It may not be a big deal to others but to him it may have been unforgivable to his own standards. It doesn’t mean he shouldn’t reconcile with it but it does take a lot of time especially if you aren’t being confronted with it. You just tend to try to forget your past and I felt it really personally with how he reacted to that.

All we know of his past (before this) is that he played football and was in a frat, maybe he was really bad on drugs for a while like narcotics that can change your standards and way of thinking( Percocets, Molly, H, etc) and had a very dark moment in his life that he pulled himself out of.
