- Bmw r1200gs 2006, 50,000miles, head removed for inspection, no engine faults , just stripping to give engine paint and refresh. Video is just for stripping and inspection and is not a video on how to rebuild, thanks for watching hope you enjoy

The benefit of your video's is that it help us put it all back together again 😁. I managed to split my engine block and remove all the shattered plastic from the cam chain guide rails, the timing chain guides where also broken. The Suction tube and intake manifold are also toast with a hole clean through the suction tube probably from the cam chain tensioner.
Slight rust on the end of the crankshaft where the shaft seal had perished. So I'm hoping your not far behind.
The parts list is going to be expensive depending on what you think is going to need replacing on your're rebuild which would make this none viable for most, but for some of us the learning is priceless 😀
What guide are you using for disassembly?
Can't wait for the next episode.
Thank you neil, sounds like your having fun with your engine, yes i thought it would help people with there engine faults, iv struggled to find much info in past on rebuilds so this is why i put some clips together, im still learning tho ha, im planning on doing a type video’s where its like real time and minimal editing so it shows a true strip of engine now iv got my tripod, thanks for comments let me know if you want any measurements off this engine or specific video footage,
How are you getting on with your engine, just putting a couple of videos together, clutch and flywheel removal, and engine split for rest of internal components, then its time for crank cases to be refurbed
7:51 is that the "groove" for the chain sprocket?
I'm very curiously when you assemble the engine again on how to get the camshaft timed and shifle the sprocket on.
The R1250 DOHC seems to require a tool.
After spending a year fixing up my 2004, after a week on the road I’ve dropped a valve 🤦♂️ obviously the head casing is destroyed but are all the internal gubbins able to be reused if I’m able to save the bottom end?
@@smoll.miniatures im currently stripping my other spare engine to use the main casings, on this engine im stripping it also dropped a valve, the bottom end on these engines are strong, iv not measured anything yet but just from inspection it looks like its only damaged the piston, and head, so you might get lucky and get away with replacing piston and head, my next video is cylinder removal on my spare engine so stay tuned
How many mile is on this engine ?
Oops sorry should have read the comments 50,000 m
Great videos thanks
50,000miles, so far im very happy with the engine, im mostly stripping engine because its a spare engine and just wanted to show people my engine being dismantled so i can refurb the paint work and measure and inspect components for wear, so far im very happy with the engineering of this engine, thanks for watching
@@Tattytyres really enjoying the videos thanks
