Thank you, very useful information. Fees for accounts are a huge factor because they can add up over time to more than the interest one makes, especially if one isn't keeping a very sharp eye on things. Personally I would rather get a much lower interest than have a fee paying account.
Hi Fran, been watching loads of your recent vids Im pretty new to this and learning a lot from you so thanks very much! If you have a moment to give me an idea with something - lets say ive already maxed out my isa and have 20 - 30k sat in current accounts not earning a penny of interest, what's the best thing to do, I dont need access to it so the fixed 1 year stuff is fine, would you say its best to put it all in a 5% savings account ( i think virgin money have something like this, i already have a current account with them) Or to split some of it up, and go for maxing out a first direct savings account, maybe i can get the £3600 twice by opening a second one in my partners name and putting savings in there to get 7% on £7200 and then maybe the rest of my money in the virgin saver ?
