Mike wasn't just a sideshow or passenger. He was one of the leaders on the Cowboys and arguably a top 3 receiver in his time. He had 7 seasons over 1000 yards (had 960 in one season in only 11 games). Michael Irvin was one of the greats. Whereas Emmitt Smith was more of a quiet guy, Irvin had that attitude that embodied the Cowboys.
Mike Irvin was the leader of the Cowboys and might have been the best leader at Wr in NFL history. He could do everything and his leadership and toughness set the standard. Dallas had a balanced offense so his numbers were lower than other top Wr but in big games he was dynamic. He also got that neck injury and I think he could have played 3 more seasons without it so he could easily got around 80 TDS and more yards. But he had a great run regardless and he deserves a statue in front of Jerry World because that team was loaded with talent but the heart and soul of Dallas was Michael Irvin he was the unquestioned leader of the team which is rare at receiver especially for a championship team. In fact he might be the only WR who was the leader of a championship team. Aikman was the star Qb but he wasn't the leader and neither was Emmitt. Watch old clips of him on the sidelines he was similar to Jordan when it came to holding the team accountable. This is often overlooked but never forgotten by people who watched the game. I wasn't even a Cowboys fan in fact I hate the Cowboys...but everyone liked Mike Irvin...me included. Talk yo ish Mike
All time favorite receiver is Mike Irvin.. I was also a huge fan of T.O. even when he was a 9er and ran to the midfield star, but he definitely gotta hold the L on this one because even T.O. knows Mike aint lyin.. He tried EVERYTHING to get that ring.. Left Frisco hangin to run to the Eagles.. Left McNabb hangin to run to my Cowboys when they were buildin a run.. The Bills while they were hot.. Even tried to ride Ochocinco's Bengals for a run.. All to no avail mind you, these were all teams who appeared in the playoffs without T.O. and he couldn't take any of them to that next level besides Philly but they still lost to Tom.. Only person who can even attempt to dump dirt on Michael Irvin's career is Jerry Rice.. Nobody else has the input as a leader of their team as a receiver like the Playmaker tho.. Jerry included.. He kept to himself and even kept secrets of the game away from T.O.... Nobody else has the stats/rings combination outside of those two
Teammate wise, it’s not even close… All 32 teams would rather have Michael Irvin, he was a leader on those teams… Ask any Cowboy, they’ll tell you… College & the pros, he was always that dude…
Yea but san fran didn’t have a runner like Emmitt. The cowboys were more balanced offense. Also, the receivers don’t have the ball, make the decisions or do the play calling.
To me... Playmaker is Top 5 best WR to Play... He has the numbers, the charisma, the rings & the leadership... Yea T.O. is arguably the best after Rice or Moss, But neither T.O. or Moss were a fraction of the leader Mike was
Numbers ain't everything. Irvin is the one who paved the way for the likes of T.O. and Ocho, etc. He was the original diva WR. Numbers don't translate across eras, but do they take into consideration other factors like longevity, pass happy team vs. run offense, etc. But what is undeniable is that Mike was the best of his teams. He might have been a diva, but everyone would tell you he was the consummate team player. As Mike will term you, he helped take something that was broken and got it going again. He is directly and inexplicably linked the Cowboys dynasty. T.O. can't make that claim. It's a team sport, and unlike Michael, he wasn't able to carry a team on his back and will them to victory. Mike is that dude. When football was gritty and the NFC East was balling, even division rival fans would tell you they hated to love and loved to hate Michael. Put some respect on that man's name. As Michael said, Jerry Rice is #1, but right after the e in Rice comes the M for Mike.
Nobody cares to hear 2 great HOF Wr doing a instigated beef just let them be it ain't about them bumping heads with each other they got plenty to contribute without being put against each other. They got enough haters already..TO still need a fair one with Stephen A
them Emmitt Smith rings. You talk a lot of noise about Jalen hurts but his quarterback was really average Troy Aikman who handed the ball off to Emmitt Smith to get you a Super Bowls
What are you talking about?.. T.O. & Moss went to super bowls. How many did they win... EXACTLY T.O. played with McNabb Moss played with TB12 It was T.O. fault how things ended in San Fran, Dallas & Philly... Hold him to his accountability
Irvin was the first one drafted. Irvin 1988. Aikman 1989. Smith 1990. The vision started with Mike He wasn't teammates with a hall of fame receiver like Moss was with Carter or Owens was with Rice
I mean TO is right tho.. He literally top 3 in everything Mike only got the rings over him but even in the 90s Mike wasn’t the best he was just a champion.. Very good but in his Prime I’m taking Jerry and Sterling Sharpe
@ and look at how we look at them.. Never as number 1or 2.. Mike was a champion but he wasn’t better than Jerry or Sterling in the 90s at all.. Him and CC were 3 and 4 but not 1 or 2
I bet Cam started alot of fights in school 😅😅😅
Number one instigator 😂
He and Mase both instigators lmao
Talk yo shit Mike 🏆💍
I screamed that sentiment as soon as he dropped that first bar! 💯💯💯
Holding up all those damn rings that's the only reason I sunk to the bottom 😂😂😂

