I already know this but I'm surprised that metal can survive a really hot magma substance.

That reminded me of the old physic question about what happens if an unstoppable force meets an immovable object.
A: Nothing, they will pass through each other and remain unchanged.
In fact, such situation is logically impossible, as an immovable object cannot exist if there's an unstoppable force(since nothing will be immovable by that force). Likewise, an unstoppable force cannot coexist with an immovable object, as the very existence of it makes the force stoppable(by that object).

This had everything I was and was not expecting. I did not imagine it just running off the first time. The second time I thought it would explode but it was still molten in the center and faked me out then to finally watch it snap and explode the third time was like nerd ASMR. After a month of watching La Palma's Cumbre Veja erupt this was pretty cool to see. Please try liquid nitrogen and lava vs shredder from height. "SAFETY FIRST"

Lava temperature is about 1500F, melting point of steel is about 2500F.
Maybe forge a sword with lava!
Many people did it and it just makes a really bad sword that shatters
Lava rock is mostly silicone. When it is already low temperature(relatively, being heated in a crucible, instead of the hell fires of Earth), and cooled fast like this, it turns into obsidian. The end product is essentially glass that has about 20-35% other mineral impurities. You could conceivably make a knife with it, and some cultures have, from found obsidian, as it is stronger than pure silicone glass.
A sword might be a bit impractical as it would probably break in two, even striking flesh, just like a thin rod of stone would probably break if subjected to too much shock. The Aztecs actually had a very deadly obsidian alternative to a sword, called a macuahuitl. This is something that resembles a wooden cricket bat, with sharp obsidian bits all around the edge, like flat, miniature cleavers. I saw this weapon tested on a show on a hanging pig carcass. A strong swing could cleave about half of the way into the pig. The obsidian would get damaged and dislodged in battle, but it might be functional for a good dozen whacks, which, if there are 20,000 of you hacking away, was enough to get the job done, and then, you've still got a cricket bat. This weapon can decapitate heads and dismember limbs. It was sometimes used as an executioner's axe. The conquistador Hernan Cortes wrote an account of one being used to decapitate a horse.
Boy at the lava is at 2000° or over that I thought for sure is going to melt the shredding blades right away but it didn't. Boy that's hard steel for the shredding blades to withstand the temperature of lava like that. Thank you! That was a good one. I enjoyed it😮👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
