I am from 1984 and first time I touched a computer, I was 11 or 12 years old. New school, new rules. They had a small room, maybe 5m x 10m room. If I recall correcly, they had 6 COMPAQ PRESARIO, those models similar with CDS 520 model. I can't recall or don't know the model. They started a "computer club", students could use them.... lots of student for just a few computers... equals... mess. I recall that these computers had a 486 processor with 66 mhz, 8192 KB of RAM because when it wsa powered it started counting RAM at top left, 400MB HDD, 3 controls for vídeo at the left side along with a mic at left of the screen, built-in speakers, diskette drive at left and cdrom at right with volume buttons near the screen. They were running DOS and Windows 3.1 or 3.11. I literally didn't have clue how to use the computer, what was DOOS. I followed what others did/do. Some installed some games and buried them into directories. I was fascinated with such marvel of tech. My family was poor in 1995+ and only had access to computers in schrool, only got a pc at home because the high school had spare computer junk. The 486 computers in that room remained there for 2 years. Teachers also ended up using them at the end of the day. Then they were moved to a room near the school library. We had to enter the library and then the room was in front, hidden by a wooden door, later in 2000 replaced by glass door. The computers were the same, just the OS was upgraded from Windows 3.1 to Windows 95. And yes... we were using Windows 95 even in 2000. These Compaq were too slow for Windows 98. I can't recall if the computers came originally with 400MB or if they were later upgraded with 400MB HDDs because Windows 95 was heavier than Windows 3.1. In 1997 September+, I finally got regular computer classes (no DOS.. just some basic typing, drawing, net..). We had a Pentium 75 tower running Windows 98. Again, we were still using the 486 Compaq presarios until mid-2000. I don't know anything after this point of time. The Compaq Presarios were also used in other places in school, like the teacher's room, the director's room, the librarians who catalog the books also used them. I remember also seeing other computers in school, less powerful than the 486 but once the years gone ahead, I saw pcs running 98. Once I left that school, I know nothing what happened to the old PCs, maybe they were given to students or throw for recycling. If I want to get again one specimen of Compaq Presario? YES! But they are rare and the shipping is f... expensive.
This video is such a nice watch, I don't know much about these older models of computers since they're a tiny bit before my time but it's very easy to feel your passion for this piece of hardware :)
His voice is low because he is far from the mic but we can notice if he moves the head back and forwarde, the voice is higher. He could get some chest mic.
I have a Rode Wireless Go 2 setup, but for some reason they pick up my breathing and makes me sound out of breath lol. At the moment my recording area and setup is a work in progress. I do want to get a different style lapel mic at some point
It's not too important. We can hear you if we turn up the volume a bit. It's probably a bit annoying if the voice volume suddenly gets higher. Besides that, it was a nice video. Keep it up.

@@hugosimoes5119I have it set so that it just barely peaks into yellow in OBS; next video I’ll just move the slider just a hair.