“We’re losin’ recipes” is classic

TO...His cryin' "That's my quaterback azz"!
Real Facts! I hated the Cowboys but I respected The Playmaker as he was a complete receiver and was always the face and pulse of Jimmy's squad!!!
Mase and Cam would get gold in the instigation competition in the Hood Olympics 🤣🤣🤣
Mike 😂😂😂😂
He said T.O would walk up the step freely!!! 😂
Talk that talk Mike!
Mike talking spicyyyyyyyy

Bling Thing Called A Ring
Yeah, Mike 🔥🔥🔥 💎 💎💎

He said you iight 😂
Teammate wise, it’s not even close…
All 32 teams would rather have Michael Irvin, he was a leader on those teams…
Ask any Cowboy, they’ll tell you…
College & the pros, he was always that dude…
Mike Irvin really is hard to beat in a GOAT debate.
Facts!
Max Kellerman would be a good addition as an analyst for the occasional boxing matches.
Bring em out!!
If they can get a WR debate. Mike Jerry Rice Randy Moss and TO. That would be PPV haha
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Cam and them wrong for instigating this whole shit. Smh they egged Mike and T.O on
You soft. They not gang banging, they debating sports. It’s competition. They can’t ask them to say which one is better, and why they feel that way?
I think Michael Irvin forgets Jalen hurts made it to a Super Bowl without Barkley
Shii Jerry Rice got rings too and he's still at the top.
Yea but san fran didn’t have a runner like Emmitt. The cowboys were more balanced offense. Also, the receivers don’t have the ball, make the decisions or do the play calling.
Hey? I remember TO dropping some here and there when it counted but I can’t say that one time about Michael Irvin
To me... Playmaker is Top 5 best WR to Play... He has the numbers, the charisma, the rings & the leadership... Yea T.O. is arguably the best after Rice or Moss, But neither T.O. or Moss were a fraction of the leader Mike was
YSL Irving not goin for no BS🗣️
Holding the damn rings yeah u would sink to the bottom! ✅🤨🤔😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
cam n mase could’ve got gandhi to fight martin luther 😂
You say that shit MIKE! Champion though 🔥💯🔥💯🔥💯!!!!

Nobody cares to hear 2 great HOF Wr doing a instigated beef just let them be it ain't about them bumping heads with each other they got plenty to contribute without being put against each other. They got enough haters already..TO still need a fair one with Stephen A
Cam Newton & TO would have been great teammates! 😆
Not Jerry rice
It’s in the name playmaker. Irvin made the catches when it mattered. You want play-off clutch or regular season hero?
YSL mike
Mike cook T.O with ten seconds
Dont like this type off ish, dont create beef
I mean...wheres the lies outside Jerry
them Emmitt Smith rings. You talk a lot of noise about Jalen hurts but his quarterback was really average Troy Aikman who handed the ball off to Emmitt Smith to get you a Super Bowls
Cam and Mase are being too gay. T.O didn't say it like that, they just starting things and being messy.
I love you killa but you got that smoker's cough...stop smoking them damn black n milds
*Blunts
the rings shit is weak . must be nice to have an hall of fame QB n RB gtfo
What are you talking about?.. T.O. & Moss went to super bowls. How many did they win... EXACTLY
T.O. played with McNabb
Moss played with TB12
It was T.O. fault how things ended in San Fran, Dallas & Philly... Hold him to his accountability
Don't act Like Mike wasn't part of the original Big 3.
@markusstevensakabiginfinit9523 men lie women lie but numbers dont. TO is an different echelon than irving. Point blank
Irvin was the first one drafted. Irvin 1988. Aikman 1989. Smith 1990. The vision started with Mike
