If there’s one thing Janet is gonna give on a track, it’s harmony. The way this woman has mastered layering is mind boggling. She doesn’t get enough credit for that methinks.
Janet Deserves alot of credit i think that she doesn't get. Immensly talented and to make a name for herself and carve out a style on her own and move away from being seen as just 'Michaels sister' is no small feat. Janet is amazing.
I totally agree 1000%. her background harmonies are unmatched and it's not talked about enough💯💕
I feel like the producers would be the ones that deserve the credit there, but she definitley gets props for her vocal prowess which she certainly doesn't get enough shine for.
@@randychampion184nah the producers mix and put them together. A lot of vocalists, especially black vocalists back in the day had a lot of harmonic skill.
First, thank you for this video! I tell anyone who is musically inclined, that Janet is a master of voacl production. The chemistry of Janet,Jam and Lewis is phenomenal. She isn't a "belter", but her voice is beautiful. As a music educator, I immediately recognize when an artist has an ear, and does she ever. Her choice of harmonies and overdubs are smart. She's one of the few artist who will lay down her backing vocals first. Thank you again!!!
Janet Jackson is the a legend
Her music is timeless
If All for you was released nowadays it would be a smash hit as it was 23 years ago
AMEN!!🙏
I'm geeking out watching your videos. These production breakdowns are youtube goldmine.
That is so awesome. thaks so much im really glad youre liking the videos! thank you so much!
These are great can you do some Brandy tracks from her Full Moon album there are some great instruments and vocals on there to explore
I love that you were able to break down that she uses harmonies!
You mean like she does in every one of her songs lol?
Favourite new YT channel!!!! 💥
Oh man that is a HUGE compliment thanks so much! I’m shouting you out next Janet video!
Can you Pleaseee do If. That's one of her most intricately produced songs
Which song is that? I'd love to have a look!
OHHHHHH its called 'IF'. haha yes i will try and find it! a few people have requested it
i shoutout you and the others who requested it here. ruclips.net/video/Sg1Y9-_wNjk/видео.html
Can you do "because of love" by janet. The vocals on that are brilliant.
That was amazing!! Love hearing this and the breakdown of it.
Can you do one for "If" ? The harmonies/ vocals on that are insane
ive found the session for IF I'm just investigating if its going to be a reliable session :) so short answer , yes, i can and i will :) ill let you know when its coming up
i shoutout you and the others who requested it here. ruclips.net/video/Sg1Y9-_wNjk/видео.html
This was awesome! Love Janet. Would love to hear ‘if’ or ‘thats the way love goes’ broken down this way. Cheers!
'If' is definitely going to happen. stay tuned.
@@luffegun sweet! Cant wait
i shoutout you and the others who requested it here. ruclips.net/video/Sg1Y9-_wNjk/видео.html
I wonder if the "edit" is sampled from the very beginning of escapade. Also near 38:00 janet messes up sometimes bc she does record so many harmonies and doesn't feel like redoing
She said tell me I’m the only one. 😂 Also she said if you make a move, not if you like milk. 😂 by the way, it was revealed in her documentary recently that in the early 90s she actually was going to do a multi million dollar deal with Coca-Cola. But The allegation that came up again Michael made Coca-Cola pull the plug. Just because she was his sister.
She probably liked milk more than coke anyway! hahha thanks for the insight on those lyrics! :)
I’m so happy that I’ve found your channel. I LOVE videos like these, because I always wanna know the hidden gems that complete the song! Thank you so much for this
Thanks so much for finding me! :) I’m glad you’re enjoying them!
This makes me want to listen to the entire album.
Loved this analysis
if you can get your hands on Trust A Try you will be in for a treat and I would LOVE to hear the stems on that!
Make a move it's all for you baby, tell me I'm the only one, soon we'll be having fun, come over here and get some... is what she's saying 😅
I'd love you to breakdown some ABBA, Queen and Brandy.
Also Running Up That Hill
I have some Queen! If you go back to some of my first few videos I’ve done a few songs.
I can’t find any Abba that is reliable unfortunately. And running up that hill has only just resurfaced so there hasn’t been a long standing request for those multitracks so I’m not sure if anyone even has those. I am always looking out for them though! Brandy! There’s a name I haven’t heard in a while I’ll keep my eye out for her!
