Hidden Away: Old Miakka Preserve

Old Miakka Preserve is a rare remnant of longleaf pine forest and Florida scrub, most of which has been lost in Sarasota County. Just around the corner is Florida Native Plants Nursery & Landscaping where I found a few more additions to my Butterfly garden. Check it out if you're ever in the area!

very interesting..I am somewhat familiar with that area but I have never heard of this preserve before..btw the soundtrack is nice too!

Just checked my photo files. Haven’t been there since April 2017. Best I can figure, I spotted it on my way back to Sebring from Celery Fields visit. I may have to put it on my list to re-visit after the current rainy season.

i found a georeferenced pdf map of the preserve on the sarasota county website and downloaded it. looks like it works in the avenza maps app, which will show your location and also records your path.
