We breed, raise, harvest, cut and pack all our own meats including beef, lamb, chicken, turkey, rabbit, quail, chukar, pheasant and pork on our 19 acre farm in Central Oregon. IT MAKES a HUGE difference. I am new to Carnivore four months in.. WE started raising our own foods six years ago for simple health for our dogs and ourselves... Now that I'm on Carnivore I compete with the pack of six dogs.. 😂.I also freeze dry all the livers, hearts, kidneys and pack my own pills (cant stand the taste to eat).. I also make my own cheese, sour cream, butter from whole unpasteurized raw milk.. Could not give up my cheese!.. And it does not seem to effect my progress. My suggestion is seek out a local farmer..

I have to do carnivore on a low low budget. If it is more 5 dollars a pound at the store it gets left at the store. I try to do ground beef but some weeks I can only afford sub 2 dollars a pound chicken thighs. I can only afford the store brand cheese when its on sale. I can't afford electrolytes even If I made my own. Since you have to buy so much stuff to make them. At some point if eggs keep going up I will have to stop eating them. I have been lucky finding them at Sam's I check every time I go. Sometimes I feel there is a lot of snobery in the carnivore community for people that can't afford the good stuff. It is still better than the garbage that most people eat doing the standard american diet.

If you have a butcher ask for tallow or suet. Sometimes the grocery store have it. Research how to render it and then cook with it. It has nutrients and most important, it's pure fat.

I’m 74 years old started carnivore in June 2024. I have had a lot of improved lab study so far. I have another one coming up. So I will see I do eat grass grass finish meat when I can get it but most often I have a fresh butcher that cuts my meat for me. I do love liver and can get carried away. Sometimes I have cut back to about 2 ounces a week. Blue my carnivore through Thanksgiving and Christmas but I’m back on now. Thanks Bella see you again and following videos.

I reached out to all my ranchers that I get my meat from to make sure they weren’t using them before ordering again. Birds are one animal that are made to eat grain (seeds), they have a gizzard. Getting protein into a bird usually comes from the grain (commonly soy beans). If you omit the grain then be sure the chickens are free ranging and have access to a healthy insect population. This will probably make your chicken raising endeavor seasonal. Dried alfalfa leaves is a source of vegetable protein. The hybrid meat chickens available today require a high protein diet to develop properly. Be careful which chicken breed you choose to raise.

A very serious recommendation, and think about this: Farming animals takes a lot fewer people to manage than crops. We don't need illegals to pick crops, we don't even need migrant farmers, we just need clever technology and people. Imagine if Trump opened up federal lands and got some laws passed that allowed massive grazing cattle rotations? I mean not just a circle, but an old school cattle drive - except it's not intended to take to market, it's intended to graze. You could sponsor a cow for your family and track its progress, you could start a business driving cattle, or set up veterinarian businesses along the routes, grass restoration and nutrient management businesses, all things that could bring down the cost of cattle while involving more people in a modern form of what used to be Americana.

I used to make a big pot with liver once a week, but lost my apetite for it.. I figure that was my body telling me I`d stored up enough vitamin A and other trace elements.
Also I recently quit the cheese (I may decide to buy a bite now and then) because I realized I was over-snacking and possibly overeating a bit because of it.. I watched a video (Dr Chaffee I think) talking about how dairy contains substances that stimulate you to eat more.. not a big deal but figure I`ll quit it (gave up the milk months ago, a bit of a heresy as Norwegian lol) for a while and see how I respond and if my weight stabilizes on a lower level.. I am comfortable but could possible loose just a little bit more.

I don’t have much choice so I mostly go for grain fed animals. I do however go full out zero carb and do get fatty native grass fed cow meat as fat stock. I load up on organic butter and beef lard whenever possible for added good fat. Aside from my regular 20/4 fast i do anywhere from 1 to 3x a week 40/8 extended fast and occasional but very seldom 1x every month or two 3 day fast. No dairy too whatsoever except for well aged milk kefir once a month and just mineral salt as a food additive. I do this to compensate for not having the luxury of eating whole organic meats all the time. So far it has work great for me, I also hit resistance training every day and do 1 to 2x a week jitsu training at 50years of age. I do however respond awfully to even one day of eating processed carbs back when I did eat when I was still keto. I feel and perform better in terms of strength and explosiveness back in my late teens and twenties as I was a fit vegetarian active sprinter back then. Over the years though of going low fat vegetarian from fit I became inflamed and obese with skin and gut issues. The only thing I can’t reclaim and surpass from my peak fit teen form is my endurance in long runs… definitely a lot less from how I performed before. But sprinting and power it’s significantly more at 50.

Thank you! I also have swollen feet the next day when I eat something inflammatory, usually if the food has added some spices or something else. I don't get this with pork meat, it's quite the opposite. It's possible that might be because glyphosate is not as widely used here in Europe, although not banned yet by the EU. They feed them barley instead of soy but that is probably not much better. I usually avoid chicken, not because I don't like it but I have to eat a lot more of it. It's less satiating for me.
Btw, for someone else reading this. I recommend people to try SBG membership. I was surprised that is well organised and you can get all the info you might have missed in your journey. It's not only pasteurized dairy. Homogenized too, or instead. The machinery for homogenization creates micelles (globular aggregates) so small that they pass directly through your intestinal walls and straight Into your bloodstream. Of course, raw dairy bypasses this problem as well, but you really need to keep your eye on these guys.

Yesterday around 11am, I had a can of sardines with 2 fried eggs, cooked in ev olive oil at low heat.
2 hours later my stomach "exploded", and I suffered severe diarrhea and bloating all afternoon and overnight . I have still not recovered.
I eat lots of eggs, sardines less frequently. I find that the same foods will sometimes upset my stomach, and a week or two later the same food has no effect.

If you have budget concerns on carnivore, beef and other ruminant meats have a far lower toxic lode than monogastric products like pork especially, and chicken, etc. I eat chicken once a week or less. I rarely eat pork. Because let’s be honest - pasture raised pork and chicken is enormously expensive. Always do the best you can but if you can’t afford even the relatively more affordable grass fed/grass finished, grocery store beef is still many levels up from the Standard American Diet most people are killing themselves with.
