You should have a look at the new options for the Filter Inserters. There's now a "white-list/black-list" setting. Can't way to see some of the creative things the community will do with that!
16:52 the alt-mode is called alt-mode because it is an alternate display AND because the default key to switch back and forth is the ALT hotkey. to not accidentally toggle the mode, and to be able to use the ALT key for combinations on many other functions, i always have redefined that key to something else on the controls settings (second to last line at 12:48) with the new quickbuttons in 0.17, that hotkey even can be disabled completely (rightclick on a hotkey assignment to turn it into "not set") and that quickbutton used instead :-)
No many other people post screen shots and comments on reddit/the forums and have no idea about Alt mode, I was actually shown the game by a friend and the first thing he did was turn on Alt mode lol
@@Hlebuw3k i didn't test this myself, but i read that it is a startup option that has to be selected at/before map generation and thus can't be changed later, and that someone wrote a mod to always enable it so that you won't accidentally start a map without enabling it (which of course will disable steam achievements while local achievements are still possible)
@@Anson_AKB no it will not disable any achivements lol. There is just 3 options of reserch queue: enable from start, enable after finishing the game (default), and disable. Any of those 3 options will not disable any of your achivements
@@Anson_AKB Maybe, but then just get all the achivements first before using the mod. If you are a beginner, you will not even know about mods, or research queue. And if you are a pro, you probably already get all the achivements

just like 0.16.x, also 0.17.x is only "early access" and not the final full 1.0 release, and version 0.xx.0 is always only "experimantal" and no stable version. you also could have read the announcements and/or the release notes and/or the changelog (on steam or in the forums) *_why are you now surprised that it is a beta version ?_* to play 0.17 you need to either download it from their website *_from the experimental version page_* or when using steam you have to go to properties and then the beta tab of that game and then *_select to use a specific or the most recent experimental version_* that's always how it works when they release a new major version (like 0.16.0 or 0.17.0). after a while most of the initial bugs are fixed and then the version is declared stable. on 0.16 it first was something like 0.16.46? and after some more fixes (half a year after the initial release of 0.16.0) it was stable 0.16.51. ps: although it is only an experimental version of an early access version, i think that it is more stable and finished than many "finished" AAA titles of other publishers :-)

Oh really! Thats gonna be handy!

I assumed it was because it altered the display of the game, as well as the hotkey being ALT lol
Good stuff. Thanks for taking the time to put this together!
Great tips... keep em coming
Concrete/landfill brush has been there for a while as far as I know.
Landfill only with mods
Brush has been there, but Bots flying landfill is NEW! same goes for cliff explosives!
Great vid! Keep on making them!
Clouds do bad things to the RUclips compression algorithm too.
Whats the shortcut-key for chnaging your gun slots like i want to change to gun slot 3 which has shotgun in mid fight
Hi JD pls send me the link to the toolbar video you said you were going to make. Thanks
you....only found out about alt mode when 0.17 came out? or did i interpret that wrong?

Also, it is new to 0.17 that there's a button for it, instead of just the keyboard access.
Is there a command to unlock research queue after you started a game? If so, will it disable my achievements?
there is a option when you start a new game that allows the research queue to be there from the start
@@Hlebuw3k i didn't test this myself, but i read that it is a startup option that has to be selected at/before map generation and thus can't be changed later, and that someone wrote a mod to always enable it so that you won't accidentally start a map without enabling it (which of course will disable steam achievements while local achievements are still possible)

enabling the option won't disable the steam achievements, but using a mod will!

Is there a way other than mods to turn research queue on forever?
/c game.player.force.research_queue_enabled = true
But it breaks achievements as its a command!
I learned nothing... Teach me something new dam it lol
Half of these arent 0.17.x features :S
No, but they are LOTS of features that show up regularly on places like reddit that people didn't know about so i included them in this video

Console. Tilde key.
Just wish they had said that 0.17 is only in the Beta test mode not full release.
It's in the experimental branch. Where did they say it was full release?
