I still can’t help but love the noisy little guys. There are definitely benefits to keeping them (they devour all the ticks and all the other bugs) but people should be aware of the noise before getting them. I watched a video about letting chickens raise keats which was super interesting - it made the guineas act more like chickens bc they thought they were chickens! They were much calmer and less noisy this way.
Just got a breeding pair of Guineas today. Since hubby wont let me have a cat to control mice around the farm, I bought Guineas. They can take care of the tick problem too.
hahaha.... I think they're hilarious! Great little guard birds & absolutely fun to watch! Thanks for posting. I seriously wish I could own a few in my suburban neighborhood. .. but the neighbors would hate me! lol
SAME! I live in Western PA.. the ticks here are BAD! I would love to get some guineas. But yeah, my neighbors would not be very happy with me. And they walk out onto roads and stuff like they own the whole neighborhood (although we already have that issue with the wild turkeys)
I have 3 of them with our 13 chickens...they make some noise, but not all the time....I hardly ever her them make noise when roosting. They are pretty cool, and I have seen no evidence of mice or rats around since I have gotten them.
I have 3. They are mostly quiet unless there is a predator close by then they go into full alert. When they alarm, my German Shepherd responds quickly. Most of the time it is a stray dog or coyote. Honestly my ducks are more obnoxious and loud.
My parents had Guineas and we loved them ours was very friendly and yes great watch dogs. They are absolutely beautiful and was never a problem ours would let us pet them ❤
Pot rack pot rack pot rack forever and ever and never amen around my place! Music to my ears! As long as the guineas are in crisis mode all is well! If they ever got quiet I would become a concerned citizen at that point! Lol! Long may they holler and give chase to each other!
+wanzueni Me too! Miss having chickens, fresh eggs, but don't miss the smell of wet feathers come time to put some on the table or in the freezer. Every farm had some guineas, they're a great alarm system & they stay close to home. Blessings!
Grew up listening to this sound at my grandmas. I think roosters can be more annoying than this and chickens don't eat all those nasty lyme carrying ticks. Thanks but I'll keep my gineas.
Makes me miss mine. Mine were a lot louder, but it was fine. They would carry on like that whenever there were intruders. They were more reliable than the dogs on letting us know about people being near our fenceline or coming in to our yard. Too bad our current dogs would probably kill them.
Anyone thinking about getting guineas, needs to think about their neighbors. I lived peacefully for 17 years in my house, before my ignorant neighbor decided he wanted a flock of guineas. Now, every day at 2:30 or 3:00, the screaming starts. Nobody within 1/2 mile can sleep when these nuisance birds start calling. You may be cool with the noise, but your neighbors will likely not see it that way. These birds need to be eradicated, they are a scourge to urban living, and should only be raised if you can ensure they will not destroy your neighbors quality of living. Be considerate!!!
There’s nothing like having Guineas. I have eight , two purl , two black and white poky dots and two with some white patches on there breast., two males and six females. Thought I had pairs but when I got six eggs I knew something was up . So the flair waddles are not the sign it’s the crown on the head . But one pair I have is my Most Favorite There are Royal Purple Guineas. Just down right beautiful. And those beautiful babies have given me so far I have only 86 eggs in the incubator and 6 more out in the pen they laid today. And 5 that has hatched. Yes I know all won’t be hatching but I can say what does I will be Guinea poor . Lol
anyone had problems with fighting at 9 weeks of age? The one that does the buckwheat sound is always fighting at this young age!!!! WTF! They draw blood, I never had an issue until they were older, and only with the male's!!
My neighbor got them and they are running wild in the neighborhood. My small dog is in a pen and is not a barker but now never stops. They are under our windows before it gets light in the morning screeching. I hate the darn things.
I'd rather lister to guinea fowl and the soothing noise of barnyard fowl and animals than city traffic any day!!

