I'm 68 and been doing Keto and Canavore for 5 years now. Lost 65 LBS. Normal wait now and doing intermittent fasting 2 times a week. No more joint pain. Reverse type 2 diabetes. A1C is below 5.7. I feel better at 68 then I did at 40. I think I'll go out at 4 to 5pm at a local steak house and order a medium rare steak and only a steak, with lemon water and no dessert. I like the look on the waitress face when she says. Just the steak, that's all your eating? Yes, that's it. 😊 Thanks to the many carrying Dr. On the internet. Like you.

Thanks for the great information!! I've gone full circle of very low animal protein for years to being fully carnivore now and have seen dramatic improvements at the age of 65. No more sarcopenia and no more osteoporosis!!!
Wonderful lecture. I'm a 73 year-old female. I had a hip replacement last February. I wasn't able to exercise a month before and three months after but I was eating lots of protein upon the advice of my son. It felt good to hear your advice, knowing that I did the right thing by eating a lot of protein. I did gain weight because I was also eating carbs for comfort. But I am sure I will lose the extra weight now that I am exercising again. Thanks so very much for sharing. I enjoyed the talk very much.❤
I am 65 and am doing carnivore. However, my husband is nearly 72 and eats very little protein. I keep trying to get him to eat more, it's difficult. He still believes that too many eggs will clog his arteries and will only eat 2 on Sunday mornings, that's it. He sits in his chair watching tv all day, does very little around our little farm. I am afraid how he is going to end up.

Not a fan of animal meats, but I am learning ways I like it, because this is going to fix it all! All I needed to know was how important it was...instead of being lied to!!!!

I have a very good experienced nurse friend who is very active and athletic. She believes in the SAD and eats 60% carbs and because of her extreme activity level she can do that. She thinks I'm crazy to be ketovore. Even though I've lost weight, increased strength and am healthier than I've been in decades at 63.
I imagined if I had these two as my parents or grandparents and coming over for dinner, it would be a fantastic meal, and the knowledge you would gain immeasurable

When they say strength training, what older people (especially) need is the Slow Burn approach. Use a weight that is heavy enough that you can’t perform the exercises beyond 60-90 SECONDS when you do them really slowly, I mean REALLY slowly, taking three seconds to move the first inch and continuing at that pace. It’s really hard. You will be huffing and puffing. And do it ONLY twice a week. Research it. 😊 💪🏼
I too have the cassettes and books from the original Protein Power! It worked for me in the 90s and after a couple of years I fell away. Queue a pandemic and my husband and I have been right back at it and have eliminated all medications, and creeping closer to goal weights and health. So wonderful to see the Dr Eades again! Like an evening with old friends 😊

What if you're NOT hungry? Should you "force" yourself to eat anyway? I've been Ketovore (mostly Carnivore) since 7-1-23. I eat mostly OMAD but, NOT intentionally because I don't have a vast appetite. I am eating when hungry and Stop when full. Very rarely do I have more than OMAD. I've lost a much needed 27.6 lbs and need about another 25. I'm no longer in the obese category. I am 5'3, 62 yrs old and a BC survivor. I feel amazing!!!
The problem for a lot of people older than 60, particularly women, is that they eat too little protein. So, yes, try to work to the proper target (1 gram of protein per lb of your goal weight) slowly so your body adapts. You may need to have 2 or 3 meals a day. I suggest stews or even protein shakes (from good quality animal source) if you have difficulty meeting your daily protein targets. And add some resistance training (can be with just elastic bands) 3 times a week so that you build your muscle. If you do this, take your measurements instead of weighing yourself because muscle and bone are heavier than fat. You may lose inches but not weight
I watched an interesting video by the Carbohydrate addict doctor, Dr. Cywes and his patient had very elevated cholesterol on a OMAD mostly carnivore diet He also had elevated triglycerides and other risk factors. Dr. Cywes told him to start eating 3 meals per day and smaller amounts at each meal. The problem was that his body couldn't digest all that food at one sitting properly and caused the elevated risk factors. You may want to get your blood work done to see if your body can handle that. The patient started eating 3 meals per day and his cholesterol dropped down to normal along with all the other risk factors.
