The bit where Videl is getting smacked senselessly where Goku said that she had all her vital organs, that was Piccolo going "ALL OF THEM?!"
It's a REALLY obscure reference to the original Piccolo Voice Actor who decided to use a really thick slurr to his words for... some reason. Goku said that he missed all his vital organs, and Piccolo delivered that same line in the exact same way you hear it here. This line also came back in DBZA Kai 2. They really like that goofy ass delivery

(You could assume she lied about it being her grandmothers name but it makes more sense for that to be why they named her that)

I'm not a huge fan of the white bandanna and shades, but Gohan with just the green gi and black spandex underneath was a legitimately cool outfit. Plus, it was something he could actually call his own as opposed to a lot of his other outfits like Goku's orange gi in the Buu Saga, Piccolo's outfit in the Cell Saga (pretty sure the purple Saiyan Saga outfit was also meant to look like his), and the Saiyan armor in the Frieza Saga.

Green fits Gohan well, his manga Demon Clan gi in Saiyan Arc was green and it looked better than the purple the anime used.
I think the spandex and and green is cool. Especially the spandex. I went in to. Ore detail about his fit choices in my gameplay of kakarot i think though
For clarification the ending part where they talking about the different characters like black frieza and broly and stuff is just post dragon ball super anime stuff. Cause the ending of DBZ is still apparently canon so everything that is currently happening in super is before the ending of Z

DBZA and TFS 100% ignited my passion for Dragonball. I watched it as a kid but wasn't passionate about it. Same with the reaction channel Blind Wave and their passion around Star Wars. Passion can be contagious.

iirc there was something about majinn buu thatget mentioned where he isnt really " sentient" per se. instead he is the manifestation of an event in the lore called " Majinn purification"(think purge), whihc in turns means that buuu is effectively a force of Nature.

Yeah. Buu only truly gains someone's powers when he absorbs them. However Fat Buu was not worried about absorption. Only Evil Buu, Super Buu, and Kid Buu knew absorption would possibly make him stronger. Fat Buu was more worried about food. So any strong fighters he would turn into food. Maybe more strength meant it tasted better. I'm not sure. Evil Buu reflects Fat Buu's candy beam and eats him afterwards yet somehow still gains Fat Buu's power after eating him. Probably the only time eating someone made Buu stronger overall

you should give the dbza commentaries a watch, it has 2 of the 3 main writers reacting to the whole series from ep 1 and it gives you a lot of perspective to how much love and thought goes into the show and a lot of jokes that go over your head

I can really appreciate the chances you’re giving this classic series. I will say, you may notice some differences in the Buu Saga that are actually worse than the anime, but OVERALL Buu Saga is just mid for me, besides Vegeta’s sacrifice. Also Gohan’s Kamehameha against Buu’s egg was pretty freakin hype. Also him powering up for Kibito. But my personal favorite Arcs are:
-Baba’s Tournament
-22nd Tournament
-23rd Tournament
-Saiyan Saga
-Namek Saga
-Android Saga
The Super Reunion bit was them recapping what happened in Dragon Ball Super which canonically takes place post Buu but before GT
Although Super kinda makes parts of GT no longer make sense, unless I'm mistaken.

As a db fan who grew up watching the show I’m glad to hear you are starting to enjoy it more but I do agree that the buu saga has some issues. Just don’t let people ruin your enjoyment cause I’m definitely looking forward to seeing more of your content relating to the series! 👍

At the end they weren't referring to GT they were making reference to Super. In the GT timeline GT takes place after the end of DBZ. People keep annoyingly calling it non-canon when in reality it is it's own thing. Meanwhile Super has gone on long enough that it has started contradicting the end of DBZ so that means that by their logic it can't be considered canon either.

i remember the reason for TFS not wanting to do buu saga was: it was their least favorite saga, they were burned out after all the years making it, and if I'm remembering right they had so e copyright stuff going on also
The reason fat buu doesn’t change when he eats Dabura is because Dabura is weaker than him, or the Kai that made him fat. He is fat because he’s already absorbed a Kai, who I believe was the strongest Kai, and his body shifted from his kid form to his fat form when he did that. He changes appearance based on the strongest being inside him.

I first watched BDZ during the Andriod saga @ the ripe young age of 21. Watched to the end of Buu. I fell in love with this whole story so much that I watched everything that has to do with it. I resisted TFS for so long and then caved. Now let's be honest, TFS DBZA is probably the best introduction into the DBV. PS you missed the "Kiao what" joke.
There's things i like about it
but I'm sad that it's not what I imagined it would be like having grown up with DBZA and YGOA
Over time this kind of content grew to be longer and more involved with more work. The Namek and Cell arcs (the last two seasons I believe?) were works of art.
I'd show them to people unironically with complete confidence they'd find things to love and enjoy.
I can't imagine anyone showing this to people who didn't have a past with DBZA.
I'd probably tell a friend to give DBZA a shot and if they feel like watching this part that's just a bonus. (as in I'd say absolutely nothing, but be delighted if they enjoyed it on their own anyway)

I hear that about growing up with stuff, usually I only watch subs over dubs because older dubs had a bad habit of changing stuff, but any time I watch or play Naruto games/anime, I put that on English because the voices just sound right to me because I grew up with them,
Naruto is one of the few anime I'll go out of my way to watch the filler , mostly because the story focuses so much on Naruto and Sasuke that all the other characters kind of get sidelined
As far as shit-talking? No worries , people get way too personal about that stuff nowadays, back when I was in school, you'd see someone in the hallway, talk shit for a bit and walk away smiling

I like dragonball but lets be real here any one that watches other animes know that dragonball and pokemon have the worst written stories in anime history. The fight are great and that's why most people love it. Who really liked snake way or how long the frieza fight dragged once goku was finally super sayian. When we saw how much stronger goku was than trunks the first time he got back to earth it was clear he was stalling against frieza for no reason.
the main reason they did it in bits isnt because it would be time wasting or like that, they wanted to make buu saga but due to copy right they couldnt continue or they would most likely get sued.

TFS didn't do Buu abridged because Toei copyrighted them so many times they had enough. That's the main reason they stopped. If Toei let them do it, they would have 100% did the entirity of the Buu Saga.
Not the only reason. They also had burn-out from doing the series for so long and struggled to find a way to do the Bojack arc while writing jokes for it, so they dropped it in favor of doing shorts. The only reason why they did the Buu bits was because Totallynotmark asked them to for his buu saga review in the same vein as an earlier review he did.