So i read in a producers magazine, that they said two Madonna tracks should be dissected Don't tell me (oddly in the US cds were returned due to the unusual beat and production made people think it was a manufactured error despite being intentionally done) and Future lovers.
Thanks for sharing and analysing this. I've had this song in my head a while and been listening to it and then discovered your channel. This is a feel-good song. And I agree Janet's songs are sometimes underrated but hearing what goes into them, like this one - such creativity. Beautiful vocal harmonies, a range of instruments, thoughtful placement of effects including vocal effects, the sample. I agree with other comments here, if you are able to analyse If, that will be cool. Jam and Lewis' productions are always very big for Janet so I'm sure that there are several Janet songs that will be interesting to analyse - maybe Velvet Rope, I Get Lonely, Rhythm Nation, Somebody To Call My Lover, Feedback, Alright, Love Will Never Do (Without You)
The piano in that glow sample really makes the song... Kinda obvious now
I enjoyed this!
Me too! thanks for coming along on the ride!
Loving these multitrack reactions. Please do some Timbaland/Aaliyah tracks if you can. Main ones would be Try Again, We Need A Resolution, More Than A Woman and Are You That Somebody 😊
I know I've given you grief about it on another video, but you talk more than anyone I follow online, including music podcast. 😂Kidding aside, is this a podcast that you stream on RUclips?
Just found your awesome videos. In my radio production days we would flip the reels and do that reverse with tape echo, not with a reverb, that would be added when playing forward, messing around with tape speeds you'd get some nice varieties. Treat yourself to "The Glow of Love" by Change featuring Luther Vandross.
You should do Someone To Call My Lover....those vocals in the chorus.
I love that i just happened to stumble across this video. I fuckin LOVE Janet amd this was great to hear! Do u think u can find and go thru her song "Velvet Rope" with the Exorcist sample?
Also can u find Brandy as well? Her harmonies are also top notch.
I am so glad you stumbled across the video! Brandy is really hard to find and I’ve had some requests for velvet rope but no luck on the session so far.
I have 6 more vids coming out then having a break for a while so I’ll cram as many good ones in as I can! Hope you’re subbed for updates :) thanks again!
@@luffegun i subbed soon as I finished this vid. Just been going thru your vids for the past day now lol also just any time, I'd like to throw Usher's name in the ring for a video too 😅 lol
Love this song... How do you get your hands on these files?
(guess you just made a video about that)
So I’ve always wondered this about Mariah and now I think I’m hearing it with Janet; is it a production “secret” to blend a whisper track (the artist literally whispering the words) into the vocal mix? Im know they both have breathy vocals but I could swear I hear full-on whispers in parts? It would make sense to me that it could add a soft fullness to the vocals.
18:48 love this part
Your videos are such a delight.
I'd like to see you breakdown If or Rhythm Nation or I Care by Beyoncé.
i shoutout you and the others who requested it here. ruclips.net/video/Sg1Y9-_wNjk/видео.html
Is it normal for the beat/sample to be included in the vocal track?
Not usually! Unless it’s some light headphone bleed. If there is beat in the vocal it’s normally artificially stripped from the final mix with software! Thanks for watching these my friend!
@@luffegun great video!
Tell me I’m the only one
You’re the only one! ;)
@@luffegun I should have put that in quotes. That’s what Janet was saying in the song. 😝😜
Saying she’s underrated then in the same sentence but didn’t buy this album but it’s cool… smh
I was a heavy metal kid at the time I didn’t come to my senses for another decade
Too much Over Talking! The information & commentary during your breakdowns are is & necessary, but you do way too much unnecessary responses ie sidebar trivia, coughing, laughing, & singing.
I agree. But I can’t have the video up if I’m just playing their content outright. That would be stealing their work. I have such a good time making these and creating brand new unheard content for RUclips that I can’t help but sing along. I encourage anyone to have a shot at sourcing and producing as many of these as there are on my channel. Thanks for watching Darius!
waaaaaaay too much
You can just listen to it on Spotify without me talking you know.
Janet actually reverses a lot of versus in her music, have a look at so much better, trippy song you'll like it
"Do you like milk?" LOL. At 38 minutes in she's saying "You if you make...that move it's all for you baby...tell me I'm the only one..." It's "Jacksonese."