That was a great informative video. Thank you! It will help me during my transition to a carnivore diet with a few safe vegetables. Already feel much better after my first five days. Years of digestive problems have already been 90-95% solved. Failed regular Keto diet several times. Love fish, turkey, bacon, beef and just about any other protein. Not sure about eggs yet since I used to have problems digesting them. Celiac diagnosed 20 years ago, yet being gluten free was not enough to make me feel better. Retired now, so lots of time to learn about protein, fats - don’t mind them at all.

Amy Berger......Toward the end about 104 minutes Dr Mike Eade mentions a book Eats.... I could not uderstand what he said and the cc didn't get it eather. What was the name of the book. Has to do with why we should eat meat I think... help
I’ve got the B-Strong system & will start using it with resistance bands. Allows you to get more but only using 1/3 weight. Would be good for weaker folks just starting out, deceases muscle soreness & fatigue recovery so can do back to back days too.
A few weeks ago I started eating meat.. I had not eaten red meat for over 35 years. I’m moving toward carnivore…I’m 75 and I know how important it is to build muscle… fortunately I love ❤️ to exercise…
I remember their excellent book. I heard they have another book coming soon. I will be getting it based on my positive experience with Protein Power. A subsequent edition of Protein Power advocated Splenda. I would be interested to know their current views on Splenda. It seems allulose is the new star of the sugar substitute field.
I needed this information… I’ve been vegetarian for 35 or more years.. I never felt I was getting enough protein.. but I was told all vegetables have protein so I never counted protein…. My weight is ideal but I’m having a hard time building muscle.. I started to go to the Gym in January…over 4 months ago so I’m thinking it’s because I need more protein…
There are many elderly women that have trouble eating enough, so those recommendations of the shakes are particularly for them. At least one shake a day may complement their 2 other meals of the day
@@nataliajimenez1870 , I still think an extra hamburger or can of sardines is a much better option for the extra protein than a protein shake. Food is more absorbable than powder in a shake.
@@nataliajimenez1870good point, several of the elderly people in my life have greatly benefited from a protein shake which they would take, even when they couldn’t tolerate any more meat.
Question if you are lean and want to build muscle, also loose belly fat around the organs, if you fast and rely on ketones body fat as fuel can this turn to muscle
Now that clean beef is $10-16 a lb. I'll get book and highlighters. Nearly in a chair 98%. Need short term jump start. Muscle wasting. Can we take a 100% sprouted 'ancient' grains. Also frozen 1 to 1 X which lower glycemic index and toasted which also lowers glycemic index. Is there any good science on soy as a absorbable useful protein?
I have been burping since doing mostly carnivore keto. I think the fat is doing it? Always been cautious of fat. Also bad stomache after an hr or so after eating.
When I worked in a kindergarden for a week there used to be this very small kid, who always ate food he braucht from home. One day I asked why and was told that he was raised vegan. At the time I was very interested in the vegan diet, but would never have thought about raising a child on it. Now as an adult (I was 15 back then) I can’t believe the irresponsibility of the parents, how can they not have had any knowledge about essential molecules and bioresorptionlevel (struggling to find the common word)? I mean that they should have asked a few experts and read a lot themselves before risking the health of their own child. I guess he is a very small teenager now.
Im over here cooking steak and eggs wondering halfway through “What’s wrong with my internet?” As I patiently wait for the couple to unfreeze and didn’t notice the whole time I could’ve skipped😅
Added legumes and nuts and that fixed the signs for me. Beans are awesome, it increased my weigh loss because I’m not hungry for a LONG time after I eat them
Hi Dr ERic I am finding the recommendations for parkinsons is to lower protein...but I can not see how this makes any sense. All our amino acids are in protein. ???? thoughts??

INCREDIBLE VIDEO. MY TYPE 1 DIABETIC TEEN HAS BEEN CARNIVORE SINCE 2019 after I took 3 years to make sure it was safe for her. She is now 16 and has real questions about the safety & what she should eat moving forward based on her own thinking. ♥️
Can you tell me how to answer the question, of a Type 1 Diabetic from childhood, about how to avoid ketoacidosis. He has said he could never do keto as he would end up poisoning his body. It doesn’t make sense to me: what would be he thinking? Likely a grain of truth in there somewhere? Thank you!
