    I can't wait to get my Japanese juniper, I ordered from a pretty reputable company I've had one in the past but like all my pets it mysteriously died. I thought dogs liked antifreeze??? Kidding LOL although that's really not funny but something just clicked the other day I need a miniature tree. I ordered from Eastern leaf I hope their soil mix is good for drainage we shall see.

      @@nikandluketravel GEO DIM is right, you can thread the wire over a thick root and tie it to the other wire. You will scar your tree or worse strangling the base like that

    A tray under the bonsai while watering is much much much better for everyone and our Planet. So much water goes just no where in these days we need safe water where we can :)

      Use brick pieces, really small ones. They are best suited for the purpose. Excess water goes down and moisture is retained in the pores of brick pieces.

    That should have been well watered then slip potted into a training pot until dormancy! Removing that amount of root while in full leaf risks traumatising the tree! Also, wrong technique for wiring, you are likely to induce subsoil layering!

    This is wrong do it in middle of spring or at the start of it when its a grow period dont think you have to replant the tree in a new pot too first check if its pot bound and check if the roots are good.

  • @danfernando8092

    You should never tie the trunk only the roots

  • @davidwood639
    @davidwood639 5 лет назад +1

    I would never buy from a nursery that allowed it's bonsai to overgrow to this extent. I hope it survived the wiring of the trunk (!).

      We just bought two little bonsais from a nursery and they look so overgrown - waiting for some mesh and wire to arrive so we can repot them... I’m afraid of what I’m going to find!! Their roots are poking out of the surface (not in a good way!!!) and they were covered in those little stones (just the top layer) so I had to get rid of those because one tree was so wilted even though I watered it... and I discovered that the none of the water was actually getting to the soil through the stones they’d put on top the soil. Makes me SO sad. Looks like they’ve been planted in just regular potting mix too!!! I want to go and save all those tiny trees. I hope ours survive :(

      David I agree; never wire around the trunk! Besides that I always prune roots away that circle around the trunk. They will harm the tree in the future. I like a radial root system.
