I hated that I heard so many complaints for this album. when they first streamed it, it was that same beautiful and touching songwriting there always was but with just some new sounds. this video just further proves it.
Agreed. This is actually quickly becoming my favorite album of theirs. I love that they took a risk in changing their sound. Even Dawes fans who don't like the direction the band took with this album should appreciate that all great bands need to evolve.
While you're at it, check out Middle Brother! Taylor Goldsmith (of Dawes, above), John McCauley (of Deer Tick), and Matt Vasquez (of Delta Spirit) all make really good music together! The choicest track, in my opinion, is Million Dollar Bill.
Check out The Basement Tapes with Taylor Goldsmith, Elvis Costello, Marcus Mumford, Jim James, and a bunch of other people doing some never released Bob Dylan songs
Taylor Goldsmith lyrics are some of the best being written today. Dawes never disappoints.
Yep, bingo, you nailed it.
Agreed, so well written!
A true wordsmith, a poet
I can't seem to get over how good this is.
that walk-down in the chorus is awesome
My favorite thing is the lyric clam in the second verse. This is on of my favorite songs of all time now.
Lyric clam?
Kind of an amazing save in the moment, actually. He is truly a brilliant human being, and an artist to his core.
Dude could recite the yellow pages and it would be a hit.
word
Amazing. So beautifully written and delivered!
Beautiful song...every phrase loaded.
Outstanding...Thanks Taylor!!

Zion Rodman
just saw Taylor play "One of Us" solo acoustic and it was perfect.
I was guilty of this, initially. I was so, so wrong
Yes! Dawes is amazing!
Wow! Never heard of Dawes, definitely checking them (him?) out!

Middle Brother and Blue Eyes are good tracks, as well. I was listening to them on the way to work this morning.
Thanks guys! I appreciate the suggestions

Fantastic!
looks like CFM. it's not a Dreadnought. is it a 000? no matter - chord voicing never disappoints. ....and that walkdown
Simpson
Devastating
Another great song!