Dr. Eades and his wife Mary look supremely better and healthier than Dr. McDougall and his wife Mary! I think they're about the same age range. Looking at them is all I need to know whose advice I'm following! 🙂
At about the 59th minute Mart they talk about acid reflux in the sphincter muscle well if you want to close them up so the acid can work in your stomach to digest your food just open two capsules of acidophilus and empty them into your mouth and wash them down with just a little tiny bit of water. They will close your sprinter muscles. And your acid reflux will go away and you can go back to bed if you don’t have capsules, just chew the tablets. They must have billions of colonies of bacteria in the acidophilus not millions but billions and it will close your specters up and heal you up. Never take Nexium Prilosec anything like that ever I will give you thyroid cancer and esophagus cancer.
"1 gram per pound" math results in less protein than "1 gram per kilogram". The difference is huge: 1 pound = 0.454kg That means, if you calc according to pound, you will end up with less than half the amount of protein intake vs per kg of bodyweight
@@genomedia44 If your weight is 100 pounds, which equals 45 kilos, how do you get less with 1 gram per pound than 1 gram per kilo? It's the other way around.
Maybe their kidneys are ok but body builders tend to age rapidly. There are star body builders who are in their 20s who have faces that appear to be 45. Also, a number have died young. It’s could be that that consume high amounts of very lean protein. Also, the practice of cutting to prepare for competition is unhealthy.
For more than 30 minutes both have been repeating the same info that we need proteins. We have understood. Why don't they give us the list of food that contain high proteins at first, and the scientific info after?
I dont agree with we only need protein ..How many ppl do we know whose bodys are gonna start eating their lean muscle mass.....if we are chasing macros 80% fat 20% protein .I do believe in prioritizing protein
Boy, never knew protein deficiency was a national epidemic ! ! The hospitals are full of protein deficient patients ! ! I guess that's worse than being one of the 93,000 people on the kidney transplant list. Not too worry, excess protein has no downside . . .
My understanding is that there is one way to eat too much protein: consuming only lean meat and/or processed plant proteins. This is referred to as protein poisoning or rabbit starvation. If one eats the fat that naturally comes with beef, lamb, goat, etc. it should not be a problem. Some wild game and rabbits have meat that’s too lean. Also a pure chicken and turkey breast diet would be too lean and very annoying to consume. Most plant protein is accompanied by carbs, and most animal protein as accompanied by fats, so protein poisoning is seldom a concern.
Wikipedia in Protein Power: Nutritionists Fredrick J. Stare and Elizabeth Whelan criticized the diet as "too lopsided to be healthful" and the Eades for assembling their own "facts" into an "antiscience hypothesis".[4] They noted that "At a time when many years of scientific research are beginning to establish the unequivocal association between plant foods and disease prevention, it strikes us as unconscionable for two medical doctors to be striking out in the opposite direction."[4] 😂 There's worse stuff there!!!
The source must be considered. Fredrick John Stare (April 11, 1910 - April 4, 2002) rejected the idea that 'the American diet' was harmful; stating for example that Coca-Cola was "a healthy between-meals snack"[1] and that eating even great amounts of sugar would not cause health problems.[3][4] He was also a leading campaigner for the fluoridation, which his critics suggested was part and parcel of his endorsement of sugar. In his autobiography, Adventures in Nutrition, Stare states that in 1960 he obtained a grant of $1,026,000 from General Foods for the "expansion of the School’s Nutrition Research Laboratories" and that in the 44-year period as a nutritionist he raised a total of $29,630,347.[7] For instance, Kellogg's funded $2 million to set up the Nutrition Foundation at Harvard. Elizabeth M. Whelan (/ˈhwiːlən/; December 4, 1943 - September 11, 2014) was an American epidemiologist best known for promoting science that was favorable to industry and for challenging government regulations of consumer products, food, and pharmaceuticals industries... She worked to promote industry-friendly science and to suppress the influence of other science on regulators, and was condemned by activists for promoting industry interests, for example with respect to pesticides, growth hormones for dairy cows (rBST), PCBs, hydraulic fracturing, and the proposed limit on soda sizes in New York City.
How important is the difference between animal & veg protein? keto advocates claim only animal protein is sufficient. However, Chris Gardner makes a counter argument--& he is compelling. Wonder if these guys even know what they're talking about in the gestalt of things. They're all so sure of themselves, but history makes fools of them. Probably best to listen to your mama who posseses the wisdom of the ages.
