Hey Chris i know this is late but what cultivar of mango tree is that right behind you...im thinking it looks like the Juliette tree in one of your videos...i tried juliette in 2021 and i loved it...if i guessed right is it usually that productive for you every year?

I had some VERY large sweet tart mangoes this year. Largest was 20.1 oz or 570 grams! All very tasty, and good shippers since you pick them before totally ripe. I don’t like them when the tart stage is over, however. WAY too sweet at that point. I do like that they are not super colorful or aromatic on the tree - not as much of a rodent-magnet that way.

he mentions if K3 is polyembryonic; other than the seed producing a certain characteristic in a tree, does the polyembyonic influence its flavor?

    • @lolshatter

polyembryonic seeds will have 3 trees inside, 2 seedlings and 1 clone

@@lolshatter, thank you. The fruit where it came from shouldnt be influenced?

Having a poly seed wont effect flavor, they sometimes effect seed to fruit ratio, since poly seeds are sometimes larger than mono, but I have seen mono seeds that are large, and poly seeds that are pretty small. some of the new Zill creations have polyembryonic seeds. the main advantage of these are, that there is a good chance that planting the seed will be true to parent. for example, Nam Doc Mai. Poly seeds are usually used for rootstock. because since they will have identical characteristics, you know what to expect in terms of growth, another example being the mango called turpentine, which is used a lot in Fla. for rootstock.
