These types of songs were what thew the world into a frenzy when he first came out. Guy was weird, wacky and said a lot of shit no one else was saying. On top of that there were also deep underlying messages underneat all the insane, plus he had those songs you could vibe too, relate too. It was interesting and the dudes been super interesting throughout his career. And growing up back then and hearing people that probably werent even around back then claiming hes shit or he only became famous because he is white are just annoying as fuck. One of the most fire beats ever. The word play on this track is nuts.
It's funny because a lot of the individuals that do not like Eminem, are usually newbies that don't really have a clue about like what Eminem really is all about or the fact that he is white in a black sport.
Eminem literally does every single song that you can possibly think of and all different kinds of ways in any way you want it from any genre sounding way. He does what alot of rappers have been doing for years and did it better then so many that have come and gone. The hate is also because no one wants Eminem to be the top cuz they want a black person to be on top at all times. Times have changed and those beliefs don't really matter at this point, so long as we know the history, Eminem is the Goat Forever. He paid his dues and has kept the culture alive in his own way. People want a bop they can dance to. This is for lyricist and people dedicated to the craft. Its all pretty weak and mostly insecurities about what sounds good and they love their version of music they listen to. Ironic that Em did that too already. The Stans are a bit much and he does have his flaws but he isn't technically a bad person. Struggled too and spent time worshipping the greats more than himself. Its pretty sad when you see what comment come up and no one can give a great reason to hate on Em. The other F bomb i can do without but other then that, he go at everyone. No bias. I was almost 15 when his first album came out nationwide. The second I heard his song, hi, my name is, it was over for me and everyone. He gave us a voice. He allowed us to feel like we could vocalize our anger and frustration. We finally had a voice that looked like us, who said what we were thinking in our heads, and that we could physically show.
And really because we are now, mostly in our late 30s, have given the way to the generation behind us to be as comfortable as being vocal as y’all are, even if you’re wrong sometimes.
Edit: before it was, 90’s grunge bands, 80s, Pop, and the few hip-hop artist punctured in between. I grew up, listening to a tribe, called quest, and then Eminem, which opened up to OutKast and Wu-Tang and 2Pac, Talib kwali, and so many more.
He means everything to us.
The "hit the trees harder than Sunny Bono" is my favorite bar from this song. It's a doube entendre of the word tree. Sunny Bono died after a skiing accident where he quite literally hit a tree himself.
The OJ scheme went straight past y'all lol! That's the only problem with young generations reacting to Eminem, he uses a lot of pop culture references from the 90's until recent era and if you were alive during the era it hits so much harder.

Easiest way to put EM. He has all the tools of rap... styles, cadences, rhyme patterns, real life songs, stunting songs, funny songs, sick songs, story telling (whether real or made up) you name it, he has a check mark next to it. I'm 41 I've seen rap/ hiphop since its roots. There will never be another artist like EM. Plain and simple. I'm not no crazy Stan, sure he has songs I dislike, but for every song I dislike there's 30 others I love. To each there own, on what your preferences are. But never judge a book by it's cover. If you go through his 400 plus tracks and can't find something that touches you in one way or another. You seriously need help.

The people that don't like Em is because they like Slim Shady. They want Slim Shady not Eminem. His first 2 albums and the 1st D12 album was basically his best work from those rage days. After that Em got a bit mellow and his tone got more "whiny". Then later in his career he started doing pop-fusion collabs and started singing his hooks more and the raps weren't as hard as the Slim Shady days.
People have a desire for RAW energy and bars. Tupac was raw and may have not been the best lyrically but when he spoke he commanded attention, you can't replicate that in the studio, you either have it or you don't.
I am one of these people, I don't like Em now, but I grew up with his first 2 albums which made me Stan for him a little bit before I saw him go down a artistic direction I no longer liked.
I like that gully Hip Hop with bars, puns and punchlines. Not cheesy motivational music like "I am not afraaaaaid"...shit was corny af, even for Em's standards.
It was around the time Proof got shot and died is when you saw a visceral change in Em, like his whole chakras got realigned and became a completely different person. Which is understandable since Proof was his childhood friend back in Detroit. He also did most of the funny sound effects on his albums as well gave Em inspiration for some of his bars. Em truly respect Proof as a MC and a friend, so when he lost him he lost a part of himself too.

The shit he throws at Canibus, "I'm cancerous, you wouldn't want to answer back with a battle rap you wrote for Canibus" = not only does Canibus write his battle raps instead of coming off the top, he needs someone else to write them, and even than Eminem is better off the dome than the stuff Canibus got someone else to write for him. Ouch. Hard as hell.
People either love or hate Em - have since the early 2000s. Most of the people who hate him haven't heard much of his stuff. They think he's all shock, all horrorcore, all fast rapping, all complex bars, all poppy mainstream or whatever they choose to hate on. Wish they'd take the time to listen to songs like Difficult then they might check out some of his other album stuff instead of basing their opinions on the singles that are MEANT to catch the attention of everybody and might seem corny to people who like hip hop in general.
I'm sure you missed this since you didn't stop and I doubt you know, but he took several shots at an underground rapper named Cage in this song - they were beefing before Em hit big, saying Em bit his style. Another at Cannabis - same deal, before he blew up. He thought Em ghost wrote LL Cool J's diss track against him and wouldn't let it go even when Em denied it.
Cage kind of fades away, but there are a LOT of references to Cannabis through his discography. You might have done Can-i-Bitch or Square Dance already. This started in the late 90s and I think (not positive) Cannabis dropped a diss track as recently as a few years ago. I know for a fact that Em mentioned Cannabis on a guest verse on Conway the Machine's song...Bang I think? It was really recent maybe two to three years ago. Something along the lines of, 'I remember when I smoked Cannabis, it sucked to hand him his ass because I really was a fan of his'. It kinda sucks because Cannabis is actually good, probably the most similar to Em of all of the people he's had beef with IMO - if they'd gone at it full on it would have been a wild show of lyricism. It'd be even better if they could have collabed but I don't think it'll ever be resolved. Em is now Em and Cannabis remains famous underground from what I know. I've just updated your Eminem beef knowledge pool if you didn't already know!
Actually here's a list of some of the beefs Em has been involved in - not close to a full one but many of the major ones up until 2018 if you're interested.