If you had bothered to listen to the whole talk they clearly explain that plant proteins don't have the complete set of essential amino acids, that's why you have to make sure you combine your plant sources so that you are eating the complete set. Also they mention how the nutritional analysis of proteins over count the proteins in plants because it includes nitrogen compounds that are not proteins. So you have to eat more plants to be able to get the equivalent amount of protein from animal sources. Drs. Eade (and Dr Westman) are medical doctors that have actually reversed diabetes for thousands of patients. Chris Gardner is a professor doing statistical analysis that has never cured a patient in his life since he's not a medical doctor
@@nataliajimenez1870 Don't start your post with a rude & judgmental comment. What's up with that?! This time, I will assume that you were in some way trying to be helpful. For your edification, Gardner is an expert in nutrition. His Ph.D. is specifically in nutrition science. He is acknowledged by the world to be such via the esteemed position he holds at Stanford. Michael Eades' educational background by contrast, is in civil engineering & family medicine (owns a chain of them?). Beyond that, Gardner is a vegetarian. A vegetarian diet can also put diabetes into remission & remit obesity & metabolic syndrome. They seem to generally believe that animal fat causes the problems attributed to carbs by keto proponents. It cannot be true that vegetarianism must be so intricately calculated by that fact that it is the primary diet of the Hindu population in India, for example (sacred cow). Just as carbs cannot be the source of all disease judging by that fact that most of the world subsists on diets of primarily rice. Regarding amino acids, I have to look back at Gardner. I thought he said it is more about the variety of plants vs quantity to insure sufficient required amino acids. Beyond that, medicine is in its infancy & has much innocent blood (& grave robbing) on its hands.
@@mariad1151if you watch Dr Michael Eades "Paleopathology and the Origins of the Low carb diet " it makes sense. Evolution and anthropology teaches us more than any modern day industry funded nutritionist.
@@mariad1151as far as I know the Indian kitchen, they use plants but only for the taste of food. It's cooked till almost no nutrition is left. They eat a lot of eggs, chicken, fish and other animals! Maybe we should look at the health of them as well.

I've always liked the Dr.'s Eades. I had their Protein Power book and even bought their kit they used to have.
That you so much for sharing your important info because there are so many arguments about what’s really good for your body
Amy Berger......Toward the end about 104 minutes Dr Mike Eade mentions a book Eats.... I could not uderstand what he said and the cc didn't get it eather. What was the name of the book. Has to do with why we should eat meat I think... help
The Vegetarian Myth by Lierre Keith
Why is it that other doctors tell us that we need less protein as we age?
I’ve got the B-Strong system & will start using it with resistance bands. Allows you to get more but only using 1/3 weight. Would be good for weaker folks just starting out, deceases muscle soreness & fatigue recovery so can do back to back days too.
A few weeks ago I started eating meat.. I had not eaten red meat for over 35 years. I’m moving toward carnivore…I’m 75 and I know how important it is to build muscle… fortunately I love ❤️ to exercise…
Beautiful information🙏
Review transcript here: adaptyourlifeacademy.com/medical-issues/eight-signs-you-need-more-protein/
I’m born in 1980 and 43 years old so it must be closer to 40 years Drs Eads have been teaching this?
I love the Eades ❤💯
I was gonna do a protein shake way protein shake, but I didn’t like the idea of soy being in it What is a good protein shake I am in the UK and lm 65
I drink goat whey. it tastes fine With just plain water, and it is loaded with protein.
1 oz has 22 g of protein. Recommended by doctor mark hyman.
Whey powder.
Beef proteinpowder and egg yolks
Prime protein, beef is delicious!
Unless you have a problem with eating the right amount of protein, just eat it.
Thanks so much. Very helpful and informative. 💞
If elderly people stuck to a strict keto or carnivore diet they would automatically get enough protein in just the diet without powder supplements.
@@MajesticArtimus you're preaching to the choir. Agree 100%.
@@nataliajimenez1870 add an extra smaller meal of red meat or fish.
Question if you are lean and want to build muscle, also loose belly fat around the organs, if you fast and rely on ketones body fat as fuel can this turn to muscle
Help with eye problems?
I'm loving this but Dr. Mike's mic is quite garbled. I know it's too late to fix it now but I recommend a mic check next time (if you have time). 👍🏻
What’s a good quality protein shake I could get for my Dad who’s in a nursing home? So he doesn’t grab the boost, ensure, etc. they have on hand.
Beef protein and collagen peptides made into shakes have a good amount of protein.
Prime protein is a high quality beef protein, mix with whole milk 30 grams of protein right there, tastes amazing too.
I just received Muscle Feast whey isolate. 0.1 sugar and 0.2 carbohydrate. Vanilla flavor is pretty good. Sweetened with Stevia.
