  • In Under The Glass Ep 6 we take a look at Brett’s favorite high performance board to date… the Pyzel Radius.
    Shaped in Hawaii, shipped to North Carolina, then flown to Peru before he eventually put his feet in the wax, this board wasn’t even supposed to be part of this season’s lineup. But then Brett tried it….
    We’re taking viewer questions for our final episode of the season called “Lessons Learned” (Episode 9) If you have a question for Brett and Trip please post it below. We may not be able to answer them all but we will pick a few and answer them in the show. Thanks for following Under The Glass!

    Thought radius has been around for ages? Is this the new one or radius prime model?

    • @REALWatersports
      @REALWatersports  2 месяца назад

      This is the OG Radius. This board was made before the Prime was released. According to Jon Pyzel, the Prime added some updates he wanted to incorporate based on what they learned from the OG. “Just that I wanted to update it, added a small amount of width in the nose and a tiny bit of tail rocker. Just a refresh.” - Jon Pyzel.
      We have the Radius Primes in stock at REAL, but can always write up a custom with the OG file if someone wants to go that route.- Trip

    Would love to see a review on the Radius Prime and his thoughts on the differences. Also please review the High Line, one of my favorite shortboards ever.

    Ordered a Dark Arts custom Radius for Indo and was really happy to hear Brett so stoked on it. Took it out this week in good waves and couldn't agree more, pure magic. Would love to see how it differs with the prime. Great informative series guys.

    How does it compare as far as the differences and similarities to the Ghost, I really like the ghost when the waves are good.. I bought one of Jonjon's old used boards(6'2"x18 3/4"x2 1/2" 29L) PU poly and it works great in good-epic surf. Im 165ish 6'0", Anyone have ideas for what radius dims should I shoot for? I want to get a new board when I get back from my Alaska trip for end of summer into winter! Thanks for the reviews!

    How do you like the radius/radius prime versus the ghost? Looking for a new north shore board for head high and up and debating between the two

      @@REALWatersports Yeah! I want to get a new stick when I get back from my trip from Alaska. either the red tiger, radius, or another ghost. As long as the waves are nice, juicy, with good conditions, the ghost works in 2ft all the way up to 6ft in my size range.

    Brett, how do you explain such a big difference in volume with exactly the same dims, from 26.9L on your CIs to only 25.6L on your Pyzel Radius (even if it feels like 26L)? How does this even happen?

    • @REALWatersports
      @REALWatersports  2 месяца назад

      Just because the dims are the same, doesn't mean the amount of foam is the same in two different surfboard shapes. The thickness and width throughout a surfboard determine the amount of volume, and the difference of those numbers in the Radius vs. the Red Tiger are very noticeable if you put them side by side.

    I love the show and all the reviews, but for once in a life time, I would like to hear Brett say, I hate this board, this board is not for me. Seems like all the boards are amazing and are part of his quiver. And the Most hilarious part is that they are al 5 10 with same dims. Lost driver 3.0, CI 2. Pro, and now this one. Give me a break guys, come on.

      Thanks for the support! Yes, most surfers ride similar dimensions on their shortboards with slight variances for preferences and things like wave type. If he rode a 6'3", 34 liter Radius and compared that to the performance of other boards he sized appropriately, or just picked random dims for all of the short boards he reviews, it would remove any standard of comparison. I think a lot of people enjoy seeing him discuss how the board performs, and not how he wished the board would perform if he had it sized right. And so far this season he's liked the boards, some a lot more than others, but that's random we can't control that.
