in St John's Newfoundland.... Smells amazing allllllll the time.
Me mudder just sent me a pack of Purity peppermint nobs, god love her!
Loves*
My favorite in Newfoundland jam jams
Jamjams are also in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
@@sleepykyokoxoxo Tea-Vees are my favorites.
For Purity biscuits it's all about the lemon creams.
store near me used to sell all the good Purity loveliness: everything mentioned here: jamjams, lemon creams, loaf 🍞 bread, you name it
Loves Jam Jams. They taste better in Newfoundland, sitting in our cabin with a coffee and staring out at the icebergs, puffins and whales. I can get them in a local grocery store in Huntsville, Ontario, but it just not the same.
solid !
Hi u are awesome I love republic of Doyle
I’m a Newfoundlander born and bread and I’ll be one till I die. I proud to be an islander and here’s the reason why
I free as the wind and the waves wash up the shore. There’s no place I would rather be then here Newfoundland!!!!
ONLY NEWFIES WILL UNDERSTAND THIS!!!!!!
Claire Delaney yes by’e
I'm a come from away and I knows this great song
Haven’t heard it in a while by’s
I’m guessing by ‘Delaney’ you’re one of us somewhere along the way? 🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
Alec MácCnáimhín oh my god! I actually do have family from Ireland if that’s where you mean
love jam jams and I am from NB ..
cant beat nl, born and raised love it here lol
What about fish and brews?
As a Newfoundlander who has lived in Sarajevo (Bosnia & Herzegovina) for one year and Belgrade (Serbia) for three years, Newfoundland is NOT like the Balkans. Whereas Newfoundlanders boil the bejesus out of everything, in the Balkans you grill (aka BBQ) the bejesus out of everything.
Or a cod covered in in flour and salt and pepper then fry it till golden brown. Homemade beets and potatoes.
Allan gives the love to Labradorians! Gawd love he's cotton socks!
Best Kind
I live around the Bonovista are aswell. I'm a bay girl!
cod tounges, halibut cheeks, boiled dinnr... its not just a newfie way it's all of atlantic canada
I miss having Purity Jam Jams. Hell, all their goods are brilliant! M' mum's family are from th' Bonavista area of Newfoundland, so I grew up on all that.
If you're not a vegan & get a chance at having some of these, you won't regret it. It's goood stuff.
I need to go back up soon. Best place in th' world all around. :)
Only every Newfoundlander ever ! lol Anything that has "spice" in it is considered "hot" by a Newfoundlander's standard ;)
In my class they asked what did you have for supper I said Jigs dinner and needless to say everyone looked at m like iwas crazy
I was born in Newfoundland and now live in Alberta, cant find cod tongues anywhere here, I've come close to madness trying to find them.
Lord fuck I knows I’m not cravin a glass of syrup here now
Luvs me Jam Jams buddy ! Jimmy Jams !
I miss the Purity Hard Tack, as strange as it sounds LOL
NO gravy on Jigg's dinner, it's basically corned beef and cabbage, but they do boil the bejesus out of it, LOL. And I love Jam Jams
gravy on jiggs if you're smart dafk wrong with ya
My personal favorite, lemon creams, slathered in butter :)...yummy
Did the photo of Jiggs have pot liquor or gravy on it? Because if it's gravy it's not a true Jiggs.
Eat all the Jam-Jams. (Even if I prefer Tea-Vees.)
That Newfoundland wasn't part of Canada till 1949 amazes me. The United States, at the end of WWII, should have worked hard to get Newfoundland into the states. I have visions of people from Appalachia, Texas, California, waterman from the Chesapeake, Bronx, and a Newfie all in the same having a conversation with nobody understanding each other. Do I even need to mention how much the food would have been?
Well we were our own country and are in fact older then both Canada and the United States but I agree as a Newfoundlander if I can't have independence I think we'd have been better off joining the United States.
@@Countrybananas Are you sure? Because if you'd joined the US, you wouldn't have been a proper state. If you knew how badly American Samoa and Puerto Rico are doing, you'd change your mind quick.
@@caitthecat Why do you say we wouldn't have been a proper state??? You have no basis to make that claim especially because our joining the united states would require negotiations and you think we would except anything less then full statehood if not more autonomy?
George didn’t like tongues because he had big ones. There’s too much jelly in big tongues. You wants the small ones. Carrots, turnips, potatoes, and cabbage boiled with salt meat accompanies every dinner. Alone, it’s a Jiggs Dinner. When it accompanies a turkey or a chicken, or a roast, it’s a cooked dinner. I don’t understand why American food magazines do a big spread about Thanksgiving with all kinds of recipes for “side dishes”. What the Hell are “side dishes”? Thanksgiving is a cooked dinner with turkey. All the vegetables are boiled with salt meat, and there’s pease pudding in a bag dangling in the pot! Why the Hell would I want “sweet potatoes” (whatever the Hell they are) with marshmallows? How do you boil marshmallows??
This is just a weird comment. 1. How are you going to act like sweet potatoes are an “American thing” and 2. Thanksgiving is different in different countries, why would that be shocking to you? Also, if your Canadian, how are you shocked at the US doing something different? You are telling me the whole of Canada doesn’t have a “side dish”??????
I miss purity crackers and hard bread.
Dear Allan, you are absolutely gorgeous and very talented but no way am I eating anything you mentioned, sorry!
Agreed there is nothing spectacular bout neat's tongue... :| He's more natural and warm then his character on the show... :)
I like how he gives the audience the cookies, or what exactly are they? I'm from America and wound up loving that show because they had the DVD's in the public library here in Columbia Mo. I actually wound up liking a few Canadian shows, Little Mosque on the Prarie, Corner Gas, In The VIP room, and of course this.
who, george? SERIOUSLY?!
I miss cod tongues and cheeks
Milk on cod tongues? What you on about?
Food allergy concerns...really, George?
Pineapple Crush. Tried it. Ick.
I loves it b’y.
I didnt learn to love it until I was off the island for a couple of years and couldn't find it. Now I love it :)
It's a joke @sistalove. Are you the only Newfoundlander without a sense of humour?
Ones a vegan and the other is too vain to eat a cookie...........
George by’ you said it wrong.... being vegetarian or vegan etc.. means you have made a dietary decision, you don’t have a dietary condition. So it was incorrect for you to say “I can’t eat them” you should have said “I won’t eat them.” By the way.... you’re missing out
I meant George,... What a waste of tax payers money.
What about fish and brews?
