Kids Find Fun - fun videos for kids! In our 11th episode we visited Monkeyland, situated just off the N2 outside Plettenberg Bay along the stunning Garden Route in the Western Cape, South Africa.
A true primate sanctuary, home to more than 550 primates!
Monkeyland is the world’s first free roaming multi-specie primate sanctuary. Its mission is to educate and foster greater understanding of our primate cousins and the threats and challenges they are facing. Monkeyland is a place where previously abused monkeys along with other captive monkeys can all come and be rehabilitated. Laboratory monkeys, ex pets, zoo animals are rehabilitated and released together just as they would be in the wild. Monkeyland makes happy endings to sad stories.
We were privileged to be taken on a guided tour by Dwayne Davids, a trained professional guide. Dwayne was extremely knowledgeable and shared super interesting facts with us. He was also really entertaining and great with the kids and answered all their questions. The tour was approx. 1 hour and took us through a 12 hectare forest and along a super long and high suspension bridge (that was seriously cool).
