Medi-Cal Plan Closures, Transitions 2024

Several Medi-Cal HMO managed care plans are closing in 2024 and new plans added in many counties. Individuals and families in the plans being terminated will have to select a new health plan and primary care physician for 2024.

Oh gosh, I just scratched the surface. There is a whole booklet of guidance on all the different small and large changes. However, the big issue for most Medi-Cal beneficiaries is that they may lose their plan and will have to select a different plan.
In all honesty, all of these changes are more than some people can deal with as they are fighting a chronic illness. The Department of Health Care Services thinks they can just throw up some webpages to assist people and it is all good. Many of these folks need a real person to help them navigate the changes. And we all know how difficult it is to get a real human on the telephone at Medi-Cal.