I was distance running with a club of blue zoners when the Eades first book came out. I should have read it, Lol!
Where in this video is the list of the 8 signs?
Thank you!
Hello from East Tx
Would dehydrated meat/jerkey would be better then protein powder, for a small person to eat since it is more concentrated and smaller in volume?
Beans are awesome, it increased my weigh loss because I’m not hungry for a LONG time after I eat them
Can you get a fatty liver from a high protein diet?
Not usually unless it's too lean
No, you can't! You will heal your liver! 😊
What did Dr Mary mean by”once you know how your metabolism works?’
I have the cassettes...and book...
Have the cassettes
thank u
Hi Dr ERic
I am finding the recommendations for parkinsons is to lower protein...but I can not see how this makes any sense.
All our amino acids are in protein.
????
thoughts??
Who is recommending that? Consider the source.
@@jimmckay2337 the official medical health sites. scary stuff. as soon as you say fasting and keto...the drs start shaking their heads...you gotta go vegatarian for parkinsons.....We are on our own.
As a rule of thumb, whatever “they” recommend, do the opposite. 🙂
What are the 8 signs?
I didn't get the title of the book recommended at the end at about the 1:04:30 mark
The Vegetarian Myth by Lierre Keith.
"The prove is in the ribeye"🤣
Timestamps!!!
So what you're saying is I should eat lots of protein 🤔
"1 gram per pound" math results in less protein than "1 gram per kilogram". The difference is huge:
1 pound = 0.454kg
That means, if you calc according to pound, you will end up with less than half the amount of protein intake vs per kg of bodyweight
🤦
@@deliachirilov2986 I'm listening?
@@genomedia44 If your weight is 100 pounds, which equals 45 kilos, how do you get less with 1 gram per pound than 1 gram per kilo? It's the other way around.
@@deliachirilov2986 you're correct, I got it the wrong way around
Oh man Amy, I don't know if the Sydney Powell look was intentional or if leopard print is just back 😜.
Edit: 49:03 there you go! Great work.
I dont agree with we only need protein ..How many ppl do we know whose bodys are gonna start eating their lean muscle mass.....if we are chasing macros 80% fat 20% protein
.I do believe in prioritizing protein
Women seek perfection not necessairly health. A lot of influences from TV to Hollywood to friends.
Women need more iron and whey protein doesn't have a lot of iron, maybe that's why red meat is better 🥩🥓
My skin is wrinkly…
leopard print 😊
Sounds fine. But where is the dokumentation? What tests? Which articles? Sorry - without documentstion, this is just talking - ‘hearsay’.
❤❤❤
Boy, never knew protein deficiency was a national epidemic ! ! The hospitals are full of protein deficient patients ! !
I guess that's worse than being one of the 93,000 people on the kidney transplant list. Not too worry, excess protein has no downside . . .
Great reply. Also the rest of the world doesn’t eat as much protein as we do and yet they live to 100 plus
Dr. Michael's face looks thinner here, no?
My understanding is that there is one way to eat too much protein: consuming only lean meat and/or processed plant proteins.
This is referred to as protein poisoning or rabbit starvation. If one eats the fat that naturally comes with beef, lamb, goat, etc. it should not be a problem. Some wild game and rabbits have meat that’s too lean. Also a pure chicken and turkey breast diet would be too lean and very annoying to consume.
Most plant protein is accompanied by carbs, and most animal protein as accompanied by fats, so protein poisoning is seldom a concern.
Wikipedia in Protein Power:
Nutritionists Fredrick J. Stare and Elizabeth Whelan criticized the diet as "too lopsided to be healthful" and the Eades for assembling their own "facts" into an "antiscience hypothesis".[4] They noted that "At a time when many years of scientific research are beginning to establish the unequivocal association between plant foods and disease prevention, it strikes us as unconscionable for two medical doctors to be striking out in the opposite direction."[4]
😂
There's worse stuff there!!!
This isn't the win you think it is.
@TC-mf1cq I mean Wikipedia has published absolute unscientific nonsense.
Hi Carbs = Fat cattle & gives em ❤disease,lm told
Plant protein is less bioavailable
@@mariad1151as far as I know the Indian kitchen, they use plants but only for the taste of food. It's cooked till almost no nutrition is left. They eat a lot of eggs, chicken, fish and other animals! Maybe we should look at the health of them as well.
