The beautiful thing about the "game show" side of YT huh? Like I just typed in a prior comment I THINK I remember this show on WOR but not certain. I know there is/was another version on BET but I wonder if this version ever aired on CBN/Family Channel...can't place it but I remember seeing it somewhere before YT I just can't remember the channel
@@Amisbro new episodes aired everyday on BET from 1991-92 hosted by Spencer Christian from Good Morning America. They were playing for points winning prizes.
Thanks for the info. “Triple Threat” was on Sunday nights at 10:30PM on WPIX-TV (channel 11) and later moved to WWOR-TV (channel 9) at 11:30AM. No wonder this show lasted for just one season.
Johnny Gilbert was the announcer for the pilot, but because Gilbert is doing Love Connection for the 1988-89 season, Sam Riddle took the announcer's position instead of Gilbert.

dodinewell, since you mentioned that your dad's a contestant in this here episode, i will automatically root for him. Maybe I shouldn't be so biased, but what the heck, huh? As of this comment, I haven't seen the outcome yet. So, as unnecessary as it may seem because you know what the outcome is and I don't, wish him luck.
Jim Lange's finest hour outside of The Dating Game. Since he was a radio personality before he went on to greater fame as a game show host, his music background to that end made him an ideal host. If not for the facts that a) it only aired weekly and b) straight quizzes, entertainment background or not, were on their way out save for J! for 1988, this could have lasted a lot longer than it did. I love the concept of the Three for All round which meant no match was over until it was over, exactly what a straight quiz should be. About 10 years later this was revived for a season or so on BET, with Spencer Christian as host. Not many people talk about that version, but I watched the holy heck out of it (it didn't hurt that the Christian era aired on weeknights and had a killer theme) and IMO it was a worthy revival.

I was wondering about that cos I kind or remember seeing this show and part of me thought about WOR (which we got here in South Jersey) and I half remembered this show but I wasn't 100% certain I THINK also our Channel 9 at one time showed Cubs games but I could be wrong about that too...anyways its always interesting to go see some of these shows from back in the day (I was 7 around this time...yikes) and try to place if I ever watched it. I THINK I saw this one but not sure
I think the first few weeks of Triple Threat aired on WPIX CHannel 11 in NYC on Sunday evenings, then moved to Sunday mornings on WOR, and it aired Philly on WPHL on Sunday nights IIRC, and in Pittsburgh on WPXI on Sunday late nights.
James Greek Right on and also, both themes were composed by the late Jack Elliot who also did the theme to Charlie's Angels Barney Miller and Night Court are funny

RIP Jim Lange! (1932 - 2014)!
Thank you for posting this. Never saw this game show before!

KABC Memories in da house!! I remember the FGS and Sunrise Ford commercials very well. Thanks for the upload.
thanks Keith!
Here in NY, it originally aired Sundays at 10:30 PM on WPIX, but around midseason it moved to WWOR, which also aired it Sundays, but at 11:30 AM.

@@Musicradio77Network - There are other reasons too besides the curse of syndicated television. **cough*WheelOfFortune*cough*OprahWinfrey*cough**
I used 2 love this game show
I was in college in Springfield, MO when this was on, and I don't remember this show at all.
What in blue blazes is Jim Lange saying at 23:48?
Nice set.
I did some research and there was an earthquake that hit Pasadena, California on December 3, 1988 so I believe this episode aired around that time.
I wish this show can be revived
I wish MY DAD could be revived!!!! Miss him a lot!!! ;-)
I wish my mom could be revived. As well as Jim Lange. I know how tough it is to lose a parent.
Yeh!!! I lost my mom, my dad and my stepmom all within a 3 year period. VERY DIFFICULT!
I lost my father 10 years ago.
I lost my mother nine years ago
This was a good show, it should've lasted longer.
Dan Barker It did make a return to BET in 1993.
@@drummingdanny84 How long did that show last?
i watched this show.
Pretty good game show. It's gone but Wheel of Fortune is still going strong? YIKES!!!!!

The cat in the Amore commercial looks like one of my old cats.
1988 game show
I knew it was on Saturday nights on Channel 13 WTHR locally.
Yacky yak not is Herman hermits song
I would've gotten all the Wizard Of Oz questions correct.
Was Triple Threat taped on the same stage where the original version of Star Search was taped?
Mrs Partridge vs Mrs Cunningham
This aired on November 20, 1988, as per a search of the earthquake hitting in 1988.
Thank you. If I can, I will add that to the tags
I can't figure out how to edit the video.
Added the date tag! Figured it out LOL.
I couldn’t find it in the LA Times Sunday TV Times listing. What time was it on?
Wasn't this taped in the same studio as Star Search?
Yes, but it really wasn't a studio. It was the Aquarius Theatre.
Was this game show filmed at CBS Television City? It looks that way to me

Night Court and Barney Miller are from the same producers

Sam Riddle, who also announced "Star Search" around this time. (In fact, this was taped in the same studio as "Star Search".)

Did get all 9.
Nope. They thought The Coasters' Yakety Yak was by Herman's Hermit instead of Mrs. Brown You've Got A Lovely Daughter.
Quick question which one was out of place
Yackety Yak by Herman's Hermits. it was (sorry for this racist common) by a black group.
Nothing racist about that. My comment below mentions that The Coasters sang Yakety Yak. Good song by them along with the Charlie Brown song.