Tara S that is pretty fascinating.
These are ordinary guinea sounds. When they really want they can pull up something from the depths of hell.
i have 6 guineas, 5 ducks, and 3 roosters, life is loud and tick-free
This is kylie on Brandons account, I have 6 guineas , 4 pekin ducks, all have some chickens by spring, thats awsome, we have a real tick problem,
This is EXACTLY why I want them lol. That and their other benefits

I like that mice eradication report! We are LOADED on mice!
So they get rid of mice 2 they say they keep snakes out also
All they were saying was how cold the ground was
They look so cuuuuuute !!

They are adorable, not annoying
Love the mini po inspector at the end! 😂
Perfect I have two legged rats coming around, doesn't have to be shiny just not nailed down, GONE!
They are great!!! Let you know when someone or something is outside.
Sounds like the women on "The View".
one of the best posts I've seen on YT
If the ladies on the view were only as smart!
My parents had Guineas and we loved them ours was very friendly and yes great watch dogs. They are absolutely beautiful and was never a problem ours would let us pet them ❤

machc1234golf good for you. I don't like broccoli
Search and destroy the snakes
Beats the sound of traffic.
My tukeys, geese & ducks go into panic whenever my guineas raise the alarm sound
Reminds me of my co.worker we used to have
Makes me want them even more!
What do guinea fowl taste like on the BBQ?
How do you cook the eggs?

come back! come back, come back come back!
Love em😂 even the sound..cutely irritating 😃👍
I hear that guinea fowl is also very good meat. So if you can't stand the noise, serve em up with biscuits!
They sound like turkeys that have been smoking cigarettes all their lives.
nature's alarm
Yep, still want one!
They sound more pleasant than roosters to me.
Some folks I know that live in the country have one I call "guinea Rogers"...
Too cute ! Thanks
That first one to start the flock sqwaking and not to mention reading the words, lol I was laughing so hard
the place is cold for them..pretty tough birds though
I live in front of a park where a whole flock of monk parakeets make their nests. This would actually be an improvement.
Come out to the ranch for a little peace and quie. . . Well, it's peaceful enough anyway.
adorable!
We live by a lot of forest and swamp and had a dozen for years. Horribly obnoxious birds but we never had any ticks.
I have guinea fowls and I love them. I prefer them over chickens.
This makes me want guineas more
LOL what they were saying was AWW HAIL NAW who is that cat 📣📣📣🔊🔊🔊
mine won't leave the barn long. I feed them meal worms all day.
They are also scaring off any stray cats that are thinking of making a home on your farm.
nah that horse was gonna kick the shit outta the white one at 2:35
This is funny lol
"Kokwak kokwak kokwak"
female guineas
you want to hear something, get some peacocks. they are way much louder.
We had both peacocks and guineas. Both were noisy - guineas squawked more often; peacocks not as often but the loudest.
What a hoot!
How many ya'll got? I have 13 well used to 16 buuuuuttttt
Guinea fowl do make good watch dogs
Yes, they do!!!

Hopefully he will get many more animals.

Those poor dogs. Have to put up with that noice 24/7. It must be so annoying to their sensitive hearing.

Feona Lee Jones Day and Night. They don't have a particular time for a cacaphony

My neighbor got them and they are running wild in the neighborhood. My small dog is in a pen and is not a barker but now never stops. They are under our windows before it gets light in the morning screeching. I hate the darn things.
Interesting how they follow instinct, in the wild they follow groups of animals to get insects from the dung.
I am PN RAM from Ballia Dist UP I want to perches ginea foul please help to perchesh
Teeheeheeheee
Just feed them some WD-40.
Chickens are much more annoying
My neighbors guineas destroyed the paint job on my brand new Camaro . As a side note - guineas taste like shit and so did the peacocks .
People are more annoying than this
Agreed. We had them as a child and they were so noisy (and in my opinion, ugly). I could not stand their squawking.
I had a pair of Guinea fowls. They were the noisiest pet I've ever had and nuisance for the poor chicken. Thank goodness they are dead now
